my dad worked for E kidd of lancaster back in the 70s and drove a 1976 scania lb81 day cab he once drove a big A 401 and said it was brilliant he slept in due 2 it been comfortable because it was a sleepercab those were the days when u made a bed in the cab the best u could the scania had a day cab so it was long uncomfortble nights as well as been low powered comaped 2 the big A it struggled on big hills and use 2 get HOT
lovely , i went everywhere with my grandad in one of those not a cruiser tho a hell of a good truck she had a 14ltr cummins with a twinsplitter box ! We have ERF's now equally good Keep The Oldens Rollin ! ! !
the good thing about seddon atkinson trucks was the fact all the components were bought in .engines from cummins, rolls royce and gardner. with Eaton/Fuller/Rockwell running gear .you should be able to pick up spares or replacement parts for the strato relatively easy
Yes is a Pegaso troner in theese time, Seddon Atkinson was a mark of ENASA Pegaso, more later, ENASA Pegaso was sold to Iveco who buy Seddon in the same Pack, Pegaso disappear, but Seddon is built in the old Pegaso Factory in Madrid Spain, with Iveco Parts.
With the high price of scrap, I think unfortunately that this is the fate awaiting it. The high cost of diesel means that even some preservationists (the only likely market for something this old and relatively low powered) are giving up. Parts are no problem, cummins engine as used in various ERFs and same cab as DAF 95, I hope someone saves it. SAs of any description are getting rare now.
bugger was not far from the this morning i delivered to Davidstow could of had a look. How much you reckon they would get for scrap. I reckon to do it up it would be hard to get parts.
The cab was of Cabtec a society Between Pegaso and Daf, later, when Pegaso was sold to Iveco, Daf buy the 50% of Pegaso Cabtec to Iveco and now the Daf XF series, have the old Pegaso/Seddon Atkinson Cabs.
Thats my dad!!
