@jamspastic True words Jam. This is one tough exercise done in this style. The only draw back is it's hard ( for me @least ) to maintain weight progression for
more then a couple of weeks based on the 20 rep scheme. Guess you have to cycle it.You and Bastionhead are two tough dudes . Thanks for posting !
@ScottMacFie Thanks mate. I'm currently using low reps with the deadlifts (3x3) working from 3 different hieghts, and 2x5 in the squat, working from the bottom position. The Trap bar is awesome, need to start using it more!
Jamspastic: That's an impressive feat of strength. You will certainly develop some serious muscle hypertrophy and endurance if you continue with that 20rep routine. I have, however, but one question for you: Why did you name your title dead squat when the exercise that you're performing is a deadlift?
@maxnavo Thanks mate. I didn't name this excersise, i got it from another youtube user call bastionhead. It's called a deadsquat because it's a cross between a deadlift and a squat due to the fact that my legs were close to parallel most of the time, like a full squat. It's not something i do very often anymore....very taxing on the cns, and while it's great for size gains, high rep sets like that have never done anything for improving my strength, which is my main focus right now.
It's worth giving it a try. This excersise hits your whole body all over like nothing else i've ever tried. With your strength i'm sure you could kill off 20 reps with at least 180kgs! Would love to see that!!
No, it wouldn't be the same with a regular barbell. Why don't you buy one and take it to the gym with you? There pretty cheap as far as gym equipment goes.
Like nothing else i've done! Infact, if it wasn't for the recent sled pulling i've been doing, it's doubtfull i would have got to 20 reps. (atleast not as fast anyway)!
SHOULD WORK ; NOW THAT I AM ABOUT 59 ; And tired of 30 years of non sissy Squats :

People need to appreciate the strength they just witnessed. That many pounds, that many reps, that deep (deficit).
What is your typical deadlift working reps? The same, higher, lower? How about squats? The trap bar deads are a great hybrid of squats and deads.

Interesting. I've never seen that before. Good job!
Whenever I've tried to use a trap bar, I found it hurt my knees. It might not hurt if I started from a lower position like you're doing.
