I have 2 questions. 1. does the moment come with a simcard? 2. does the moment have free internet or u have to buy it cause he said it comes with a everything data plan but in words it also says required to have data plan so im sorta confused.
i disagree I have the moment and my sister has the hero they both do the exact same things, most androids do the only difference is the style of the phone. They are both good. I think the moment is slightly better because the keyboard and it's touch screen. But I guess it's my opinion.
the hero reminds me of the mytouch for tmo but the moment is alot better supposedly there is a moment 2 coming out hopefully they wont lose the physical keyboard
I will tell you this.. You are better off to go to Samsung Moment because when i had the Blackberry Storm, it was just terrible. The software always updates, always fail, freezes up like 3 times on me a day. I just recently bought a Motorola Droid and it's faster, more responsive, just a better phone, so i think that the Android will do you good :) Good Luck with your purchase!
ok im getting a new phone in lke 2 months and i was wondering which phone should i get should i go get a blackberry or should i get this phone or would there be another andriod phone out by then
i still dont understand y ppl r still complainin about cell phones...samsung tried to fix wat everyone complains about..we complain about speed they made it faster..we complain about how the double tap feature never zooms in on wat we tapped..they took that away and gave us a zoom bar..to be honest every phone is goin to have something thats bad or we dont like so like the guy said below BUY A COMPUTER
So my question is a little complex. My corp. e-mail requires that if you use ActiveSync, your phone has to be encryption enabled, which means if you dont use the phone for about 20 minutes the phone must have a password entered. HTC Pro 2 does this, Palm Pre does not. I had to go to a Sprint store, find a Sprint employee with these phones, and try to log in on their phone to find out. Seems its not often somebody requires this, so how do I find out if the Moment is capable? -Dave
i dont understand why people are complaining about the need for a data plan with this phone. what would be the point of having a phone that can do all of this stuff with no internet. would you buy a computer and complain because you have to pay for internet service.
what you dont understand why in the hell would everyone need to get robbed by Sprint with the data plan when they dont need it, for instance I would be using wifi on the phone because I have a router in my home let alone hotspots at my job and pretty much everywhere else, so why do I need to get robbed paying a extra $30 for a damn data plan I dont even need, it should be a option period not the ONLY option, thats what people like you and Sprint fail to realize
Unfortunately most of the cell phone carriers are now making it mandatory to get a data plan, not only with Smartphones, but with plain old feature phones with wi-fi. Apple started this a couple months ago. You probably wont see many feature phones with wifi any longer. So no more free wifi internet with any of the carriers.(unless you have an old contract and phone) I have looked its just not there anymore.
for one who in the hell said I cannot afford the data plan, again something you fail to realize, its obvious you are not too tech savvy so I say it again, I already named three ways of using the internet on this phone, plus I rather use the internet on my PC not a phone, its not the Americans who have the problem its the companies who feed of people like you who have not a clue or knowledge about anything and are blinded and are getting ripped off
Which is a huge addition, that blows everyone else away. Instead of any 5 or 10 numbers like other carriers you can call any cell. In the spirit of Christopher Walken... Wow! That's crazy.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
will i have to have internet to get this phone, because if so that is really stupid. All of their touchscreen phones require internet unlike other providers. please help me
Yeah, but unlike the other carriers, you don't get ass-raped on an unlimited plan. You can get a plan that has auto-unlimited plan for like $79. Unlike, say, ATT/iPhone combination, which requires a damn-near $125 monthly bill. I currently have data everything family plan shared between 3 phones for a meager $99.
Yea but Sprint just dropped that any mobile anytime plan with includes unlimited data, picture mail and text for $69.99 a month not to mention you can call any person on any wireless carrier for fre vice versa. Thats the best plan out.
Do you even know what you are talking about??? All other providers make you get a data plan with their smart phones and they are way more expensive, ever hear of the Iphone? And it is not just a touch screen phone it is a SMART phone, judging by your comment I don't think you need a phone liker this. You should go buy a trac phone.
DUH, now tell me something I dont know, better yet, you ever heard of a blackberry which has always required a data plan, so why the hell did you use the iphone for example is the hell beyond me, now shove that trac phone up your sorry ass
Wow. I was considering the exact two phones to replace my current BlackBerry Curve...but I think i'm sold on the Moment even though I have become so loyal to BB. The Tour looks too basic and already dated to me. I wish it was wider like the BB Bold. .And the screen isn't all that big either. The Moment looks amazing. So I think i'll go with that.
@duckuy1995 idk if its too late but if you like all touch screen phones then go with thw hero, but if you sucj at texting with touchscreen keyboard like me but still want a touch screen go with the moment, it has a physical keyboard, plus the screen is brighter than the heros and has 3 screen instead of 5
@Arden15yr The Hero gives you 7 screens while the Moment gives you 3. However if you install the PandaHome app you can have (I believe) up to 11 screens. Plus you can change your entire theme.
I HAVE A SAMsUNG INSTINCT m-800 AS WELL AND I AM TRYING TO DECIEDE BETWEEN PALM PRE, SAMAUNG INSTINCT HD, OR THIS ANDROID SAMSUNG MOMENT. TIP: NEVER BUY A TOUCHSCREEN phone with just a virtual kayboard only!!!!!!
It seems to have everything to become the best phone in the market: 3.2" AMOLED screen, Android OS, a full keyboard, a capacitive touch screen, an 800MHz processor, a camera with flash and video recording, FREE GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, expandable memory (surprising how the Palm Pre nor the iPhone have this) and under 200 dollars. The only crutch I can think of is if they gimp out on the RAM, but I doubt that's the case.
The difference is the Moment's 800Mhz processor and AMOLED display. Also, the full qwerty keyboard with a dedicated number row. The Hero's 530Mhz processor dulls in comparison, but the Sense UI and 5MP camera make up for those. It all depends on what is more imporant to the user.
This has a much faster processor, a full keyboard, built in flash for the camera, and Samsung phones emit much less radiation than HTC phones do. Plus this is $179.
A test has recently been done where 1200 phones were tested for radiation. Samsung phones were among the lowest and HTC was among the highest in radiation.
When will this junk science stop? Cell phones emit radio frequency radiation. RF has the lowest amount of energy. If you really want to prevent cancer, turn off your lights and never go outside. But don't blame a cellphone. There is zero credible evidence that cell phone "radiation" has any negative effects on humans. UV photons (the sun) are about 10,000,000 times stronger than RF photons.
Its not junk science. Radiation emits from everything: radio frequency, the computer hardware, etc. If companies don't take the time to shield their products properly, then it can become a serious problem. It may not be cancer but other health related issues.
And the display altogether is better. This is a 24-bit, with 16.7 million colors, while the hero is a 16-bit. Doesn't sound much a difference but 16bit has only 65000 colors. the android platform is even better; moment has 1.6 OS, while the hero has the 1.5. all of these make me want it, aside from what you guys said. I like the fact that it has a solid keyboard. I have an instinct from when it first came out, and waited til i saw a phone with real improvement, and i think this is the one.
does any one know if this can be unlocked for sim card carriers???? ((i kno it doesnt use a sim card but some phones like the blackberry storm dont use sim cards but have a slot for one if you unlock it))
hey sprint: when making this vids..is it possible for the guy to look at the camera? i feel that when some1 doesn't look at me..they're lying..so it would be nice for this nice noble Caucasian man to look at the cam.
hero any day of the week. samsung sucks..htc is an awesome company..with great hardware..plus this is a stock android build..the hero has sense..a custom htc layer on top..its great
Hero has the Sense UI allowing you up to 7 customizable screens. This one will not but it will have the qwerty. It all depends will you sacrifce the keyboard or not? If a keyboard does not matter then The Hero would be better in my opinion. Hope this helps.
Seems to me the HTC device has more to offer with android. I think I will stick with the hero. Thank you for the insight! Got the BB 8330 right now and its ok, but can't wait for something more stable.
I agree. I definetly like the specs on the Moment more, but the look of the Hero is extremely nice. I've used Samsung phones that have this same form factor and design (Samsung Impression), and the keyboard on the Impression was horrible. The design and form factor also got extremely annoying after awhile.
Since this is running Android, we will also be able to run HTC Sense on it :) I'm starting a contract with Sprint when the HTC Hero comes out. I'm going to use the Hero until the the Moment is released (I will still be in 30-day period), and if I like the Moment, I'll trade in my Hero, put HTC Sense on the Moment, and then enjoy 800MHz of CPU and HTC Sense :)
Sense is just for HTC phones, BUT I am almost positive that you can just flash a HTC Rom to the Moment, and then it will look and function exactly like the Hero. Everything should work, except I am not sure if the QWERTY keyboard and camera flash would (API's might need to be ported or created).
I'm sold! I've been waiting to upgrade for a long time and finally this is what I've been waiting for!
One question, what about grandfathering in my current plan that already has unlimited internet? I will not lose my lower monthly payment by switching to a different plan.
I have had the same Sprint plan for 5 years. 2000 mins, unlimited text, internet and 3 phones for $114/mo.
And I have changed phones 4 times. They keep trying to get me to change, but they cant touch my plan... so until they do, I will keep my plan and upgrade phones. I currently have an HTC 6800.

