  • by the way you know your pastas overcooked

    yeah its jewish food :P

  • That looks better than a NY deli sandwich

  • Come to San Diego, I'm begging you. They have no idea what good food is in this town. Open a franchise...I so miss the great N.Y. delis I use to go to.

  • i love how pink that solution is...because it look super fake and artificial...

  • I just had their Mishmash soup tonight. I have to say it was awsome.

  • this is so good u can plotz!!!

  • i'm gonna go perpetuate me some kasha LOL

  • I've ate there before. It's pretty damn good too :)

  • Kashkavarnishkis.

  • what jew can talk without using their hands!!

  • Kosher of niet het lijkt mij erg lekker, maar je moet niet aan de lijn doen, want het is ook vet.

  • I've never had Jewish food. The deep fried ravioli looking things look good though.

  • not enough meat

  • I always watch Triple D with my mouth gaping open... unconsciously...

  • A very well done clip. Unfortunately, in reality this place is a far cry from a good New York Jewish deli, like Carnegie Deli. I ordered there tongue sandwich and it was a disaster - tasteless and bland. Still, we used to come there a few more times for their matzo ball soup until I found a really good matzo ball soup at another Jewish deli, which is not so pretentious as this one, but makes a really good home-style matzo ball soup, the best in Houston, on my opinion - Rustika Cafe & Bakery.

  • sweet n sour tongue with chopped liver ,rye bread lettuce and tomato...lots of mustard..coleslaw and pot sald..pickles...ah cholestrol haven!

  • Lots of delis here in delray beach, florida

  • The Best! Better than NY! Kenny and Ziggy's! Wow!

  • Love this place, been eating there for years!

  • Love that kind of food--wish we had a jewish deli here in boulder!

  • A deli in ny would not serve you whatever the fuck that pink shit was in the meat buckets

  • @JoRandom101 Putz.

  • I wish this place was kosher

  • Hey I live in houston tx

  • Guy: "Farfalle? ... It's overcooked, by the way

Ziggy: "It's supposed to be - it's Jewish food..."

(They both laugh and Guy says); "I like the way you roll!"

    ROTFLMAO! Classic!!

    Food looks amazing!

  • @PalzToTheEnd Yeah, that part was great because it was so honest, funny and genuine. Also think food looks great and I like the fact that Ziggy is carrying on his families traditions with pride, humility and honor.

  • We drive 3 hours from Austin for this soul food! And it is soooo worth it. As someone born and raised on Long Island and later lived in the city - I take my deli very, very seriously!

  • The chemical pink powder seems to be really healthy

  • @zoranest Oh, yeah. Betcha that's where all the fat is! You sneaky, pink chemical you!

  • sounds like a very tasty and lucrative and traditonal version of population control .. :p

  • Meat Kreplach with sour cream....???! sorry not very Jewish, and very NOT Kosher. The Yiddishe mamas would roll in their graves...

Believe it or not, meat and dairy mixed/ cooked together is Worse than pork.

Sorry dont mean to preach, but Howard K sent this to me so I have to comment. There is Jewish culture and there is a spiritual Kosher diet for refinement of the soul. This place is the former..

Other than that....Shalom and happy true kosher eating !

  • Ziggy is quite the character...!!!

  • Ziggy is quite the character...!!!

  • Guy is anti semantic

  • hahaha its so jewy! typical New York. ( i live on long island, we like to call the island little isreal)

  • OMG! why did I just hear of this place now?! And I been living in houston all my life!

  • Great restaurant but should be renamed Heart Attack Village.

  • What if a Palestinian chicken restaurant opened up right next door to Kenny and Ziggy's Deli?

  • @firethower99 They'd probably go out of business in a month!

  • Oh damn. Fried kreplach. I'm starving now.

  • this is a new york deli style restaurant serving jewish style food but it is not at all kosher....kreplach with sour cream???? a reuben sandwich... which has cheese... and cheese cake? no no.... a true kosher deli has no dairy product what so ever... not even butter.

