your method of proceeding into the creation of the connection is new to me as you declare it as private in form.vb while I'm used to declare into the module as public name_of_connection as new sqlconnection("data source=.\SQLEXPRESS; Initial catalog=name_of_database Integrated security=true")

I tend also to write down this ("data source=.\SQLEXPRESS; Initial catalog=name_of_database Integrated security=true") on my own so that I don't get confused , well this was just some remarks and thanks :)

I was trying to follow your instructions pertaining to linking vb to ms sql. I was successful in

creating the database and file following your example. I However, was not able to connect the

file to a form created in visual basic. Could it be that I am using VB 2010 express instead of visual studio

2008 or 2005? I will truly appreciate your help with this.

@ancon100 No, it really doesn't matter what IDE . The problem most likely is in your SQL Connection string. Google a site called " Connectionstrings " I believe it will help you.

Hello sir, This video was really helpful to me. I am developing a similar project in vs 2010. almost 90% commands were exactly the same. I was able to develop it upto UPDATE command, but I need to add DELETE and ADD_RECORD controls to it. can you please give me some guidance in vs 2008. I can implement that in vs 2010 for my project.

An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server when connecting to SQL server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under default settings SQL server does not allow remote connection.
