Wow. Hes only 8 Years old and thats so good. But if He has been like 20 or 15 , it wouldent Be perfekt at all. There are Many Little mistakes with the Tempo, and just the Feeling isnt there. But hes 8. Great!
He did a great job learning on his own. Charlie is so talented, smart, and sensitive! Most noticeabley he needs to work on the rhythm in the Allegro section.
Thanks Benita! The funny thing is that both Charlie and I noticed the tempo problem, but the two of us together + metronome did not fix it before recording. That almost never happen to Charlie, who's very quick at fixing any issue pointed out. Hope it doesn't happen again ...
There are, in fact, very small mistakes and a couple of misreading notes. Besides, his rythm in the last part is unstable at times. He also exagerates the "staccato" playing which erases some of the dramatic feeling of the music. It is, in fact a first degree performance, which is perfectly normal. Now he must polish the work with his professor. None the less, a very impressive self taught interpretation......
Hi, Patrick, thanks much for your comments! I wish I was a musician/seasoned classical music critic like you, then he wouldn't have made the mistakes! :) Thanks for pointing it out! By "exaggerated statccato" did you mean that some slurred staccatos were played as pure staccatos? I didn't notice it much.
Great effort Charlie. It really is very beneficial to try to tackle a difficult piece like this without instruction. It makes it necessary to do all the thinking and interpreting one's self, and that I find helps tremendously. It is of course a whole lot easier to have the tutor pointing out everything, but to do it without a tutor is more beneficial I think. You have done well on this one and lots of stars from me.
Thanks, he recovered before his solo recital in time (heww!). Charlie certainly enjoys new house much! Had we recorded during the day we'd open the screen and it's nice outside.
Bravo, Charlie! I swear you've moved beyond perfecting technique, and have learned to read the thoughts and emotions of the masters. Your interpretations just get better and better.

I think George played that piece the best, but my personal favorite has to be Charlie playing it at 7. ;)

Beautiful! Charlie learns pieces really well on his own.

Hehe, not always! There's usually mistakes here and there when he learns by himself (and sadly I can't tell! I wish I was a musician!)