  • kasha varnishkas is great. the kreplach is amazing. hungarian stuffed cabbage is ok. they have great cheesecake too

  • this place is amazing. it's not cheap though, but worth every penny

  • I think they have over used that damn bird sound effect at the beginning

  • he sounds like peter from family guy

  • I'm salivating on my keyboard. How about opening another deli in Frederick, Maryland. Send some relatives, and teach us. Maybe open your first franchise! We need it desperately! There is nothing like your exquisite Jewish cooking around here or anywhere in the State of Md. Shame on us. Please, please, please!

  • i live 20 minutes from this place :)...houston texas baby!!!!!

  • I would love to go to the US, they just don#t appreciate food in the UK like they do across there.

  • Best line: 6:20

    Guy: "It's overcooked, btw"

Chef: "It's supposed to be, it's Jewish food"

    XD!!

  • @vagabond142 Oh God, it's so true!

  • Gotta LOVE the US. Amazing food in that country!

  • U Know this place would have even made HITLER LOVE IT LOL thumbs up thats how good this is.

  • I'm soooo hungry right now.

  • This place is AMAZING!!!

  • Had lunch there today and OMG was it good. If you are in the Galleria area of Houston you should go!

  • kuhane klepe, pa ih onda isprže :)

  • I love this place!

It has BY FAR the best potato pancakes in the world.

  • My cousin and her bf were on this show :)

  • the man loves his gravy!

  • It's ok I'm not going to tell anybody...EXCEPT THE WORLD!!! lol

  • Jewish food looks bad but tastes great.

  • OY Ich zay ga schmacht! Essen mine kinderala, essen! :)

  • hey eeldarb, thanks soooo much for posting these clips! Appreciate it SOOO much! i was wondering if you could upload the clip when Guy goes to Boston and to a place called GREEK CORNER? i would appreciate it sooo much! Thanks!

  • That beef wanton that he made is very similar to Polish pierogi. my Mom makes them with cheese and potao mixture and beef and onion, like in this clip. Delicious with bacon bits and melted butter poured over the top!

  • .."now we're going to make Bools out of this..."

  • YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

  • what's the song at 4:32?

  • Thanks for the music.....I've been to this place multiple times and I love it.

I wanted to see the video but can"t stand Guy

  • Food makes me happy :)

  • To all you schmendricks complaining it is not kosher so it not Jewish food you are wrong. You don't have to be kosher to be Jewish. They never said they were kosher.

If you want to be so specific there is no Jewish food. As there is no Catholic food. However this is how people refer to this type of food. It is easier than calling it "Eastern European with an American influence food." If you are kosher, don't eat there if you not, go have a nosh and enjoy!

  • @jimtrd I am with you. Come from a Jewish background and proud to have eaten bacon growing up. Kosher just makes no sense unless you are trying to get spiritual depriving yourself of the good things in life.

  • @jimtrd im not saying anything negative if the food is good then lets eat

  • Fluorescent Pink Marinade!? How can anyone eat that after watching that video? F'ing GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @craftyraider If the pickle isn't pink then they aren't doing it correctly. The kasha looks amazing, as does the chicken soup.

  • @craftyraider that's sodium nitrate brine not a marinade!

  • oh i used to always go there!! i miss houston

  • Great! Delicious :-) Why not open a branch in Israel?

  • whats up with him eating flip flops?

  • wait is the meat kosher? I'm going to Houston tomorrow

  • Any place like this in the Bay Area?

  • "I want people to remember what it was like in eastern Europe" -- krepplach with sour cream and corn beef covered with Swiss cheese -- yeah right.

  • Nice looking food, shame about the description "Jewish" No Jewish person who adheres to eating Kosher food, would dream of adding or combining meat with mlk e.g. kreplach with cheese. It goes against Jewish dietary laws.

These types of eateries should not be described as serving Jewish Food.

Only premises with a recognised displayed certification from a orthodox Rabbinical Authority serves Kosher Food. Watch out for this when looking at "Kosher" or "Jewish" listed or advertised restaurants.

  • @MauriceAC2010 Dear Maurice,I'd like to know were in the Tanuch G-d says that we cannot eat meat and milk. Here are four verses that state that meat and milk can be eaten. Exo 23:19..Thou shalt not seethe a kid ther'smilk.Exo34:26 ...Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk. Deu 14:21...Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk. Also read Genisus 18:1-8.Isa 55:8.Isa 55:8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. Who made that law?

