  • Awesome ; )

  • can i get a breakdown of the times of the samples in gil scott herons song?

  • Get the 4000 I say too

  • nice beat, stranger. Good to see that you're responding to SOMEBODY online.

  • you know what's funny about people covering beats and chopping the same samples and stuff? that if they had actually made it first, it mightve been as popular as the persons who actually made it. ahaha

  • hell yeah sk8 all day

  • yo bro i been lookin for a mpc and a cheep one i can get thats good tough also, wich one do u think i shud get?

  • get the 4000. i'm looking for a 4000 right now.

  • @RUDOLPHLYRICS

hey great vid, i just got an MPC 1000 and i'm tryin to sample too, but how can i match the tempo of my sample to the beat? i mean if i don't know the original tempo, how can i find out?

and how can you play it at a slower tempo without affecting the pitch? thank you =)

  • u match the tempo by using the "tempo tap" button(or whatever it is on the 1000) and it should get u closest to it then u can manually adjust it from there. u can chop the sample and just replay it out. 4 pads for every bar will get u the best results.

  • @MrHotcheetozz get the akai mpc 3000 or the 1000

  • @MrHotcheetozz get a 2500, do ur research first but

  • damn that is dope azz fuck....what kinda mpc you got...im planning on gettin one very soon....any mpc that you would recomend??

  • nigga i feel you every time i try to sample somthin dudes allready beat me to the punch ps this video is dope

  • so use the sample and flip it another way

  • fuuuck I was going to sample that song

  • Good to see more skaters in hiphop.

  • haha, i'm not a skater, but i know the backdoor guys pretty well.

  • excellent remake..!!

  • Comment removed

  • i did "it aint hard to tell" years ago but the only reason i never posted it was cuz i didn't have the horn sample. it's just the bassline from "human nature" filtured and stanley clark drums chopped.

  • Bro...you are sick...

  • Nice remake of a great track. Kanye got skills...no doubt and kudos to you for putting it together. Wonder how much the estate of GSH will earn of the royalties? Read the back of Kanye's CD's....some many sample credits, he must have to pay out millions. Fair is fair but it's got to hurt giving all that money up. Hence '808 and Heartbreak'.

  • sampled tracks is usually 50/50 on the publishing split. but this track was written by kanye and common so maybe common gave him 25% for doing the beat. 50 cent takes 50% off the top so if you sample a song for a beat you give him, u get no future royalties.(unless you got clout like that)

  • 808s is full of samples too

  • evrytime i remake the beat and press rec all my samples are really spaced out..is it the time stretch?

  • no time stretching. it depends. u got to match the tempo when u chop up samples. like, if a sample's original tempo is 120 bpm, u can chop it up an dmake it 94bpm without tuning it down or time stretching. and if a sample is slow and u want it faster, u can just trim off the ending. hope that helps.

  • did u use time stretching bro

  • Comment removed

  • tuning

  • Nice... For those who don't know better. There is a difference between sampling and jacking a beat. I hate kanye, but damn he knows what he's doing and he makes good shit for other people.

  • dude forgot the drums which come from a fatback band song by the way

  • no offence but it shows how easy it is to make a kanye beat...i think kanye has got a good ear...but i dunno..somthing about just chopping and getting rich is ummm i dunno..somethings wrong with dat haahhah

  • I see your point, but the main thing is he makes great music.

  • Its the beauty of hip hop. The simplicity, yet, being able to make something so fresh and rejuvenating, thats a blessing my friend, nothing that should be frowned upon. If anything, it should encourage anyone to step up and try their own hand at it.

  • Yo my man how do you sample voices alone?

  • man that is too dope, mad props to you friend!

  • "This is street ra-dio for unsung hero ridinin' in a regal tryin' to stay legal"

  • Check out mobbin in my old school Humble Beginningz

  • all i got to say is NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • How were you making timestretch, within the mpc?

But how do you get the exact tempo then?

  • Which mpc model is that ?

    sorry Im a noob : /

  • 2000xl

  • Thank you :)

  • Remake this is me by Common on his second album the drums from "Momma Miss America" by Paul McCartney and the sample from power of love by McLain, Alton & Destiny

  • nice

  • does the scream come from Long Red ?

  • yup

  • but in we almost lost detroit i can't find the scream. whats minute what second it's comin ? i heard the same scream in "It ain't hard to tell"by Nas and in a damu's prod. and i want the same scream in my next beatz.

    sorry if my english's bad...I'm french :D

  • the scream come from the song "Long Red" by the "Mountain"

    bye

  • Thats because its from Mountains song Long Red, the live version

  • but in we almost lost detroit I can't find where the "yeah" comin. what minute? waht seconds ?

sorry if my english's bad, i'm french.

