  • Like this one. the rhythm is uplifting. You should sing this at clubs maybe you already do. You have a good interesting voice with good diction.

  • pretty song :)

  • Handsome!

  • Hi, Thanks for the comment. Yes, there is a Steeleye Span connection. I got the song from Tim Hart and Maddy Prior's album, 'Folk Songs of Old England.' They were founder members of Steeleye I think, and some of the songs on Tim and Maddy's LP also have Steeleye versions. (though I was never a great follower of Steeleye, so dont know their repertoire well). Eric

  • Right on! Had a friend who listened to this kind of music in the ´90´s Any clues towards Steeleye Span or something?

  • One Thoosand! Congratulations! :)

    Well in Sir.

  • Lovely rendition of a favourite folk song. Thank you.

  • Tim Hart and Maddy Prior do a fantastic version of this song. We'll worth tracking down and listening to.

  • I know! Please see the narrative I have attached to the video. The LP also has great songs on such as 'Spotted Cow'.

  • Sorry, my mistake for not looking. Your version is superb.

  • Tim Hart and Maddy Prior do a fantastic version too. We'll worth tracking down if you like this song.

  • Very nice! That song is sung out here in Australia, believe it or not, by a friend of mine Nic Lock..

Nice guitar work too. I see you like Dmitriev as well as I do.............I try to play Bach's D minor too but on piano accordion......

  • G'day banduraplayer, you lads sing this in Oz too? Wow, thats great (im from the North of England, a "pasty Pom" LOL) All the best mate, and i hope you lads win the Rugger world cup, England don't have a chance but it was fun while it lasted. Go get em cobber!!! :D

  • Err, i now need to revise that opinion, who (apart from an optimistic Englishman lol) Would have thought it??! I feel so sorry for the French. NOT!!!!!!! :D

  • Lovely, as i have said before ;D A truly great folk song , very well sung. Me Uncle ( no longer with us ) used to sing this to me when i was a kid, and it always touches me Heart...happy memories ;D

  • A great song well sung!!! I think Clannad also recorded this song in their early days. I think that the late Luke Kelly of The Dubliners would also have sung this one well. Pity they never recorded it.

This song ought to be better known amongst traditional folk groups. You don't hear it very often.

  • Fantastic! I love that song.

  • Very good.

  • Very Nice!

  • Thank you! That's my first comment on YouTube.

  • Yeah, lovely little tune! :)
