  • This is quite good, and the experimental camera work, rather than distracting the listeners attention, seems to harmonize with the performance in a curious way. Thanks for sharing this.

  • Lola Astanova does a much better job.

  • really good. what nationality are u???? just wonderin

  • Muy expresivo, como debe ser. Me gustan mucho los crescendos de esta pieza. Cinco estrellas y gracias por subir este video.

Very expresive, as it must be played. I like so much the crescendos of this piece. Five stars and thanks for upload it

  • This sounds really percussive.

  • Oh! what an awful demonstration in playing this passage at 1:33 - it must be more flexed and relaxed. You can't rush through the notes and play it with haste, include a slight tenuto and slow down a bit to let out some more emotion.

  • Thank you for your interpretation:-) This inspires me to practice this piece more often. My 2 cents: practice every now and then without the pedal. You'll discover that you won't need it as much as you think. After a ten year hiatus, my fingers are very weak. A good strengthening exercise for me is to play as if my fingers control the damper pedal.. or simply hold the notes with my fingers rather than the pedal... I simply loved your interpretation, though. You have way more guts than I do:-)

  • I consider Barere's performance of this piece to be the best ever

  • The best interpretation of this piece i have ever heard.... other than mine.

  • @leahgwilliams ^_^ thanks! My favorite interpretation of this piece is the one that Horowitz does. It's just SO good.

  • @Lypur very nice. Have you heard the one by Scriabin himself, on piano roll?

Also, which recording of Horowitz do you prefer, the first or the latter?

  • @leahgwilliams cocky, lmao.

  • Awesome :)

  • I'm going to ignore the weird comments before mine and comment on what this video is:

    SCRIABIN = LOVE <3 <3 <3

    thank you for this video!!

  • I think you really need to try to make the different melodies in this piece sing out. Work on making beautiful, contrapuntal lines when the tenor/soprano have their duets! Also, the bass often creeps up/down chromatically to create surprising harmonic changes - it wouldn't hurt to accentuate that a bit. Good luck, keep practicing.

  • Dear young musician, I just work this Etude with one of my students at the "Franz-Liszt"-Hochschule für Musik in Weimar / Germany. Taste is different, art is subjective. But you have an idea and you try to tell it to the audience. And you do it well! Take my compliments and my advise: The most important is to enjoy yourself and others with music! Continue your way, it´s the right! Best regards from Frank Reim (Leipzig / Germany)!

  • Thank you very much, It's wonderful to hear from a teacher! ^_^ I think you have the right mental approach. Horowitz didn't care what people thought of his playing either. His advice to performers was to ignore comments from critics because each person will view your interpretation differently. The key is to enjoy the music you make yourself. I enjoyed it when I played it. That's all that matters to me :)

  • @BluePianoFrank

Dear professor what do you think about my performance ?

I am 12 years old, you can have a look on my channel for other works. Thanks a lot.

    Carlotta

  • How, dare we compare....

  • How dare you guys compare this guy to Horowitz ? wow. just you all WOW me.

  • @mrkwonsony

Enough. Enough with all of this crude belittling of modest playing. Enough of all these vapid facts, which are nothing more than commonly accepted opinions. Enough with all of this ridiculous hype over who's the better pianist. It's nothing more than a garbage argument, since it is so opinionated from each listener who spews it unnaturally.

  • Even the uploader accepts the fact the piano is not tuned and he's not better than Horowitz and I got 2 thumbs up for my comments. I see all your point of saying it's enough of saying these, but then back to the main question, that is, what's your point of making no point of saying it's enough to say those unnecessary comments ? Just realize yourself that your comment is as much ridiculous as what you think my comment is ridiculous. Now see the point ? Don't ? oh snap.

  • Ah, I see, you have +2 on your comment!

  • Yea, I try my best to keep it in tune. I usually get it tuned 2-3 times per year. Where I live though, it goes from -40 in the winter to +35 in the summer. So it's very hard to keep the piano in perfect tune.

  • great job, but next time make sure the piano is tuned ;)

  • lol. Yea, it's hard to keep this baby in tune during the winter when it's -40 C outside...

  • I love this! Bravo :)

  • Why did you call it "tortured song"? And what about it makes you wonder what kind of parents he had?

  • You´re doing a good job but playing few wrong notes like at 2:27 instead an e# you play just an e....Sorry but all in one:

Thank u for this great performance!

  • e #... you mean f, i hate notation...

  • u re really a great piano player.

i put ur videos sound in backgroud, working on the pc...

    u really touch the soul...

