  • that sounds like shit

  • Pretty cool dude !!!!!!

  • Amazing tuning possibillities. Great demo!

  • processors are future shit sound

  • what is the board he is using by his feet to control the roland vg99

  • @529ark The board is a Roland FC300, which adds controls to make it easy to change patches as well as two programmable foot pedals. Sells for about $400US and up.

  • Can this work for piezo equiped 7 or 8 strings or just 6 strings?

  • the part at 8:28 is BAD ASS! now I want one of these.. Hell, just for the alt tunings which seem to be light years beyond a variax... hell, I could sell my whammy pedal too. :)

  • @brandon9271 A Variax can do that too with the PODs that support it. A Variax with the Workbench and a POD can make you have some good fun.

  • I think for various sounds, the Roland GR-55 is the way to go. Besides, the Roland VG-99 is way over priced.

  • i like the idea of changing the tuning without losing string tension

  • 5:03 Partyboys in the house!!!!

  • 08:23 Starlight by Muse

  • I'm guessing this is better than Guitar Rig 4?

  • Guy would look like Phil Collins without the hair.

  • Excellent performer and demo! These are best guitar effects and amp emulations I could have ever heard in one piece of equipment. I don't want to spend for many different brands and equipments if I can get this only one unit. The worrisome for me is that seting-up is not easy and simple. It may take a lot of time and effort at the begining for seting up or creating your own. However, once it is done and that is it.

  • I think you are veary talented alex. congratulations...

  • what guitar is that and was it modded to work with the gr 20 and vg 99 or was it designed by the company the way it is

  • Absoloute fekking guitar god...

  • Great Demo... I am very blessed to have one. I know it's expensive, but believe me it's worth every penny. You will be putting aside a lot of guitars and other equipment after you start using it. I made a nice strat out of of my favorite parts and topped it off with a GK3 and a nice set of EMG David Gilmour pickups (for when I play simply analog.) and I can easily blend the sound of 3 Guitars! I don't need anything else, period. With all the hours we put into playing, why not stop paying!

  • Built in theramin...cool.

  • Yeah, but can you make it sound like a gazoo?

  • @davidlanham99 KA-zoo.

  • @WhatSayestThou i do that just to drive you gazoo people crazy.

  • when is buckethead gonna write a song like 08:31?? :(

  • Which guitar are you using ? plus I dont see a gk3 pickup cause I have the gr 20 processor and the gk3 sucks at mapping while your guitar is doing it like a pro .....plus does it take input directly from a guitar?

  • so... its a expensive pod... it sucks

  • i want one

  • YAY starlight in the background at 8:25 :]

  • if you want this more cheaply here's my advice:

get the berhinger midi foot controller, guitar rig 4 and ableton. with these programs you could basically do anything the VG can do with the exception of gutiar moddeling. You could get a Variax maybe for this if you really want to do this. This way you'll save a lot of money and you'll also have more of a studio set up when you are done =)

  • The pitch-shifting features are real neat - and the amp modeling sounds great. Now if only they could bring that price-tag down...

  • Such a shame the VG99 doesnt support the synth features of the GR20 but hey, patch in the V-synth XT and voila.

  • Yup, the VG99 is the dogs bollocks. I'm currently using it in conjunction with the FC300, V-Synth XT and RC-50. Jam yourself to death.

  • Update: I've owned the thing 8 months and I'm still coming across things I didn't know it could do. They also made it TOO versatile. Also, all of the factory presets are really a bad representation of how good it can sound.

  • Dang, this is very expensive!

  • I didn't think I'd ever say this but....

I don't have the need for so much awesomeness. I mean, what the hell!?!?

  • between this and the new robot les paul you damn near dont need to know how to play. lol.... what happen to the good old days and where the guitarist got 12 guitars on a big rack.. different one for every song...

though i gotta say this is quite the contraption lil over board but still awesome as f*ck

  • omfg i am so getting this

  • I would love to have this bad boy, but until I can ever hope to afford it-I'll be just fine with the Gt-10 coming via UPS on monday!

  • Nice!

The only thing missing is, that it doesnt recognise what fret you play like the Terratec Axon.

And Alex: dont spend so much time endorsing equipment - get a record out! Quick

  • That was a very good demonstration! Excellent guitarist! Respect.

  • Nice! All those fonctions are pretty amazing! If you want to listen to real impressive sounds for the VG, just test the Dominik Hardy's videos about the VG99 on Youtube, great sound and playing...

    Victor

  • i got to get one of those adn is it me or the song he plays and 5:00 sounds somthing like steve vie

  • fuck ... this is the best fucking shit that i ever saw :O

  • its cool.. but everything sounds so over processed and digital

  • THATS AMAZING

  • sick..

