boxing has nothing to do with mma, they are apples to oranges, boxing has been accepted mainstream for many many years, they don't have to go around advertising like mma, or lobbying trying to get boxing legal. mma isn't even legal in dozens of countries and states. Everyone lined their pockets in boxing and now thats why mma is the big ppv draw, they have 7 out of the top 10 sells every year now where as boxing has 2 and wrestling has 1. But as I said, they are completely different sports.

In bocxing Joe Calzaghe got around 10 million for his fight with Roy Jones and it did around 250,000 buys and compaered to mma that is less than most ppv buys. Lesnar got around a million for his fight although it did almost a million buys however lewis vs tyson which did about 1.2 million lewis got around 50 million. A "bit" of a difference and as you say MMA generates more money from PPV buys.

Its still illegal in dozens of countries and almost a dozen u.s. states. We won't see boxing type paydays until its saturated the market as boxing did, the overhead is just to high right now

boxing has nothing to do with mma, they are apples to oranges, boxing has been accepted mainstream for many many years, they don't have to go around advertising like mma, or lobbying trying to get boxing legal. mma isn't even legal in dozens of countries and states. Everyone lined their pockets in boxing and now thats why mma is the big ppv draw, they have 7 out of the top 10 sells every year now where as boxing has 2 and wrestling has 1. what you just said about being the biggest draw each year proves my point. In bocxing Joe Calzaghe got around 10 million for his fight with Roy Jones and it did around 250,000 buys and compaered to mma that is less than most ppv buys. Lesnar got around a million for his fight although it did almost a million buys however lewis vs tyson which did about 1.2 million lewis got around 50 million. A "bit" of a difference and as you say MMA generates more money from PPV buys.

Yeah, but your missing two key points, lesnar actually got between 2-3 for his last fight including the ppv percentage and boxing is what, around 80 or 100 years old as a modern sport, mma is only 15-20 and over half of that time lawmakers were trying to ban it completely and make it a felony to engage in. Its still illegal in dozens of countries and almost a dozen u.s. states. We won't see boxing type paydays until its saturated the market as boxing did, the overhead is just to high right now

you understand incorrectly, i'm saying the ufc has a lot more overhead in operating bc they are a new sport, boxing hit its peak, mma hasn't, the expense in mma is just higher right now, and although mma is a huge ppv draw, their gates are still more lackluster than boxing from what i've seen. Boxing doesn't have to employ staffs of lawyers, lobbyists and other people to try and grow the sport. boxing is allowed everywhere. the ufc doesnt owe anyone anything its a business not a family...and another thing your confused about is that if the ufc has a million buys at 40 bucks a pop they dont make 40 million ...they or any other company only get 40 percent of that , some outlets let up to 45 percent split...THEY DO NOT RECIEVE ALL OF IT..REMEBER ITS BUSINESS NOT SOAP OPERA

Tito definetly isn't a contender these days but he can get a crowd excited, he does stupid shit that make people laugh. I prefer it sometimes, its better hearing him talk than some dull guy. He definetly can be a dick but back in the day *everyone* wanted to see him fight. We'll see what he does if he goes to affliction.

it is about talent, not just draw. if tito could back up his shit talk the ufc would back him. when tito fights top fighters he gets beat, randy chuck machida etc. tito is one dimensional and past his prime. mediocrity should not be rewarded. plus tito was afraid of chuck, even randy said so

And personally Tito isn't my favorite fighter. I prefer more humble reserved guys like Machida, but the guy busts his ass and brings a lot to the table. It's not smart to cut him and other fighters out like this. And like he said, it's not just Tito, Randy Couture has ALREADY left and other fighters are looking to as well.

A lot of you are missing this guy's point. Regardless of personal opinion, regardless of whether or not you LIKE Tito Ortiz, the guy deserves more money because he is responsible for a substantially larger amount of company revenue than he has received. If you look at some of the cards and what some of the lower ranked fighters a paid it's a complete joke. If MMA ever hopes to overtake boxing as the dominant combat sport then they can't keep this kind of stuff up.

You gotta remember that MMA is still in puberty...Boxing has been around forever...The UFC has to pay for all the production, advertising, promo, arena, PPV deal...boxing does not have to pay for any of that...

I actually went to UFC 73 Stacked and it wasn't "sold out" like they were claiming it was...There was roughly 100-200 seats that weren't filled...and that's not counting the seats that were empty under the screens...I definitely agree Tito draws...But I think his draw is starting to fade...

Tito did NOT save the UFC...Tito and Shamrock did NOT save the UFC...TUF/Forrest Griffin vs. Stephan Bonnar did...But it's obvious that you are bias and are paraphrasing Tito's comments and interviews...Who as openly showed their dislike of the UFC besides Randy and Tito?!? Randy pussed out...I love him but he did admit he got whatever he wanted...but still complained...Tito mind as well go into acting...He hasn't evolved at all...

How can you be such a Tito mark? His biggest wins are over an old and sunk Ken Shamrock. He lost to Forrest, anyone who saw that knows that. Anytime he fights a top 5 fighter he gets his ass kicked. His fight with Vitor couldnt have gone either way. Lyoto schooled him. Then two of his biggest wins were over middleweights. His two biggest wins were over Guy and Silva. give him those wins, but only reason he is popular is because he runs his mouth. Great entertainer? yes, great fighter?NO

Tito is a great fighter no dout. BUT to say Tito is totally responsible for the UFC's ultimate sucess!?!?!. In my opinion Spike tv is responsible for the UFC's new found popularity. I DO agree Dana is a dick.....he's not paying the fighters what they are worth. Hell brock lesner was paid more than Frank Mir and Frank Mir won the fucking fight. Tito is worth more than he's getting paid. (BUT) Most of the ufc's core talent is getting screwed, not just Tito, he's just got the balls to say so. IMHO

damn Tito Ortiz has SOOO many haters because of Dana White. i find it funny how everyone here seems to forget about his fight wth Forrest Griffin which was a great win for him IMO and the Rashad Evans fight was great 2 even though it was a draw he only has 2 losses in the past couple years hes bled for the UFC yet know one gives him respect sure he can talk shit sometimes but that helps with buys. he is a marketable fighter and NO ONE can say anything against that
