I've made an extended version of this song that is about 33 minutes in length. The looping, by what I've revised multiple times, is flawless, and the sound quality is perfect. I've also made a new ending for the song that isn't loud and abrupt (but it's nothing to brag about, honestly; it simply fades out before it starts to get very loud).
The only issue, though, is that I'm unable to upload a video of that length at the moment. I'll figure something out soon, though.
it's like the ending of the Sopranos (tv series), strange but it makes the song more better (although, they play an 'ending' for the song on the live performaces as I could see). I agree with Nighterr, the song must be about the life, or about fighting against the death, the pain getting stonger in every second and then suddenly it just ends with the peaceful nothing.
Should I be at ease because now I know there is no problem with my CD that I bought? Or should I curse somebody somewhere because this awesome song ends with an ending seemingly done by the hands of a Sound Forge amateur user? Why Apocalyptica? Why? Awesome song, worst ending I have ever heard in quite a while. It would've been kind of understandable if it simply ended abruptly... but why this horrible sound at the end? This ending completely ruins the listening experience of this whole CD...
The reason it cuts off at the end is that Kaamos is the finnish word for polar night. And when the sun comes back there isnt any gradual fade from polar night to light, it just happens...so when the song cuts off is when the sun comes back up.
I wish they'd re-release this song with the ending they do when they play Kaamos live (best one I've heard so far is the one on youtube called "Kaamos Apocalyptica Mexico 08/07/10")
This is my favorite song by Apocalyptica, but the ending is a bit annoying...
I remember not listening to the ending when I first got the song, and when I was asleep, the song played through. It sounded like a nuke made out of guitars and cellos blew up in my ear.
Now I'm used to the ending, but still, I think it should have an alternate (quieter) end.
@VexedAgain I think they should have settled it down back to the tone it had in the beginning to wrap it up. That would have been great. Too bad im not a songwriter :/
this piece has an absolutely erotic atmosphere. its like strong passionate sex.

I'm working on it.
*Trying to get absolutely everything school-wise out of the way first before I start to upload my song extension tests*

@BakaOokamiYasha I think he meant that this song should be placed, as a soundtrack, in such a movie.

It's a reasonably obscure piece of music, but those four cellos convey more emotion at any given segment of this song than every pop song ever made.

I am wondering why it finishes like that. But surely it's on purpose, because everywhere it's the same.
Now we should wait for Eicca to explain why the ending is so sudden. ;)))

I don't see how it's an annoying ending, though it is abrupt...still, I like it a lot. Like all of their songs, it has emotion an a story.

I agree OmniNero, I'd love to choreograph a fireworks display to this on AfterGlow... but that ending... :-/

I found a scratch on the CD when I bought it, and I thought it messed this song up, I was so mad! But it really does end like this? It's a pity D:

As much as I love this song it annoys me how it suts off right in the middle of an awesome bit. And no, coma does not follow well from this.
simplythemediocre 2 years ago
the first time I heard this song, someone sent the mp3 file to me. I thought it didn't finish loading!
This song can't have a quiet ending, though. It doesn't seem right.
herzenverbrecher 2 years ago
a good follow up for this one (take it as a suggestion) is Until It Sleeps. A very good song too.

This song is great but clearly an intro or the first part of a larger piece. Anyone know what the 2nd (or more) parts are called?
Mazthoril 2 years ago 2
It is it's own piece. However, on the album 'Cult' it is directly followed by the song 'Coma'.
