cray has one of the best clean sounds ever. wonder if it's one of those late fifties strats. does he use fender amps too? use to have a strat with a tube twin reverb. amazing sound.

and there's no drop off with his vocals either. everything he does is good.

@tomitstube I think that's a newer model Strat, just gaging by the lack of wear and tear on it. The tone comes from the player, trust me on that, you could put a lot of guitarists on the same rig and they wouldn't sound half as good as Robert!!! One hell of a player he is.

@PSOOPE ~ good eye, the git looks new. tone does come from the hands. you can max out a good clean sound and message the strings for great dynamics. he definitely does that. great vocalist too.

What I love about Robert Cray, is his individuality. He is comfortable with where his is in his playing, and he allows those of us who are comfortable with it, to saty in that zone.

I would love to hear more from him, and players who are similar in their musicianship, and loyalty to their art.
