They are to heavy to carry down. sometimes they have to go and clean the dead zone of trash and the dead bodies... they cannot be carried down. A special team go up and taken them down the mountain on a rope at times.... so they do get identified.

However, Scott Fischer and Yasuko Namba were covered with snow and some stones by the late Anatoli Bukreev. This can be found in the book "Everest 1996".

theres a few hundred dead bodies on everest...many can never be brought down due to the enormous phsyical exertion it would take not to mention the insane level of difficulty it takes to bring a completely fit and healthy person up...i dont think you realize how hard it is to climb this mountain and what it entails...i believe the sherpas have at least attempted to cover some bodies or push off the main trail but there are still many bodies lost on the mountain

@rzlorlnd I read in Jon Krakauer's novel "Into Thin Air" about the 1996 Mount Everest disaster when eight climbers were killed and several others were stranded by a 'rogue storm'.......at one point in the ascent, one of the climbers woke up, grabbed some coffee and stepped outside of his tent just wearing his boot liners ( what's on his right foot) Because he had no traction, he just slid down the ice into oblivion. I bet that's the poor SOB. ( BTW great book )

@melle855 That was Chen Yu Nan, he fell into a crevasse but was quickly extracted by sherpas, he pretty much lied about not being hurt and told Makalu Gau to go on to camp 4 because he felt like resting more before moving on up to camp 4, that's when he tried to go back to camp 2 but collapse and was found by sherpas that began to carry him down, Chen died suddenly on the way down. His body was eventually brought to base camp, so this can't be him. I think this could be Yasuko Namba though.
