  • @blaze0303 your a dumbass and you can tell you never built an engine before, you can use high compression on force induction, you just wont need as much boost. lf you lower the compression then you have to run more boost to compensate

  • The left intercooler pipe is connected to the Intake Manifold am I right? But if there is a BOV on the right side of the intercooler, where does the piping go for the Turbo outlet?

  • @EvooMR Its called a backdoor intercooler when the inlet or outlet to the intercooler is on the backside of intercooler. The inlet is at a 90 degree angle pointing straight back at the engine, its good cause it makes the distance the air has to travel shorter = greater response. The only problem is cheep ones can have bad flow and back it worse and more restrictive..

  • @33traxxasrevo Thats the blowoff valve.. Intercooler is directly off the manifold before the turbo to regulate exhaust pressure going into the turbine and therefor regulate the amount of boost being generated.

    Last thing you want is high compression, otherwise you'll be wasting your money on the turbo and chances are you'll blow the engine!

    Always run low compression on forced induction engines!

  • actually ALOT of the higher HP true drag cars with the larger turbo's use 11:1 or even 12:1 compression due to the spool on these larger turbos. Yes I'm talking about import cars. the AEM 01 civic that set the land speed record with a de-bored B16 down to a 1.5 liter went over 212 mph and it had a GT45 turbo or something ridiculous like that and had 11.5:1 compression. For a street car YES lower compression is good up to a point.

  • @Blaze0303 thats not completely true you can run a high compression turbo just make sure you use proper fuel. higher compression turbo motors will give you really good response. it also depends on what kind of materials your block and pistons are made out of. but you definitely dont have to run low compression to turbo a motor. it is a big risk if u run high comp. with the wrong fuel

    on the whole then yes low compression is a way of increasing to maximum boost pressure an engine can take before detonation will occour but full race turbo engines are still running 11:1 and higher as it allows for a better more powerful engine.

    the only reason low compression and turbo's usually get messed up together is that there isnt a viable easy way of reducing combustion temperatures other than methanol or water injection

  • @Blaze0303 You havent seen a tuner that can tune for high compression boost have you.My friend tuned a ls vtec with itr internals and a shaved head the motor has 12:5:1 compression boosting 15 lbs and it runs 11.7 and 10.4 on 22 psi and slicks and the motor has been run for over a year on both high and low boost.

  • that varies from state to state. i'm not trying ot start anything eiter, but the only real thing that keeps domestic muscle at the top of the food chain is torque. the big engines get down and PULL and that keeps them in the top ranks. to get the necessary power to break 10s for imports you have to make them track cars.

  • thats going to be a bad ass neck snapper. yeah. its hard for the imports to get in the 10s and be street legal here in Georgia. they have sooo many regulations and smog is crazy to pass. on my 93 ex coupe civic i have an easily interchangeable exhaust so i can swap between true dual straight pipe with cherry bomb mufflers and flows tips, back to stock with a catalytic converter so i can pass somg and then take it right back off. mine runs in the low 11's N/A. but its hard to get them there.

  • yea i plan on getting a maverick with a 351 windsor bored to a 408 :) that would be sexy. i just plan on having a 99 Si thats kinda quick but more showy clean JDM. and maybe a full time attack 99 hatch with a k20a. the Si will have a dart aluminum b18 block and an itr head. 13.5:1 pistons slightly built i guess. should be pretty zippy.

  • yeah. i rebuilt the top end completely on my 93 d16z6 lol. most people couldnt tell when i did but you have to be in it. and instead of the 9.2:1 it used to have i got a custom carbon steel crank made at my buddies shop and a set of 14:1 pistons that make me bark 5th. its N/A so i can passemissions without having to rertune all the time an my stage 3 comp cam makes that little workhorse lope like a damn 66 mustang. with those true dual exhausts i threw on the back with 3" pipe its NICE sounding.

  • unfortunately no. my camera broke right after i posted my last vid with the original setup. i am saving up to get a new one but i'm trying to save more for a supercharger to run something close to 15 lbs of boost. i dont want anything too much but most supers for the d16 run about 6-8. so it will be pretty peppy. i'm already having to burn 110 octane gas with those pistons. and with a nice little super whistle runnin in the background.. it will be nice. and i'll be pullin 380 to 400 hp.

  • thats cool. i think if i ever ran forced induction on a honda it would be a rotex. which i beleive is a turbo thats belt driven like a supercharger, so theres no turbo lag. other than that im an all motor kinda guy when it comes to hondas.