  • @tuviac7 You are right, of course. But Judaism doesn't care about the Tanach (the Old Testament). Their real authority is the Talmud, the commentaries, the rabbis and Jewish tradition. In other words, "the Oral Law" of man as opposed to the Bible, the Word of G-d! it's a tragedy for the Jews but, alas, those are the facts.

  • This is Jewish style food. The Chinese food served in America (Which Jewish people seem to adore) is nothing like ACTUAL food served in China. People adjust things to their tastes. Just because it's not 100% authentic doesn't mean it can't be called Jewish food. It's just the name. It's not like they claimed to be Kosher or anything.

  • I am so ready to take a road trip. And I live in Chicago, where there in no shortage of Jewish delis...

  • They had me until the meat kreplach with sour cream....oy

  • The kreplach looks good, as does the corned beef, but the kasha' has me jonesing.

  • youtube comments are the greatest....

  • @DeliriousT Yeah it's amazing how insane the comments get over simple videos about a deli

  • @okicat For anyone who is offended by this person's uneducated comments - you can click the flag button in the top right of his box and flag it as spam to be removed. You also can go to his profile and click the button to report him to youtube. If enough people report him, they'll remove his profile so that he isn't able to spread the hate that is clearly stemming from being brought up in an unloving home.

  • @freeheretic111 correct, that is why I battle with weight today. One of the main tackles in OA - Overeater's anonymous, is changing these thought patterns. We do not have to put our emotions into food. They have no power.

  • @okicat1Do you have any idea how ridiculously ignorant you sound! Now you have at least 2 Jews in here and we aren't going anywhere! Maybe you need to get out of here:)

  • @emilywolloch ummmmm, more than 2. What's he doing on this forum, anyhow?

  • @freeheretic111 no such thing is kosher style, either it's kosher or it's not.... maybe "Jewish" style.

Comfort food? Food shouldn't comfort... causes dependency on food, makes us fat.... :-)

  • @okicat1 ummm, you're the outcast here, go where you belong.

  • Behind the scenes at Kenny & Ziggy's. They've been so good to us at The Houston Speaker Co-op.

  • I ate there and the corn beef sandwich was goood also with the potato salad and macaroni salad was delicious

  • I ate there and the corn beef sandwich was goood also with the potato salad and macaroni salad was delicious

  • Traif! A real Shande. Do it the right way - go Kosher - Deli meats, goulash, chicken soup, meat kreplach in the Meat restaurant, and Lox and Cream Cheese, Potato or Cheese Kreplach (with Sour Cream) in the Dairy restaurant.

  • come on manchester...........match this!

  • This food is fantastic I am very proud of the Owners... ,this is real tradition !!! I am in Cobourg Ontario Canada , I wish I was there now, Congratulations The Jewish balebuste.

    Diana

  • The food looks soo good! I think I gained 5 pounds just looking at this video.

  • make it kosher and you'd have a gold mine.

  • At 5:10 that's my mom

     for real

  • That brisket looks mouth watering. A Real Deli. Great Job!!!!

  • This is incredible...........should be seen by all foodies

  • I saw that they have a sandwich with corned beef and Swiss cheese. 'Tain't kosher.

  • @barryaus

the key word is style, kosher style!

  • Heck, if there are vegetarian menus in Chinese restaurants, maybe we can help them add a few Sepahrdic delicacies to their decidedly "Lower East Side" post-Ratner's post-Shmulke Bernstein's menu. Forget the Bear and the Lion, Peace will come when the borekas sit next to the blintzes, the pishkado and the gefilte fish share a plate and the fassoulya con carne dines with the brisket and kugel. Yasher koach and chzak u'varuch, y'alls!

  • Even those of us who are strictly kosher can appreciate the love with which these dudes prepare their fare! I would invite them to my house to cook - I'll be the mashgiach - especially the kasha varniskes. Abi gezunt, boys!

  • I'm a vegetarian and find this all repulsive.

  • he needs to bring one to DFW!!!!! i need a good corned beef on rye & some matzah ball soup!!!

  • I really hope they let their customers know that this is NOT KOSHER! As far as forgetting Eastern European recipes...visit any Kosher restaurant and you will find it all...authentic and Kosher...and it's not just words on a menu.