@crzychikn1 Sprint does not use sim cards. It comes with a 2 GB micro SD, but that's mostly irrelevant.

Since this is running Android, we will also be able to run HTC Sense on it :) I'm starting a contract with Sprint when the HTC Hero comes out. I'm going to use the Hero until the the Moment is released (I will still be in 30-day period), and if I like the Moment, I'll trade in my Hero, put HTC Sense on the Moment, and then enjoy 800MHz of CPU and HTC Sense :)

how do you know? isn't sense just for HTC phones?
starsweet4 2 years ago
Sense is just for HTC phones, BUT I am almost positive that you can just flash a HTC Rom to the Moment, and then it will look and function exactly like the Hero. Everything should work, except I am not sure if the QWERTY keyboard and camera flash would (API's might need to be ported or created).

sounds good, but i don't think it will work properly. it surely won't work in landscape mode :(

I'm sold! I've been waiting to upgrade for a long time and finally this is what I've been waiting for!
One question, what about grandfathering in my current plan that already has unlimited internet? I will not lose my lower monthly payment by switching to a different plan.
ega278 2 years ago
you will probably be forced to changed to a current everything plan

I have had the same Sprint plan for 5 years. 2000 mins, unlimited text, internet and 3 phones for $114/mo.
And I have changed phones 4 times. They keep trying to get me to change, but they cant touch my plan... so until they do, I will keep my plan and upgrade phones. I currently have an HTC 6800.