  • I'm interested purely for the alternate tuning function, I'm sick of needing a different guitar for every !@#$ song! Can anyone tell me how/if the sound quality changes as you tune farther out digitally? Also, would a floyd rose trem still function normally? Also also, can I fit a GK under 6 strings of a 7 string? Thanks!

  • @gram440a I was running it on a floyd equipped guitar for over a year with no issues. The pitch transposer is eventide quality, extremely smooth.

  • mad skills!

  • lol techno at 5:00

  • those runs at 9:30 are wicked cool

  • 1 question this or the gr 20

  • depends... do you have to buy the foot board seperate with the vg 99?

  • @SEETHROUGHCOLOUR fc-200

  • @Fear3001 gt-10

  • dint know alex was into bassline ;) haha

  • That doesn't make any sense. If you can afford a Roland VG99, I'd assume you could afford a B string bender...

  • i was thinking the same thing

  • Damn great tool...wish I could own one...but as a student...well...money.. :(

  • does this need a midi pickup

  • of course

  • for some of the effeckts yes ,but u can stil use it whitout the gk3 or 2...it sounds so amazing....combine it whit the roland fc300 and u never need anything else....mayby a gt10 just to be sure;)

  • @ibanez1200DK Do u know which guitar this dude is using? plus what do u mean when u say that it can be used without gk3?

  • @smartsharpkiller It's a Brian Moore.....a lot of the models come with Synth Access.....Godin also do and are possible cheaper and just as good quality.

  • @simonthedragon thnx appreciate ur help

  • @smartsharpkiller No worries. Godin LGXSA is a great guitar and so is the Freeway Classic SA.

  • Obviously you have never played one ! The VG-99 is NO gimmick.. I know - I have one. AND I also have a GT10. It doesn't even come close to what the VG99 can do...

  • @s0c7 your right....i have the vg-8ex and it rocks as well

  • @s0c7 I'm thinking of trading my gt 10 for a vg 99. Would you recommend it? I want to use it as my main effects unit on gigs.

  • @junyna17 Not unless you're switching to a guitar with a synth pickup - this thing can accept a non-synth guitar, but it only gives you about 5% of what this thing can do. Also, you NEED to be good with midi and tweaking and really work to get the best from one of these things. The standard set of patches are kind of crappy, but you hear what this guy's doing, and it's awesome.

  • @s0c7 I bought one and it still amazes me me what I can do. I already love it and I haven't even scraped the surface of its capabilities. It's also got that excellent 24bit 'soundcard' built in...the thing is a pro tool. Too pro for me!

  • what song he played at 3:50

  • 5:20 he looks at the camera like: yeah i know im the shit. this guys great

  • As a VG99 owner I'd say this is a great overview. The only downside is hearing a bunch of crazy guys frantically tapping away in the background on the Vdrums with sticks. It's comical. All you hear is "thumpathumpatappitytappitythumpa". Crazy. You figure they could have done this video asking the crazy monkeys to desist for a minute or two so he can do the demo.

  • Lol!!!!

  • this guy officially has the best job in the world !!

  • @g4vv Because you don't see that after making videos he's back cleaning the bathroom hahaha :D Just a joke...

  • @g4vv thats because he is one of the best for it

  • Excellent! -Derek

  • that guy sure can play guitar!

  • Good toy. But totally flat sound..... Where is the body of the sound?

  • You're joking right? If not its time to get your hearing checked.

  • Youtube: not normally known for quality sound.

  • Beste demonstratie ooit !!! Vooral de uitleg over B-bender mogelijkheid .

  • god i want this

  • That's amazing !

  • ...im in love

  • Totally awesome, and when the Duane says it's awesome, it is awesome.

  • Awesome.

  • Sorry dude but there's a big difference between the GK-3 pickup and the system on this (which is what you get on Godin guitars). The major difference is in the precision of the signal.

  • is this exspensive?

It was one of the coolest things ive seen!

  • In my opinion it's very cheap, here in greece it cost 1300 euros, but I've worked with vg99 and I think it should cost more than 5000 :P

  • its expensive

  • hi, i have a question:

is it possible to play that freeze and playing on top of it with a second path also possible without the gk3 pickup?

  • I HAVE ONE!! AND IS AMAZING!

  • Very cool...

  • I agree, I didn't quite "get it" until I delved a little deeper into the product. I did when i realized its any guitar you fancy , through any amp, with any Fx you want in any tuning !!! Now thats starting to sound cool.. All in real time, no latency at all. Wicked.

  • @NevadaMusicUK Exactly! At about £1000 for the kit it sounds expensive, but imagine the cost of the Les Paul, Strat, Tele, Synths, Rickys, Vox Amps, Marshall Amps....when you tot up the cost of the kit it replaces, it's a bargain.

    I love mine.

  • Thought it was going to be really bad but im very very impressed by this, that strat modelling in the beginning was awesome! Has so much more features.

First roland come out with the Boss GT10 and now with this! Great stuff
