For all of you who think this movie has some inconsistencies or is a rip off of other movies; the Mars series was written between 1916 and 1940. It was some pretty advanced sci fi for its time but, of course, some of the facts are off. Its FICTION folks. Lighten up, enjoy the story and leave your arm chair, Star Trek analysis at home.
@antizero100 If you are talking about the red girl, she's one of Barsoom's native races, the red skinned humans and the green skinned giants.
If you are talking about the guys on horses chasing John Carter, that is prior to him coming to Barsoom, when he was still on Earth. They are union soldiers, most likely.
@kaindarkwind confederate soldiers from what I hear! chasing down an awol John Carter, or I have also heard that they want john Carter to join the union after the war as a soldier . .. and they want to take him by force
I think it would be a mistake to make him awol from the confederacy, only because part of the point of the book was john carter making friends with a horribly alien race while being from a culture that is inherently racist
I have read MARS-books ready.
Are You ???

Avatar ripoff much?
JPCRules93 2 months ago
@JPCRules93 This story was written in 1938. Don't think Avatar's creators were even a gleam in their grandparents eyes at that point.
jt9mechanic 2 months ago
@jt9mechanic Sorry, it was written before 1916, which makes that gleam in the eye even older.

@ivelocityi yeah ofcourse its based on a true story. John Cartes was a legend back in 1980's.
bequbed 2 months ago
@ivelocityi Yes. John Carter's trip to Mars was well documented by his nephew Edgar Rice Burroughs.