  • good explanation....thanks

  • need to get a mpc cant aford it right now tho

    bless!

  • I feel you! cant afford one either

  • beautiful track man

  • There is and will never be a new Preem, Common ment that as a joke.

  • Where I can find the long scream ?

  • he took it from the song, "we alsmost lost detroit" by gil scott heron...

  • not the the scream

  • kanye did do this, it does sound sort of like primo, thats why common gave him a shout on the song saying "i found the new primo"

  • The time and effort he puts into finding loops and breaks is crazy. That takes skills to find loops like this and flip it in to 2 sections for switch ups.

A Nigga like Preemo would've found 2 small parts to chop and use for Stabs and Killed it also. that shows the style of each producer and thats why Preemo and kanye are both respected.

  • Imagine the time and efford put into making the samples!

  • lol

  • No Kanye did make this not premo, get your shit straight

  • kane didnt make this

    premo did!

  • haha. what?

  • uhh. oh.

  • sorry my bad,

    kanye did produce this

    it sounds premo ish tho

n he gives the man a shout out in the track my mistake

  • dope video man, you got skills. peace my fellow digga

  • I know this might be a dumb question but um, do u need to have the real song on a cd, record,or mp3 player to put on mpc to chop it?

  • haha. well yeah, there really is no other way

  • sorry but can u do mp3 formated songs too?

  • well the only formats that are allowed thru the 2kxl are wav and snd. u have to convert the mp3 to wav.

  • what i do is sample my sounds from the computer that way i could sample mp3s,cds,imeem,youtube whatever. all wou need is to go to radioshack and buy 1/4 to 1/8 adaptors

  • trust me, it's so much easier to just convert it to a wav file and put it on a floppy or zip.

  • i just finished doing this tutorial and remaking the beat. Everything he said is pretty much right too. This is a good way to learn to make beats. Those chops have to be precise when u make the beat. Or it wont sound right. It is a good tutorial for someone learning how to chop samples and make beats. Thanks for the knowledge

  • thats dope man...if kanye can make somthing easy u can compe up with a crazy chop aswell lol

  • cool. your timing with the "yeah" button is cinda wrong though.

  • "it's not a easy beat to make"

    HA HA HA

  • what's funny about that? It's fuckin true...:)

  • it aint

  • the hardest part to remaking the beat is actually finding the proper tempo and placement of where the song was chopped. But I can say this, props to Kanye cuz this is one of the tightest beats I've heard in like 8 years.

  • i wasn't referring to the remaking of the beat as being hard, i meant the initial making of the beat. finding pieces thruout the song to chop and place together to sound good is hard. this was NOT one of those 10 minutes to make 106 & park beats. there was a lot of time and effort put into it.

  • Oh well, yeah. Any beat you sample to make is essentially hard, unless you're just sampling a portion of a song for the beat. That's why I respect Kanye as a producer so much, because he actually takes these classics and reworks them into a nice funky jam that sounds reminiscent of the original.

  • WORD. I remember finding this record in my bro's stash, and I was trying to find a break. Back then chopping wasn't used how it is now, and I tried to find a good loop that had the "soul" of the song. I couldn't do it haha. I'm not a big Kanye fan but when I first heard this song, I knew exactly what song it was and thought the way he made the beat was pretty dope

  • shit up bitch its not fuckin true u no tlent havin twat

  • This is a sound video, cheers boss.

  • nice one, this would be handy if i was gettin into makin beats out of that.

  • Great demonstration, thanks.

  • NICE!!!

  • Coo Demonstration! nice walk-thru feelin this here...

    Do u have n e same videos?

  • that gil scot heron sample we almost lost detroit is heat hi-tek used in for brown skin laddy off the blackstar lp 10 years ago but ye flipped it hey rudolph how do i get my songs and sequences loaded on the mpc onto cd or another format i know theres away i just copped an mpc and wanna get my tracks out the box ya know scream at me god

  • u can hook the mpc to a studio console or DAW using the 8outs(or just stereo outs if u dont have the 8outs) or go from the headphone out to your computer soundcard and record thru soundforge. that's the cheapest way u gon be able to do it. and u can get a nice quality recording from it as well. if u can't do either of those, purchase a cd recorder and do it that way.

  • it was actually J.Rawls that produced Brown Skin Lady

  • is it the part when he says long red....i need to know the part cus i went through the song like a hundred times and couldnt figure it out

  • i can't find the live version on youtube anymore. but that's the one he got it from.

  • o i got the album version...do you have that scream on mp3 file?

  • pm me your email and i'll send u and exact wav file of what i used in the vid.

  • how do you get that long red scream?

