  • @QueridaSandra: You're welcome. I love the song, so I researched it. I discovered Louis Jordan in the process. Sure glad I did; He's great!

  • Such a tragic personal story behind Harry. You can see how the sadness shaped his music and his life.

  • 'grew up with this album! This song (& one particular morning over "What's-her-name-#1) inspired MY song "in the Early EARLY Morning" bydeffinition

  • Harry Nilsson left behind EXCELLENT work! Indeed, both his songs and his arrangements for them are a part of his legacy. Nilsson is GREAT! Although underrated, he did put out some great tunes.

  • john lennon knew this guy had talent thats good enough for me

  • Brilliant arrangement.

  • Louis Jordan must have shit a brick when he heard this one.

  • That guy had a GREAT VOICE!

  • Louie Jordan, eh? I def must hear that. Thankx. Harry is THE #1 singer ever! to me, and that's all that really matters I guess. Turned lots of people on to him via THE BEATLES saying their fav American singer. Pandemanium Shadow Show on 8-track

freshman in college. he was eclectic personified.

  • There's something linking these pictures... something to do with time of day. Hmmm

  • CLASSIC OF CLASSICS!

  • Thanks for posting this. For some reason it popped into my head yesterday. I have the album, but on vinyl (and no longer have a turntable). And thanks to browncoats4ever for the info. I'm a huge Louis Jordan fan, but never knew this was one of his. Dookie Chase, btw, which is mentioned, is a famous restaurant here in New Orleans.

  • amazing song.

  • To know Beck is to know Nilsson

  • A great song highlighting Harry Nilsson's incredible vocal range. A really cool song from a great album. Also, real cool use of pictures. Thanks for sharing.

  • Katey Condict , song good !

  • I was so crazy in love with this madman from the moment I first heard his voice. Wild, wild, talent, creative off the charts brilliant genius man. I miss him so much! • artistically done - thank you for this.

  • such an understated and underappreciated talent...sorely missed

  • Harry RIP - you were a genius with the voice of an angel.

  • Fantastic!!

  • Anyone know how to play this or know where I can find sheet music for it? I know it's probably simple, but I'm not much of a piano or keyboard player and tried to pick out the notes on my guitar without much success.

  • standard 12 bar blues in C, with a boogie vamp, just very stoccato, so like, C C6 C7

  • right on Harry.. RIP

  • Hauntingly, sparingly beautiful song...just a man and his er...um...organ. R I P Harry...lol...DOOKIE CHASE! Check out stories of Harry and John Lennon getting ripped for days on end in L A...good times!

  • Incredible genius!!!

  • This man was a genius!

  • So right.

  • i've seen hungover people that looked better than that kid lmfao

  • F YEA!!! I completely forgot about this song! This whole album was and still is BADD ASS! WILL someone PLEASE get Lime in the coconut original on here???!!!

  • The pictures to this song is just stunning...love it.

  • ar gatan pa soder?

  • Dookie Chase.....good restaurant!

  • I have to say I am not much of a morning person. I have never heard this Harry song. I like it! When I was reading through the comments about the lil boy I was curious...I got I good laugh when he appeared on the screen!

  • This is just what I need for my Harry Nilsson nostalgia (triggered by the Coconut Song). I love the pics you put with the song - especially the sleepy-head in the blue jammies.

I had Nilsson Schmilsson on LP at age 16 (yes, I'm old) and I remember playing this song for my parents. I was going "Isn't this guy brilliant??!!" and they were just listening with glazed eyes. (They grew up with Lawrence Welk. . . .)

  • unbelievable

  • I was REALLY depressed till I saw the note on 1:37!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!

  • Agreed... that little boy's face should be on a t-shirt with some caption like: You woke me up for this?

  • I took a picture of this boy this via my cell phone and emailed it from Denver to Tucson...causing joy to a friend who sent it on to Nevada...so he is getting around!!! I then sent it to Dallas and I hear it then went to Massachusetts....Thanks again, Glen922!

  • lo mejor es nilsson lo es cuche cuando tenia 10 años y siemprte me acuerdo de su buena musica

  • My dad got me into Nilsson too. They knew what was up.

  • I love Harry.

  • Nilsson was the absolute best! This brings back so many memories. It was a time of wonderful music.

  • such a cool song. very funky.

  • 1:37

  • Nilsson a master and missed..I grew up listening to him with my Dad. Played him all the time .Set me up in my knowledge and taste in music. This guy was miles ahead...class act

  • @brummiesi1 Me too! I listen to Harry and think of my Dad. Thankyou Harry and thankyou Dad.

  • @brummiesi1 Awesome, had the same experience with my dad except with Jim Croce. Stuff like that stays with you. Cheers.

  • My favorite from this album, of the MANY times I listenened to it, is "I'll Never Leave You" - I don't see it posted anywhere. It's a perfect song. He was a genius. THANKS for posting this!

  • wow what fantastic pics surely theyr'e not all your own

  • None were. They were all out on the web, which I hope is public domain enough for use here. I'm grateful to the original photographers and artists for making their works available.

  • @glen922 Great eye for picking such fab pics.........

  • @betterbette seems you missed the song...?

  • @betterbette does it matter if there his or not?

  • Hi,

    Thanks for placing this!

    What's that beautifull picture at 0:50 ?

    Would like to know!

    Thanks!

  • Such a fantastic song. Makes me feel good!

  • love this LP

  • one of the all time best :)

  • Unquestionably one the songs written by man.

  • This can be appreciated by anyone that has music flowing steady even absorbed through the brain cells in their minds.

  • Love Harry's arrangement of this song. The original was done by Louis Jordan in the 1940's. There's a video of that here on youtube, btw.

  • Really? I'd thought it was an original Nilsson. Thanks for the info. I'll check that out.

Harry did a full album of classic 40's music - Over the Rainbow, as time goes by, etc. He must have liked that era a lot.

  • likewise thinking it was a Harry original

v nice video and such a great song

  • @browncoats4ever Pictures and song compliment each other. A work of art.

  • @browncoax4 ever thx for the info ~ had no idea it was a 40's tune.

  • Biggest lungs ever! Dang he holds his breath long!

  • anyone who truely wishes to be a vocalist should try to master this song or "sleep late my lady friend"

  • Great advice. A lot of Harry's songs could be great training devices.

  • HA HA HA!!! What? HA HA HA!!! HORN!!!!

  • Best. Album. Ever.

  • It is great. If I had to pick just one, it might be Abbey Road, but if I got to pick three, this would be two, followed by zeppelin II

  • Not sure I agree with zeppelin II but Abbey Road would def be in my top 3 as well :)

  • pretty (and cracked me up midway)

  • My mom played this album all the time when we were kids (I was born in '69) and we loved to dance to the increasing craziness in "Coconut"... this one just cracked us up :)

The album was a really weird floppy/flexible 33 and 1/3 made of "dynaflex"....never seen one like that before or since.

  • I had NO idea this guy was such a fabulous singer. But he is. Actually a virtuoso.

Thank You for uploading the song and for the beautiful pictures. Very good.

  • Glad you liked. Get the Nilsson Schmillson album for his best stuff. I think I have a couple more of his songs in vids here too.

  • I dig!

  • Thanks.
