The true professionals were bob Dylan and musicians who kept total control and acted so professional. Bob and his musicians kept it going like the pro's they are. Patrick Picotin
hahahahhaa i fucking remember this x) bob's reaction was just priceless. i used to be a big fan of bob's before i found out that he's cool with apartheid & ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. so disappointing. FREE PALESTINE!
As a Minnesotan, I remember it was a big deal when "one of ours" was "Soy Bombed" on live television. The Minnesota news stations made the story one of their leads for the following day's news cycle. As an 8 year old, I was in awe. I instantly found the event to be one of the most hilarious moments I had ever witnessed. It would take 14 years, but I finally was able to pay tribute to "Soy Bomb", remaking the incident myself at a local university coffee shop concert.
I'm actually surprised he was on there for as long as he was. I would have thought security would have pounced on him sooner. But good thing they didn't because we wouldn't have as much of this to just take in and appreciate as a piece of pop culture history
I remember watching this live - it wasn't until the guards took him away that I realized Soy Bomb wasn't part of the act. We had some chuckles about it at work the next day.
i would have unstrapped the guitar and took a swing at the guy hopefully knocking him down maybe a bloody face if i got him good enough. that would have been more memorable for the grammys and WAY more badass
Several things 1) This was Dylan's best album in years 2) He's too good for the Grammys, at any time 3) The dancers are utterly unnecessary 4) The Soy Bomb guy has never been good at anything for his entire life, and never will be, and this is the closest he's been to talent, which isn't saying anything.
@JiffySpook This video alone means the Soy Bomb guy has done more in life than many people, most probably including yourself. He's accomplished something great here, turning a lackluster Bob Dylan (in eye shadow) performance into something that's still making people laugh and smile more than a decade later. It's hilarious, and took some serious balls on his part. The cowardice you display here by anonymously criticizing him from your computer screen is certainly something he doesn't possess.
To those of you whom this pisses off; I think that you need your own personal soy bomb to jump out and dance so that it shakes up your own world a little bit.
That's the great artist Portnoy! The Eeels also have a track dedicated to this, "Whatever happened to Soy Bomb"...very good track by the way. The Eeels voice reminds me of Beck, who, at time, reminds me of Dylan...everything's connected hahahehehehe. The apology was obviously made by a douche bag who doesn't understand zilch about art.
@mellkiades no, the guy who dances like a freak during a beautiful performance is the douchebag. Art is what Dylan is creating and this guy comes and ruins it by jerking around really close to Dylan, invading his personal bubble and looking like an idiot.
@toxicgreen you really don't get it, do you? "Ah, good taste, what a dreadful thing! Taste is the enemy of creativeness. -" Pablo Picasso, painter and sculptor (1881-1973)
I saw this live. I was thirteen. My aunt had given me a bob dylan CD for chirstmas Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits to be exact. I was barely discovering him. I got so exiceted he was on TV that I was dancing and when the guy came on stage I began to do dance like him. Years later I found out he was not part of the show. This performance is one of the favorite memories. That CD was actually one of my first english speaking CDs. I am the only one in my family that understands Dylan's lyrics.
I could dance like that...if I wanted to.