  • it's from the song. wit the proper eq u can push the drums to the back a bit

  • dude, i just cant find the start t det beat in the original sample :P

  • using this vid(/watch?v=3Z79XDuEXRc&feature=related)when he says, "losing our mind", at the 1:25 mark, that's it.

  • i dont like kanye that much but i give him mad props on this beat. i listen to this all the time and its soooo dope. props kanye.

    Love.

  • hahahah

nodding to it at the same time...

    BIG UPS!!!

    one of my favs.

  • hahaha. i didn't even notice i was nodding to it until now.

  • wow i'm impressed on kanye's part for creating this like you said its not an easy beat to make maybe to remake but as far as creating it it takes talent!

  • holy shit, i didnt no that bassline actually cam from the sample. That is the best sounding bassline from a chopped sample i hav ever heard. no doubt.

  • cool

  • i did that over on fruity loops no problem

  • doope

  • I know most folk might not have been feeling this "expose" but I enjoyed it. I make beats myself and I hope my stuff makes someone like you want to dissect my tracks. That shows that I'm appreciated. You doing this made me like Kanye even more. I love hearing the original samples to dope beats. Good dough, my dude. Peace.

  • Coool.

  • Respect thats BIG!

Might try it myself, no MPC though.

Midi keyboard and Reason 4 should do

    Safe

  • africa rings

  • i dont usually like seeing people do this, but you got it on point, its the exact same beat, i dont know about drums, maybe? but still tight

  • Good Job Rudy... now try that "You Dont Know My Name" I tried it, it was even harder... anyway the drums are from "Let The Drums Speak" by The Fatback Band"

  • dope, yo imma producer to, just puttin that out there, but you got any beats i can check out? just wanna check em out for pointers, and maybe write to em

  • nah man. i'm not a beatmaker or really too knowledgeable of the subject. i just know how to rework them.

  • i see, well i ain't never had a sampler so like, why does it seem like you never have to cut the sample even , like you know what im saying? like when you record the sample im sure theres like extra parts recorded before and after the loop, does the MPC have shit to cut it off?

  • it depends.. if it's one constant loop, u don't have to trim it even,. u can put the pad on "mono" mode which means it will restart no matter what at the end of each bar, 2 bars, etc according to the bpm u have set.. if u have a beat that is choppy(primo style) u have to trim the parts like you want them to prevent extra sounds from bleeding into the track.. hope that explained it for ya.

  • o well thats tight then, do you have to do it on another program to trim it?

  • hahhaa. no man. u can do everything in the mpc.

  • i like to see things broken down... good efforts

  • I had gotten similar results from another program and just using your multi- channel sound manager(windows)on your pc to 4+

Not hating on Kanye just realize how much computers do.

  • 5 STARZ!!!!

  • almost perfect.....i dont think its any screams in the chorus though...B+ A- take your pick good jobb on the remake

  • yeah i know that.. i just was trying to prove i actually chopped it up.

  • ohh....still keep up the good work

  • where did you take the long red?

i think its 1:51 but it doest sound good

  • it screams right before "the people" almost every time

  • nah im talkin in the original song where did he took the sample

  • listen to the whole song you bum, you'll hear it.

  • I love these videos showing how the samples were put together. screw that jackfrost dude.

  • it's some bich that got banned from a website i help moderate.. nothing more.

  • why are so many people making vids of other people's beats like they're hard to make or something? if you guys spent more time making beats your own way maybe we wouldn't have so much of the same garbage coming out

  • spending so much time recreating other people's corny tracks.. no wonder there is such an abundance of wack beats out these days

  • ´damn kanye went genius with this sample right here , really good producing and diffrent from what he usually does, props

  • you should throw more mpc vids up man

  • Man this was great! It takes a lot of creativity to put those exact pieces together to make a great beat...

  • real dope

  • yeah, a lot of ye's stuff is rather simple(if he's even doing it*) and zone chopping isn't bad if u want to replay it out at a faster speed without having to change the pitch(see pete rock video) but i agree with what u are saying.. the 2500 let's u chop even lower than 16 pieces. now that is unnecessary.

  • i meant it was hard from coming up wit the original idea.. it's not hard at all once u listen to it and know how it's done, but to create a masterpiece like this takes a while and a long thought process of chopping samples and arranging sequences.

  • gotta mpc 2000 used wit no manual. how do u chop samples?

  • damn thats crazy

  • ill shizz

  • much respect, that's sick man

  • Well chopped!

  • DOPE.

  • i'm feelin the rings rakim

  • oh shit haaaaaaaaaa! rakim. I aint no joke! LOL

  • it's gil... "jil" son... anyways your fuckin talented...

  • dope shit maang.. you got ya shit on point

  • he do sound like nas