  • Gosh, this is the first piece that has actually touched me. I love Classical Music and all but it doesn't quite get there but this time it's different. 2:25 onwards is like Scriabin is spiritually dying, like his heartbeat almost... I love it and this piece has made me feel pain for the first time (IN a good way) Anybody else the same?

  • I love your comment! :) that's exactly how i felt when playing this piece... it's a sad but GOOD feeling hey?

  • amazing teacher and pianoplayer. Great performance

  • I love this playing... it gives out unique smells =)

  • 9 seconds in and I already prefer Horowitz' version.

  • i hope so, his version is perfect. Only thing is he added some notes to make it sound more epic in the lower bass. I couldn't do that because I was playing this piece for a piano competition at the time. :) but yea horowitz is WAY better than me.

  • Don't get me wrong, you still played great. Actually I didn't really have a problem with your playing, the video ruined my visuals of the song. I usually think of a setting like Pans Labyrinth instead of Wisconsin or wherever that is.

  • Don't feel bad, Horowitz was better than all of us.

  • @loltheworld not better than me; wasn't Cziffra better anyhow?

  • Oh come on, guy, Horowitz has been a god of piano and it's obvious that nobody could be compared with him. I really like this performance!

  • well, actually when Horowitz first started out people said he was absolute shit. so maybe by the time this guy's 40...

  • This is not a very intelligent comparison, is it?

  • I think such comments like this were provoked by the "MUST WATCH!" in the title.

For people who don't know Lypur, this could have an arrogant taste ...

Of course there is always someone who is better in everything, but it's unfair to be criticed by someone who is contributing *nothing* to this community and - possibly - can't even play piano at all.

    My 2 cents :)

  • Very Nice !

    *****

  • thanks!

  • great playing you play this masterpiece well!

  • Beautifully played

  • Fuck all you analytical fags to the power of 10 of your mums g strings. And lets this man have his moment of glory without the toothless hounds that appear all over youtube tearing strips off him. Bravo.

  • What is the reason for your crazy rampage though YouTube? Why all these asinine invectives from you. This is not a forum for making enemies with everyone. If you can't be civilized then just shut up.

  • Try again.

  • Amazing

  • Lypur,

why you wrote this tortured song composed by Scriabin?

  • I meant even someone in their 20s or 30s wouldn't be able to compose a piece this sophisticated.

  • wow, this songs is so deep, it just made me tear up. Truly a wonderful song.

  • I agree

  • This is no where close to what I would have chosen to listen to, but I must admit you have introduced me to another side of myself. I absolutely love what I've heard so far. It's now 2:30am I think I will save the rest for tomorrow. Absolutely beautiful.

  • :) I'm glad you liked something new to listen to.

  • You call this a tortured song. That makes me wonder, because I found it therapeutic. Well, this gives me homework anyway. LIke who is Scriabin..

  • Wow, this is a deep piece, even for someone to compose in his/her 20s or 30s.

  • Scriabin was 17 when he composed this.

  • The submission to Winter. Beautifully expressed last chords.

  • molto bravo! lento e profondo...

  • Simply Exquisite.

  • You play with sensitivity! Nice!

  • In my opinion this is one of his best pieces. You make it better! X)!

  • aww thank you ^_^

  • nice video-- very soulful--wished I'd practiced more on our old upright, player piano--thanks for a relaxing moment

  • Beautiful haunting rendition, thank you.

  • thanks!

  • Wonderful!!!

  • Bellissimo!!!!

  • were you sight reading it or do u have the music out for reference?

  • reference ^_^ I'm not that good of a sight reader XD

  • man. i really regretted for not taking my piano lessons seriously when i got the chance to have it. now i'm having a hard time looking for one. -.- // nice piece, magnificently done. :]

  • you're looking for piano lessons? do you know that i teach some lessons here on youtube?

  • LOVELY piece

  • do you have like a cd or something of your music people can buy?

  • Actually I don't. I think maybe If i record a few more songs maybe I'll throw some songs up to buy. Just gotta make sure I don't violate any copyright laws. Sometimes I think it's easier to break a copyright law than it is to screw in a light bulb.

  • I had fun watching the 2-in-1 video :) You sure love those trees... they are beautiful with the snow on...

It is great to see/hear you playing, take care

  • thanks maggie! Missed having you on the forum! :D I hope you're doing well!

  • Im doing excellent thx, just life is chaotic as always :) plus my internet connection was severed for over a month. That was a kind of devastating you can imagine :D

  • i love this piece. Its very nice to see you play it

  • thanks :)

  • I really enjoyed your Fur Elise video, it was one of the songs I first learned on the piano, but now I can read sheets =D.