  • Hey Guy... as a former resident of Santa Rosa and having lived less than a mile from Johnny Garlic's, I am thrilled to be able to watch you from my new home in Israel. But I wouldn't eat most of the stuff in this video!

  • sorry, doesn't tickle my fancy...

  • This place looks great! We used to have Heshi's "not too Kosher" deli in San Francisco 30 years ago. Great corned beef. I went to Max's in Marin Sunday to have lox and bagel. They only had a plain bagel and it tasted like wonder bread. Katz's in NY is still really, really great, you know, where Meg Ryan faked an orgasm for Billy Crystal and the lady at the next table says "i'll have what she's having." Does anyone know if Barnum & Bagel outside Chicago is still a good place to go?

  • OMG!!! Plleeessseeee come to Australia.........

  • I just put a couple of pounds on watching the video.......mmmmmmmgood!!!!

Simon Gulden, Markham (on top of Toronto) Canada Su4IV10

  • I have met both Kenny and Ziggy-both are great guys. This is not a traditional Jewish Deli, they are not "Glatt Kosher" and they are NOT representing themselves as one. It is Jewish food, plain and simple. I live in Chicago, and STILL have not found a Deli I like and I have tried all of them on the Southside, Downtown, Northside, Suburbs-All of them..nothing as good as this. And yes I know the difference between "Glatt Kosher" and this place.

  • @mcgr44 NOT Glatt Kosher is an understatement. They are not even Kosher!!

What they are is Chazer Treif or worse bishul basser v'chalav.

What a shame that they do not extend their love of traditional deli to observance of kashrut even on a basic level so that the celebration of Jewish traditional deli would be accessible to all. Chaval.

  • No one said it was kosher deli.

  • Sour cream with Meat kreplah??? not kosher!!! anyway after this I'm moving to Texas!! yam!!

  • Moya mama toze gotovila "varnetchki". Spasibo za old Jewish recepie

  • I can't believe I used to cook and eat like this and am still alive to tell it!

  • at :042 - Is that the Great Freddy Blassie ??? The king of men !!!!

  • @LODGE4444 Doubt it. Blassie died in New York in June 2003 and his last known TV appearance was in Philly on RAW on May 12 that year. Odds are its just a lookalike.

  • I wonder if the people that were the reason this show came to visit their restaurant get free food for life. Or at least a discount. The restaurants in this show get such a priceless advertising opportunity they HAVE to thank the person responsible.

  • Not all Jews are kosher you idiots!!!

  • @8kcht3 what the hell is wrong with you? racist,anti-semitic jackass

  • @reasbey lol

  • meat and sour cream????

    i don't think so.

this is not a Kosher Jewish place for sure.

  • he IS the macher!

  • so this is jewish food. always wondered what jewish food was. now that i know, i'm never going to eat it. no disrespect to jews, but this just doesn't look good to me. except the sandwichs. those looked awesome

  • My advice would be to try it before you are decided on whether or not you will like it. Some of the preparation isn't representative of how it is made in most Jewish kitchens in Jewish homes. He's running a deli, way different preparation process than in a Jewish home. The food is delicious. Try it and you won't be sorry.

  • When in hell are places like this going to start using whole wheat pasta, whole grain breads and whole wheat noodles?

    Too much white flour!

    Yuck.

    Everything else gets a TEN!

  • My mouth is drooling!!

  • WOW!!! I am salivating...I live in San Diego and, I have to say, D.Z.Akins is the BEST deli here. I wish someone would do a video like this on them...

  • No comparison to D.Z. Akins. I have eaten at both, many times and D.Z. does not hold a candle to Kenny and Ziggy's.

  • quite sad. trying to label food selections as jewish traditional that mix milk and meat products.

    and disingenuous.

  • That Mish Mash soup is pathetic. The original, authentic, nuclear bowl of Mish Mash soup is at The Bagel on Chicago's north side!

  • ya gotta laugh, Jewish cooking so far from Kosher, meat kreplach dipped in sour cream! Oy vey!

  • @Sweetashanni and don't forget the corned beef with swiss cheese....... but you have to admire the effort .............. lol

  • @stephenfisch lol! Good ol' Jewish cooking, just take the Jew out of it!

  • @Sweetashanni Yeah, pastrami with cheese. Oy Vey is right.
