Thanks for making a "race video" that at no point involved filming a race. Putting shots of cars cruising along the highway is not a fucking race you idiot. 6th gear in Aero is 273mph @ 7200rpm. therefore rev at 60mph = 7200* 60/273 =1582
assuming torque stays at max power = 356hp.
But coz of the torque curve, power at 1500 rpm is definately much less than at 6000rpm. So real power < <350hp. pwr to wt = 350/1300kg(curb) < < 270hp/ton
6th gear on aero goes 273mph. at 60mph theres only 1500rpm.
Using the formula pwr = torque * rev/ 5252 and Assuming that the torque is still max at 100kmh (which is far far less at 1500rpm than 6000rpm) the pwr to wt is still 350hp/1280kg = < < 344hp/ton.
In its optimal rev band the lambo LP640 pulls 380hp/ton.
Drag is neglogible, there is negligible traction losses, rolling resistance is bout the same for both tyres.....

The original Ford GT 40 was a Mark 6 (Lola GT) that had a few small changes made to it by Eric Broadley and rebadged as the Ford GT, because Henry Ford wanted to win Le Manns (which is this weekend 11 &12 of June). Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, all the big ones have said their future is in light weight composite materials and power to weight. All the big names are refreshingly disconcerned with top speeds above 200 mph. They instead focus on making the best cars in the world within the limits of what you can actually use. While this kit-car based SSC certainly is quick, its a single purpose monstrosity that totally lacks tech, styling and build quality. Which is why they only sold like 10 cars since 2007.

SSC looks like a Lambo because they used to build Lambo replica kits and amazingly.. They based their Aero on that replica kit. So its got the proportions of a 90s Diablo except the good looks. The whole thing is a glorified kit-car.

This isnt MY opinion. Go to Kitcars dot com you will find them under "lamborghini inspired vehicles" with address and all. They used to build Diablo replica kits and amazingly based their SSC Aero on that Diablo kit. When Top Gear tested it, the SSC people themselves refered to it as a largely home built kit-car. They didnt have the budget to do it properly, but ofcourse.. Now that americans have hailed it to the skies for years, they wont accept that even when it comes from the builder himself.

Building a car costs money...Building a car that goes 250mph costs LOTS of money and takes LOTS of engineering know-how.

My father is a co-owner of motorcars of Las Vegas, and thus has worked extensively with Shelby in getting his car into the market. I have sat in the passenger seat for many rides. Im sure this thing is quick.. but so what. Speed on its own is cheap. They did three times that speed at Bonneville in the 60s. Its still a homebuilt kitcar.

Everything else is secondary to them. I know Jay Leno kicked its tyres so naturally.. its gotto be great right. But its never been road tested.. Never been reviewed properly. I know the Koenigsegg company well and visit them some times. They are busy with dealing Ducati motorcycles, building speedboats and the new Koenigsegg Agera. Their engines get benchtested up to 1300-1500 hp before they go into cars where they are limited to 900-1100 hp. Nobody has ever blown an engine. If they were concerned with records at the moment, they would be well equipped to do so. The SSC builder himself refered to his Aero as a kit-car in a TopGear interview.

That is just a poor excuse. SSC chose to run on that 2.5 miles. Their first attempt was on 12 miles straight road ended with failure. Only one model did with a race fuel.

@2011CJM No the Super Sport doesn't do 267. It's limited to 257 mph for production models. Anybody with common sense (A.K.A. anybody who isn't a fanboi) can see that the top speed record for PRODUCTION vehicles, should go to the PRODUCTION model. Since the PRODUCTION SS is limited to 257, that is the top speed record for the SS.

The original Ford GT 40 was a Mark 6 (Lola GT) that had a few small changes made to it by Eric Broadley and rebadged as the Ford GT, because Henry Ford wanted to win Le Manns (which is this weekend 11 &12 of June). The new for GT is only based on the origianl so that was a joke thats why I put lol after it.The old Ford GT40 is 50 years old now so the Ford GT should of been better than it was but I still love it. @janusha is right everyone this is a basically a"kit car" because its not mass produced and befour you say a Bugatti is not mass produced it is made by one of the biggest car company in the world.Its actually quite easy to get to 250 mph the hard part is doing it every day without an engine rebuild without a new clutch every other day and so on the SSC is very similar to the Diablo in shape.Jay Leno likes it just cus its made in the US and everyone knows they cant make cars go round corners.

Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, all the big ones have said their future is in light weight composite materials and power to weight. All the big names are refreshingly disconcerned with top speeds above 200 mph. They instead focus on making the best cars in the world within the limits of what you can actually use. While this kit-car based SSC certainly is quick, its a single purpose monstrosity that totally lacks tech, styling and build quality. Which is why they only sold like 10 cars since 2007.

SSC looks like a Lambo because they used to build Lambo replica kits and amazingly.. They based their Aero on that replica kit. So its got the proportions of a 90s Diablo except the good looks. The whole thing is a glorified kit-car.

This isnt MY opinion. Go to Kitcars dot com you will find them under "lamborghini inspired vehicles" with address and all. They used to build Diablo replica kits and amazingly based their SSC Aero on that Diablo kit. When Top Gear tested it, the SSC people themselves refered to it as a largely home built kit-car. They didnt have the budget to do it properly, but ofcourse.. Now that americans have hailed it to the skies for years, they wont accept that even when it comes from the builder himself.

Of course it was a kit car in it's prototype stage. Every special brand of car is (Pagani, Koenigsegg, TVR) when it's first prototype is released. However, you know nothing so ill explain it to you.
Building a car costs money...Building a car that goes 250mph costs LOTS of money and takes LOTS of engineering know-how.

My father is a co-owner of motorcars of Las Vegas, and thus has worked extensively with Shelby in getting his car into the market. I have sat in the passenger seat for many rides. Building a Bugatti takes alot of knowhow... Or a Koenigsegg. They can do 250 mph straight out of the factory. All of them. Not just one time, one day, under special conditions with a full crew backing it up. Anyone can build that. Go to a dragrace and you see hundreds of the damn things. With numberplates and all. Im sure this thing is quick.. but so what. Speed on its own is cheap. They did three times that speed at Bonneville in the 60s. Its still a homebuilt kitcar.

I know the Koenigsegg company well and visit them some times. They are busy with dealing Ducati motorcycles, building speedboats and the new Koenigsegg Agera. Their engines get benchtested up to 1300-1500 hp before they go into cars where they are limited to 900-1100 hp. Nobody has ever blown an engine. If they were concerned with records at the moment, they would be well equipped to do so. The SSC builder himself refered to his Aero as a kit-car in a TopGear interview.

@torogami2 ARE YOU KIDDING ME !! Bugatti had a 5 mile straight to achieve the top speed and they did ON THE FIRST TRY unlike SSC Aero . They had to close down a route 93 in nevada which has a 12 MILE STRAIGHT!! and They failed at 242 MPH. but then after that in Virginia when nobody was there they All of a sudden achieved top speed. i mean youre failure rate is suppose to be 0 .

@iwasadeum well Veyron S.S did 261 MPH first run but then 2nd run was 269 MPH . and when you said "not to mention the newer SSC has more power and weighs less' You're wrong. it may weigh less but it doesnt have more power because the bugatti actually it makes 3000 HP but 2/3rds of it generates into heat so once again youre wrong . First know what your talking about and get facts and then come talk to me . and koeniggsegg CCXR is lighter than a SSC Aero so once again youre wrong

@2011CJM No the Super Sport doesn't do 267. It's limited to 257 mph for production models. Anybody with common sense (A.K.A. anybody who isn't a fanboi) can see that the top speed record for PRODUCTION vehicles, should go to the PRODUCTION model. Since the PRODUCTION SS is limited to 257, that is the top speed record for the SS.

@2011CJM And you are wrong yet again. Those "world record editions" refer to the paint job - the carbon-black with orange trim - the color of the veyron SS than did the top speed run. Has nothing to do with the performance. None of the production models can reach 267mph.