  • great! it feels good to be able to read sheet music hey?

  • Well, I can read it, but it's more like deciphering. It takes awhile for me to see which notes are which, but I have been getting better at recognizing the pitches in one glance. The ladders like you said in one of your other videos still give me trouble. I try to remember ACE =D. Yeah, I have seen your Fur Elise tutorial video when I first started piano like half a year ago, right now I'm just taking piano as a high school class.

  • simply beautiful. :)

  • awesome!!

what is the complet name of that song?

  • that is the complete name :)

  • WOW! this was awesome

    =)

  • Simply exquisite.

  • glad you liked it :)

  • You are very right!! I Enjoyed this a whole lot more than the 9 2. It cant be compared!! :) This was played like a pro!!

  • :) well thanks! I'm glad you liked this better, I suppose I could relearn Op9 no 2 and make that one sound nicer. I have a few projects I'm working on though :) I'm mainly happy to be playing again! Glad you liked this one

  • fabulous

  • *bows*

  • bravo! bravo! encore!

    good stuff

  • thanks!

  • Awesome!

  • Watching performances like yours really reminds me that I still have long ways to go...

Thank you for the amazing interpretation.

  • You're welcome! I still have a long way to go myself. Listening to horowitz's version vs mine. Mine is so horrible compared to his. That shows me how far I need to go to be able to play at the highest caliber.

  • Hey Lypur,

Also listen to Austin Condradi(Scriabin's student) from the Mignon piano roll recordings and Giles has a nice version on you tube. Hard to believe Scriabin could compose so tragically at age 15. Peace.

  • Wow, Love it! Very musical and inspiring performance!

  • thanks!!

  • Hey Lypur! I can play fur elise perfectly now! My left hand is getting better everyday! Thank you so much for your help and your support! Many many amyn many thanks! 5/5, that was amazing

  • thanks!

  • So Andrew... when's the walk through?

  • ha. ha. ha. never! There's tooooo many notes for a walk through on that :) That's why i teach people to read for themselves! :D It's the lazy man's way out *points at himself* me=lazy man

  • Hey, been a long while since we talked, very nice piece!

  • I know! I haven't seen you on the forum, where have you been?

  • That was the best gift to my ears ever. I set back. Watched you play and the beautiful back ground you had in your video. As your playing totally washed all my worries away. You are out of this world. I can not wait to hear more of your magnificent playing. God bless you and your family.

  • " the best gift to my ears ever" wow! what a compliment! :D Thank you so much! :) God bless you to

  • That was great,

Its great to see you back on youtube, it would be a great loss, if you stopped posting. So thank you so much for being back, I really have a lot to thank you (for what i've learned from your lessons) not only for the piano, but to understand music better. Anyways

    Great Video

    Take Care

  • :) hey! I never left :) well I guess I did have sort of a stoppage of uploads. I have a bunch of videos I'll be uploading! A new lesson too!

  • Great job, my friend!!!

  • thanks!! :)

  • that was SUPERB buddy! !:) i must say you look kickass in that coat reminds me of Grit from the GBA game advance wars!!! beautiful tone and mood added =D plz post more of these!!! love em 5/5*

  • HEY buddy!!!!!! :D thanks so much!!! I'm glad you enjoyed it! yup, i'm awesome at pulling the badass look ;)

Thanks! getting the voicing and mood right on this piece isn't always easy, you have to be so sensitive with the piano.

  • Hi Andrew :) Very good performance of a piece I have never heard before :) So this was Very enjoyable :) 5* of course ;)

    Thomas

  • Thanks Thomas! ^_^ I'm glad you enjoyed this piece! ^_^ It's slow, but very thick, getting the balence of the notes and creating good vocal lines is pretty tricky. I still think I could've done better, but I wanted to put out a new video

  • And your hair is so cool....

How do you get it like that?

  • A little gel, it's mostly practise spiking my hair. I hardly have to try at all because of the years i've been doing it plus my hair type. Some days though my hair won't listen to me and just looks bad. lol Usually then I get it cut.

  • It's been a long time since you've posted a video.

Great job, I've learned many great piano skills from you! :]

  • I know! it's been way to long since I posted! I've been busy with some things but I've got some videos coming out :)

  • wondderfulllllllll you did such a good job!

  • thank you! I'm happy to hear it! I was kinda not completely happy with my performance.

  • thank you kindly ^_^

A new piano lesson should be out by the end of the weekend.

  • sweet! i was wondering about those. =D
