I beg to differ. had 07 ms3 sold it, got 09 lancer gts .after 12000 miles the car was falling apart from the window that broke at 200 miles to the wipers stopping to work and the theft system lockin me out twice. needless to say..it's gone got another 07 ms3 . but to each their own

i just bought a Pearl white MS3 2008. At first i thought the car was weird looking...but after owning one for a week the look has grown on me...I love it now...Plus the handling is amazing! As a Mazdaspeed 3 owner you shouldn't be worried about EVO's, be worried about GTIs and SRT-4's. Leave the EVO hating to the STI owners and respect two great cars.

i love evo, sti and ms3. but to be honest, ms3 can create so much power with just intake and exhaust and lighter wheels. my friend's black speed3 pulled on evos in third+. evo and STi's are great midrange, but top end lacks a lot. the awd cant distribute enough power to all four. MS3 are rolling monsters.

hey, i drove the speed3 thats in the video and its no slouch, its very quick, for the money you cant beat the deal you get with that car. Thoses runs at gld i was launching at 6k in the evo and powershifting, my best run that day was a 12.9. Also that speed3 broke into the 13's last month, looking for 12's

Actually if you spent the same amount on both cars the Evo would still win from a dig. Now from a roll it might be a different story considering the MS3 has a larger displacement than the Evo and the MS3's compression ratio is higer so it responds better off of boost, but stock for stock the evo does have 40 more horses and 9 more ft. lbs of torque.

And I would actually like to see the MS3 take the Evo in every category. Considering the goes from 0-60 in about 4.5 seconds, does the 1/4 mile in 13.4 @ 104 and its 60-0 braking distance is 110ft which if I remember reading correctly is in supercar range.

EVO owns in speed category so equal mods wont do much since the stock block of the evo can do 500 awhp. I dont see any MS3's even touching 500 hp let along 1000 hp so I dunno.

Bullshit, go to any real track event and you won't see many speed3's on the track at all, let alone lapping any fast laps compared to any all wheel drive Evo.

Money or no money, a FWD car just will not outperform an AWD unless it's a straight line or has stupid amounts of money invested in it... it's still going to handle like shit.

Handling comes from suspension, not AWD. AWD is useful if the car has more than 1000HP, not if it has a glorified lawnmower motor, and my MS3 leaves EVOs in a tiny spot on my rearview mirror

Handling does come from AWD Holey, without power being put down to the wheels, your FWD Mazdanotspeeding, will just understeer, where as an AWD vehicle can apply power and power through the turn leaving any FWD car in the dust.

Friday and Saturday nights are nothing, go to a real track and you'll see Evo's at the front of the pack. Funny I never see Mazdas at the drag or road courses, because they fail miserably at handling.

I hate to say it, But I used to own and autocross a Mini Cooper S and sold it for an STI a couple of years ago. The mini handle very well, but it handles no where near as well as the STI. AWD makes a bigger difference then you think. And btw the Cooper S doesn't have the fastest slalom speed...

It has to do with weight distribution and for the most part..."down force". FYI mazdas are the most register vehicle for all "OPEN TRACK" Events in the nation. NO one cares about stock cars vs stock cars, put some bolt on on an Evo, reflash the ECU... do some research on YouTube and search for Buschur Racing, AMS, TurboTrix and TTP Engineering, AWD Motorsports... they all put out street driven Evo's that will put any MazdaSlow in the rear view mirror.

I listed those shops, in hope of you doing some actual research on hundreds of cars being put out by these shops that have simple bolt ons or upgraded turbos. I see you did no such research.

The Evo or Subaru with AWD handling will put buslengths on any Mazda Slow in a multitude of scanarios, be it gravel , snow or on a tarmac surface. This can be done in twisties or the drag race.

So compare the number of 9/10 second Evo's in your straight line ignorance of power against track prepped ones.

to assert what the fellow below said, ive been to road courses around the country and see far more "high end" cars such as evos,stis,lotus,vettes,porsche­s, than i do mazdas. and the few times i have seen mazdas they got destroyed. im sure there are some out there that handle well. but in my 5+ years of road racing i havent seen one that was impressive by any standard.

I was the owner of that evo and my buddy was the speed3 driver...that was at GLD raceway. I had a turboback, CAI and Tune and it was a 05 evo and i paid 21,500 for it not 35. The speed3 had a upgraded motor mount and greddy type s bov. I ran a best 12.9 and he ran i believe a 14.2 with really soft launchs.

Hey, i guess im a little late here, well I was the Evo Driver and my cousin is the speed driver. I had a full Turboback and CAI and a tune and a couple other goodies, not much though, the evo was a 05 and i paid 21,500 for it not 35 grand. Yes the speed3 had an upgraded motor mount and tore it off on teh first launch, since then he got a custom solid and poly mount made for teh car.
