Actually, your very wrong here. Its probably the MOST original vampire movie out there. Its the only vampire movie where they "Sparkle" in the sunlight instead of burning from it. I believe it's the only vampire movie where they don't eat humans, they eat animals instead. Theres probably more differences, these are just what comes to mind. It had a lot more potential, they just chose a crappy movie director.

The Vampire Diaries book 1 came out in 1991. Twilight came out over 10 years later. The first vampire book ever was called The Vampyre and it is a mirror work of Twilight. And Sparkling in the sun is stupid. Vampires burn because their thousand year old skin is sensitive. Twilight vamps sparkle because they are made of stone. Other vampire books have some actual explanation for why vampires are there. In Twilight the vampires simply indulge in themselves for no apparent reason.
