  • oh i miss bangkok yuri how are you? still in bangkok?. good to see some old friends in bangkok.

  • Thank you for your comments, Dr. Miller. Actually the name of the band is coming from the Oriental Hotel, Bangkok, where this band is playing. They play mostly American and Latin jazz with different singers from USA. Best regards, Yury.

  • This is just great authentic jazz whoever is playing. But Oriental Jazz, a term I coined in the mid 1960s represents placing Eastern music traditions and instruments side by side with cool jazz like on my several postings on lloyddocmiler or doctorlloydmiller . But it definitely would not be represented jumpy pop or rock in any way. Actually the Thai ranad (xylophone) or saw (fiddle) or takhay (vina type lond string instrument) could be very cool in a jazz combo. Dr. Lloyd Miller

  • Just the BEST Live Jazz Band in the Kindom of Thailand!!!! I had the chance to perform with them during a Sunday Jam Sess' at the Oriental hotel (where there are the house band, alterning with differant singer during the year).

I love them, just miss them....Love live from Phuket Island. Mari .O

  • the singer sounds 100% american, doesn't she, the palyers are caucasian, if I see well: nothing oriental except the venue.

But who cares: thanks for posting good music

  • Sax, bass and drums players are Russians, the pianist is Thai, he studied in New Orlean.

  • 1. Oriental!!! here we call oriental jazz for the jazz oriental fusion, that includes Arabic, Turkish, Greek, Parisian, and even Indian... but Thai.. seriously!

    2. this video is a pure "standard" western jazz... where is the oriental part!!!

  • when is bangkok jazz festival?

  • December 9-17 2006

  • The singer in this film is Cheryl Hayes. She is and American and one of the best singers who ever lived. She tears the house down all over the world and has been doing it for a long time.
