I agree with ooohcheese 1973 the best year for music EVER, TRex, Bowie as Ziggy, Slade, Sweet, Alice Cooper al dominated the singles charts but also remember Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield and Band on the Run by Wings presided over the album charts ongoing for years. 1973 - in my opinion the best ever!
Lets be honest, in the 70s there were so many proper bands, Marc Bolan was a little fish in a big pond. Marc Boland is the equal of someone like Chesney Hawkes or Justin Beeber. ie total fucking commercial wank!
You're so wrong, Marc influenced Oasis, Lily Allen, Goldfrapp, the Ramones, Adam Ant, Marc Almond and too many more to list (These are just a few people who are on record as saying Marc influenced them ) BTW , The Beatles even considered T.Rex as their successors (on record) Bolan was more than the few singles which people know. Ask David Bowie what he thinks of Marc Bolan or Elton John. - Then again maybe you know more about music than any of them!
like many T.rex fans I didn't become a fan until he was already highly popular - I remember hearing "Get it On" and becoming a fan at age 14 it wasn't long before I owned "Electric warrior" and then all the back catalogue - I love all Marc's output and it's high Time he was given some formal recognision like a BRIT award, Tony
That's interesting Fee, I was also keen on Toyah after she released "It's a Mystery" I wrote to her - (she never replied) years later I stood right behind her watching a show being made in the HTV West studios (now ITV West) - I wasn't brave enough to talk to her

@coltsuperocean10 You have no idea what you are talking about. Bolan was a genius. Rock on Marc!!

@coltsuperocean10 He was iconic. You have limited knowledge of Rock Music. That is OK. Live and learn, in the mean time, bugger off.

1970s were amazing and I remember everything with great affection , best year for music of all bands I think was 1973 .
Can't choose a best year for Marc's music , it all has it's wonderful place .
