The Delawares called this people Mengwe, from which comes the word Mingo. In later times, however, the word Mingo became applied more particularly to the Cayugas. The celebrated Indian chief, Logan, who was of the Cayuga tribe, was familiarly known as the Mingo chief.
the most peaceful place i have been. The people and life is so open and sweet there. I am white, and I will marry a cherokee man, and they treat me like i am one of their own. I can not say enough of what I learned from these people, to be what I have come today. I am so greatful, I got to meet their culture, and their living.
I would like to know those who think I look Native or not because I was told my father is 1/8 Native and my mother is 1/6 Native. I would like to know if I look like I am Native American in any way to you.
i have visited several water falls in NC and love this one the best. there are some others i will visit next time i go but will definitely revisit this one.
@DerrickH1969 yes, there is a trail to the left of the waterfall. I just climbed it a few days ago. It's VERY steep and isn't the safest of trails, but it's well worth it!
That is a great video! We have a camp site at the Mingo falls Campground and it is one of my favorite places! Actually leaving in the morning to spend a long weekend there. Thanks for sharing.
lol i was all the way at the top of it me and my buddie climbed it on the left side and what you cant see is there is a fence that is broken at the top so you can get all the way up there...
U.N.I.T.Y. is going to Oklahoma this summer of 2007. Natives from all over the nation will be there with their tribe. Come meet new people, share your culture. Their will be entertainment; food and dances. Their will also be workshops for college and health...Last year UNITY went to Buffalo, NY, and it was fun. Research some more about it. See you there!
