World first? No. Warlocks have been tanking for a very long time. The illidan fight required a warlock tank. The twins fight in AQ40 required a warlock tank. What you have shown is nothing more than a twist of the experience.

avoidance is a bitch to get up, and multi mob tanking is difficult, havnt tried heroics yet but managed a few normal instances the other day... certainly was different from my tankadin.

tho you can see where it would be difficult to keep a lock tank alive

@naplm Avoidance is pretty much worthless since you can't dodge (or parry or block) while casting. You'd only want tanky gear for extra armor, stam, and def rating (as icing on the tanking cake since it lowers the chance you'll be crit). You can use pvp gear since the crit reduction from resilience works on mob attacks.

Hi, I am trying to understand here. So the warlock tanks the mobs in demon hunter form, correct? Doesn't this spell lasts just 30 seconds or is it possible to increase the duration somehow?

They tank without any form. Mitigation is bassed on Armor rings/cloak/trinket and buffs

Then adding the effects of the Voidwalker with master summoner for -10% physical damage taken, and then soul link for another 20%.

On top of this theres the passive +20% healing recieved. wich is boosted through talents aswell.

All in all, the extra healing + all the defence talents add up to alot, the Demon form actually serves as nothing more than an emergency cooldown, somewhat similar to shield wall.

No, you get enough resilience to prevent crits, then get a ton of stamina. Soul link negates some of the damage, and you save Demon form for the soft enrage if there is one. Otherwise, use it when it's available.

Great Job, sure with the WLK Heroics and a Raid Boss ... though the idea about Warlock Tankinig (And spamming Searing Pain) is a very old one.

I didn't ever recorded it, and that's a sad point though, but Dofty (76 - Retired) in T6 Value Gear, with Priest Buff, Kings Buff an Druid Buff, Flask, Buff Food, Oils) was close to 20k HP, personally I tanked Arcatraz Heroic (All Bosses), Attumen on the Horse (First part not), and 3 Bosses in Shadow Labs Heroic (Murmur not). Even Holy Tanking is poss.

What are the prioritized stats for this kinda thing? I imagine this derived from a VW Sarth tank attempt or something of the sort. Do you aim for defense or just stack stam? What about glacial gear vs. pvp gear vs. (insert any relevant gear here)?

Just curious, seems something fun to try out next week as we FINALLY got immortal and can stand to die now :P

There were two, not one at that. You may want to watch the video and you'll see both VW's parked at the healers, you'll see them do the demonform metamorphosis in the last 20-30% of Patchwerk's hp and you will see the raid-marks on their heads, as well as on the raidframes of the one recording as he is healing them.

the graphic is some custom rune circles i made in photoshop and then used KG panels to get them in game.

as for sexymap, in the options, go to borders, then choose one of the sub settings like "rune 2" then in the little box at the bottom right scroll it down untill you see texture options, you can set any color you like there :)

they both had the 550 armor trinket that drops in gundrak, and one had the essence of gossamer, and the other the 850 armor trinket that drops in naxx :)

Do not doubt the awesomeness of gnomes. We have plenty of TPS (even with the low spell power) and No if you spec correctly you wont get 2 shotted.

Also to all those asking I dont wanna give away too much on how this was done.
