This is quite good, and the experimental camera work, rather than distracting the listeners attention, seems to harmonize with the performance in a curious way. Thanks for sharing this.
Oh! what an awful demonstration in playing this passage at 1:33 - it must be more flexed and relaxed. You can't rush through the notes and play it with haste, include a slight tenuto and slow down a bit to let out some more emotion.
Thank you for your interpretation:-) This inspires me to practice this piece more often. My 2 cents: practice every now and then without the pedal. You'll discover that you won't need it as much as you think. After a ten year hiatus, my fingers are very weak. A good strengthening exercise for me is to play as if my fingers control the damper pedal.. or simply hold the notes with my fingers rather than the pedal... I simply loved your interpretation, though. You have way more guts than I do:-)
I think you really need to try to make the different melodies in this piece sing out. Work on making beautiful, contrapuntal lines when the tenor/soprano have their duets! Also, the bass often creeps up/down chromatically to create surprising harmonic changes - it wouldn't hurt to accentuate that a bit. Good luck, keep practicing.
Dear young musician, I just work this Etude with one of my students at the "Franz-Liszt"-Hochschule für Musik in Weimar / Germany. Taste is different, art is subjective. But you have an idea and you try to tell it to the audience. And you do it well! Take my compliments and my advise: The most important is to enjoy yourself and others with music! Continue your way, it´s the right! Best regards from Frank Reim (Leipzig / Germany)!
Thank you very much, It's wonderful to hear from a teacher! ^_^ I think you have the right mental approach. Horowitz didn't care what people thought of his playing either. His advice to performers was to ignore comments from critics because each person will view your interpretation differently. The key is to enjoy the music you make yourself. I enjoyed it when I played it. That's all that matters to me :)
Enough. Enough with all of this crude belittling of modest playing. Enough of all these vapid facts, which are nothing more than commonly accepted opinions. Enough with all of this ridiculous hype over who's the better pianist. It's nothing more than a garbage argument, since it is so opinionated from each listener who spews it unnaturally.
Even the uploader accepts the fact the piano is not tuned and he's not better than Horowitz and I got 2 thumbs up for my comments. I see all your point of saying it's enough of saying these, but then back to the main question, that is, what's your point of making no point of saying it's enough to say those unnecessary comments ? Just realize yourself that your comment is as much ridiculous as what you think my comment is ridiculous. Now see the point ? Don't ? oh snap.
Yea, I try my best to keep it in tune. I usually get it tuned 2-3 times per year. Where I live though, it goes from -40 in the winter to +35 in the summer. So it's very hard to keep the piano in perfect tune.
Gosh, this is the first piece that has actually touched me. I love Classical Music and all but it doesn't quite get there but this time it's different. 2:25 onwards is like Scriabin is spiritually dying, like his heartbeat almost... I love it and this piece has made me feel pain for the first time (IN a good way) Anybody else the same?
i hope so, his version is perfect. Only thing is he added some notes to make it sound more epic in the lower bass. I couldn't do that because I was playing this piece for a piano competition at the time. :) but yea horowitz is WAY better than me.
Don't get me wrong, you still played great. Actually I didn't really have a problem with your playing, the video ruined my visuals of the song. I usually think of a setting like Pans Labyrinth instead of Wisconsin or wherever that is.
I think such comments like this were provoked by the "MUST WATCH!" in the title.
For people who don't know Lypur, this could have an arrogant taste ...
Of course there is always someone who is better in everything, but it's unfair to be criticed by someone who is contributing *nothing* to this community and - possibly - can't even play piano at all.

Thanks Thomas! ^_^ I'm glad you enjoyed this piece! ^_^ It's slow, but very thick, getting the balence of the notes and creating good vocal lines is pretty tricky. I still think I could've done better, but I wanted to put out a new video
A little gel, it's mostly practise spiking my hair. I hardly have to try at all because of the years i've been doing it plus my hair type. Some days though my hair won't listen to me and just looks bad. lol Usually then I get it cut.

Thanks Thomas! ^_^ I'm glad you enjoyed this piece! ^_^ It's slow, but very thick, getting the balence of the notes and creating good vocal lines is pretty tricky. I still think I could've done better, but I wanted to put out a new video

And your hair is so cool....
How do you get it like that?

A little gel, it's mostly practise spiking my hair. I hardly have to try at all because of the years i've been doing it plus my hair type. Some days though my hair won't listen to me and just looks bad. lol Usually then I get it cut.

It's been a long time since you've posted a video.
Great job, I've learned many great piano skills from you! :]
