That period had everything. Rockabilly, New Wave, Futuristic, Electro - Synth, New Wave of British Heavy Metal / Classic Rock, Burundi Beats, Rapping coming through, Soul, 2 Tone Ska all with a bit of class.
Boy the late 80s and 90s sucked: hair metal! Whitesnake and Aerosmith going naff, S.A. and W.
Sooo.. my friend and I were picked up off the Kings Road to be extras in this advert. Still can't spot either of us, but the bloody contact lenses hurt like hell :D
I remember this being banned on afternoon and tea-time ITV, (as that was the only channel that showed ads, back then), and for good reason! I remember seeing it and felt quite disturbed by those green eyes.
My mates and I, we all watched the advert when we were are around 10-11...still at primary school...A few of us walked the 2 mile or so trek at the time to buy out of woolworths lol
wowser I Remeber this when it was first aired in 78 i was 4 thanks ooooo much for putting this little Gem on here.strange enough i grew up to become a Numanoid hee hee.I think Gaz pretty screwed over on money making this though : (
Brilliant ad - I remeber it more as a Pearl and Dean offering at the pictures. Seeing this now reminds me that after 30 years I'm still in love with the girl on the left at 0.23.

Chips and gravy at the end of the night was well in order too; when the pub shut at 10.30pm - what a load of crap!!! It was that frustration that made us take to the town and smash 'God knows' how many windows!?
Happy days! I remember this clearly! We (my teen, insane mates and I) were riding on the crest of the Punk Wave followed by Tubeway Army - it totally fitted in with the cold, frosty dark nights of England at that time. We all bleached our hair, but we couldn't afford Green Contact Lenses, on our 19 pound per week Work Experience Schemes (Thanks Maggie Thatcher!). ;) Good times though!
I couldn't agree more with the previous poster. Numan is a gentleman and a true genius. John Du Cann did the single version of this ad. Numan says he doesn't know or can't remember what the words are for this ad.
IIRC this ad was banned from UK TV at kid's TV times as the green eyes scared some younger viewers senseless...
I bought a pair of these jeans in 1980 and they split at the knees after a week :-(
Cool as the drool man.

This was first played in cinema advert. It was Numans first 'big' break before 'are friends electric' did the rest.

This was one of the first Modern looking adverts in the United Kingdom.
1979-post-punk,but still using punk styles of 1976-1977.
There was also an advert for Foster Grant Sunglasses at the time (tasty tarts) does anyone know where you can see this advert.
This advert was one of the most stylistic adverts of its time on television.

This Commercial was one of the most distinctive commercials that there has ever been that represented a Youth Cult.
It was Post-Punk,so was very dramatic.
It was one of the first that represented a stylistic late modern expression look in tv commercials.
At it's first broadcast it was way ahead of any commercial on a Uk Television Channel.
