Mach 6 isn't rly that fast compared to what's already been achieved in the past.
The fastest ever was NASA's X-43A Scramjet (Mach 10!).
& that's 3x more faster than the fastest 'manned' military aircraft (Blackbird SR-71) which was Mach 3..

If you think of it, this is like 1910 when all the tech we use today was in its infancy. Now we have all the new tech emerging for the 21 century.
Also I think we need a lot of advancements in material engineering to be able to maintain all of these extremes.
