hunting is essential. If you that defend animal rights did everything to protect them and finish with hunting, then the deer population will increase a lot (this is documentated) and then they will become closer to the city, then destroying the food cultures of your markets, that you eat, they're become next to your houses, probably hit your children, then you wanted to kill them, and then forgoting the animal rights.

I understand what you're saying, but nothing in nature is fair either. Think about a hawk and a rabbit. The hawk will spot the rabbit hundreds of yards away. The rabbit will never see the hawk coming until it is too late. Most predators in nature ambush or stalk their prey without the prey ever noticing them until the attack. What a hunter does is no different.

We might not need them for food, but we are not causing anything to go extinct. They sure aren't losing any land to hunters because we don't hunt in cities, they hunt in the woods and fields.
I personally have known 2 people to die from deer auto accidents one was a deputy sheriff on the job the other a mother of two. I do hunt and have seen many car deer accidents and have put the deer down as they were not dead. Not as a fun kick but as a humane thing to do. In my state we have a unlimited doe take and that is a lot of good meat for alot of families that need it and you still see a high # of deer on the road. So the key i think is common sense slow down in rut be aware at night.
A deer hit me on the drivers side door tonight while driving home from the grocery store and it happened so quick there was no time to react.Thankfully the damage is minor,only a large dent.If that deer had jumped through the window I would have been killed.I think that deer lived because as I looked back through the mirror it got off it's back,stood up, then ran into the woods.I never thought in a million years this would happen to me but then again I live in Michigan and should know better.

That isn't going to stop the deer from running in ther road or drivers from speeding. Hunting is the cheast way.

Agree with you, we need regulated hunting season to manage population, but one point I have to make 'STOP DRIVING LIKE IDIOTS!' slow down 'DUMB SOB's', I drive for a living and have avoided deer colisions by simply paying attention and driving slower at night and on back roads, and slowing down when I see animals in the shoulder, it is not that hard, just common sense. Some colisions however, are unavoidable.

If you care for human lives, join the hunters and help make a difference. My best friend was almost killed when a deer ran out in front of him in November. No one could hunt at the time he ran off the road because it was about midnight, and also too, he was by a school. Like I said, the rut is to blame. There was no gunshots or anything to spook the deer, he just ran out in the road. When it is dark, is when over 60% of deer/auto accidents take place. So don't blame those of us that care.

One half hour you say? Sunrise during hunting season is 7:00 and sunset is 6:00. And it is actually illegal to shoot a deer when its dark, because you would have to use a spotlight. Trust me, I took classes on hunting, I know the rules. You put an 8 hour time period when the majority of the accidents happen, we are only allowed to hunt for one hour out of those 8.

If DNR was so "conserned" that there is not enough wildlife killers why do they negate the deer birth control.? NJ might have an increase in accidents with deer, but NJ still does not have the highest. It is not even in the top ten states listed to have the highest number of deer/auto collisions. Neither is N. Carolina. Texas is, but Texas is a huge state compared to most with a huge deer population.

I personally have known 2 people to die from deer auto accidents one was a deputy sheriff on the job the other a mother of two. I do hunt and have seen many car deer accidents and have put the deer down as they were not dead. Not as a fun kick but as a humane thing to do. In my state we have a unlimited doe take and that is a lot of good meat for alot of families that need it and you still see a high # of deer on the road. So the key i think is common sense slow down in rut be aware at night.

A deer hit me on the drivers side door tonight while driving home from the grocery store and it happened so quick there was no time to react.Thankfully the damage is minor,only a large dent.If that deer had jumped through the window I would have been killed.I think that deer lived because as I looked back through the mirror it got off it's back,stood up, then ran into the woods.I never thought in a million years this would happen to me but then again I live in Michigan and should know better.

Plus hunters are in the forest tracking wounded deer (very common in bowhunting) or even in shotgun they do have to retrieve the deer and drag the body home or get on their Atv and spook more deer out of the forest. The peak time according to Ontario Transportation is early morning (5am-7am) and after sunset (5pm-11pm) in NY D.E.C it says " with most of the collisions occurring between 6:30 and 7:30 AM and 4:30 and 6:30 PM" in another it says "

Who is going to pay for all of that? Birth controls cost a lot, about $1,000 per deer. Hunters kill around 8-9 million deer a year. Do the math. Fences? Are you serious? Do you realize how much that would cost to fence off every road? You're looking at fencing hundreds of thousands of miles at the least. Better road signs? That isn't going to stop the deer from running in ther road or drivers from speeding. Hunting is the cheast way.

However, dusk is also a time of other increased activity. In the warmth of early autumn, depending on the climate, the deer prefer coming out to feed at dusk rather than through the heat of the day. In late autumn, when most hunters hunt, deer are liable to be more active at dusk because of the rut. Bucks will be chasing does, and both will be less cautious than usual, and both will be less cautious than usual, and more likely to wind up in the wide open in good position for a shot.

Agree with you, we need regulated hunting season to manage population, but one point I have to make 'STOP DRIVING LIKE IDIOTS!' slow down 'DUMB SOB's', I drive for a living and have avoided deer colisions by simply paying attention and driving slower at night and on back roads, and slowing down when I see animals in the shoulder, it is not that hard, just common sense. Some colisions however, are unavoidable.

If you care for human lives, join the hunters and help make a difference. My best friend was almost killed when a deer ran out in front of him in November. No one could hunt at the time he ran off the road because it was about midnight, and also too, he was by a school. Like I said, the rut is to blame. There was no gunshots or anything to spook the deer, he just ran out in the road. When it is dark, is when over 60% of deer/auto accidents take place. So don't blame those of us that care.

The reason why it has gone up is because more people quit hunting in the past few years, and State Farm did some research and found discovered that deer/auto collisions are the highest they have ever been in years. One half hour you say? Sunrise during hunting season is 7:00 and sunset is 6:00. And it is actually illegal to shoot a deer when its dark, because you would have to use a spotlight. Trust me, I took classes on hunting, I know the rules. You put an 8 hour time period when the majority of the accidents happen, we are only allowed to hunt for one hour out of those 8.

If DNR was so "conserned" that there is not enough wildlife killers why do they negate the deer birth control.? If you actually payed attention to the video, about a quater of the way through, it explains why deer auto accidents increase, its because of the rut, aka, deer mating season, and plus, bow season starts one month before the accidents reach their peak level, and more people bow hunt than rifle hunt, how do you explain that? And one more thing, hunting isn't murder. Every English dictionary is against you animal rights people on that one. Murder is the unlawful killing of a human being.

NJ might have an increase in accidents with deer, but NJ still does not have the highest. It is not even in the top ten states listed to have the highest number of deer/auto collisions. Neither is N. Carolina. Texas is, but Texas is a huge state compared to most with a huge deer population.
