Why has nobody ever taught me this before? Ffs why do dentists or maybe even the school teach me this before! It's more fucking useful than knowing H2O= water.. God I learn so much bullshit
About a year ago I got my tooth knocked out and we got it put back in but it got infected about 5 months later so it got pulled and now I have a stupid ass tooth on a retainer it sucks so bad. Never get ur tooth knocked out!!!
I used to wrestle, and my tooth got elbowed and almost fell out. The medic at the match told me exactly what you're saying. Also, I put my retainer in (from after having braces), and that helped to set the tooth back into the right place. To this day (8 years later) my tooth is still strong and in its correct place. It is nice to see this video usamedstudent.
Over 30 years ago, my son had some teeth knocked out at school, and a very smart teacher put his teeth in a cup with his own saliva. We took this to the dentist and he said that the teacher actually 'saved the life' of my son's teeth. Today, he still has his own teeth, including the ones that were knocked out!
i got my tooth knocked out with a hockey stick while playing hockey and i was going to put it right back in... but the problem was i couldnt find it. So, i went to the dentist and ended up getting a root canal and a bionic tooth and so on. But the worst part is, when i got home, i sat down and put my hands in my pockets and guess what i found. The stupid tooth!
I loved learning this! It's so much fun to learn things in medicine that make you go "wow, I thought it would be the opposite way" or if the treatment or way to fix the problem is actually the opposite of what you expect! Great video! I'm sure you will make for an enthusiastic doctor!
This is good info thanks, on the playground in 5th grade one time the guys were playing football and my friend dillon got hit in the mouth then spit his tooth somewhere and he came up to the teacher and she didn't know what to do. It was a bit funny though because he was tapping her shoulder and she was like "WHAT!" then she saw his mouth.
hello, i love watching your videos, and i love your passion for education, im about to embark on my education studying sports development at university.
You didn't mention how to take care of the re-attached tooth the few days or even weeks afterward. It's pretty hard to avoid touching, let alone biting with the still wobbly tooth, no? Would the tooth still hurt? That's pretty tough for a fidgety child. Can he still brush his teeth like normal?
Thnx for posting though. It's still a good piece of health information.
re: syncmaster915n, thanks for your message -- once you go to the hospital, the dentists will help save the tooth (they'll splint the tooth, etc...) so the most important thing is to get to the hospital with a tooth that can be saved.
Yeah i get that and thanx. But assuming the tooth is fixed, how do you take care of it immediately afterward? Like can you still brush normally (probably not)? What if it still hurts? With a fidgety child, it's doubly hard.
Wow, that's crazy! That's amazing, I would have never thought. This would have been useful a few months back for a friend of mine who was wrestling during practice and knocked his tooth out. I'll definitely share this with my friends, family and club. They'd certainly enjoy it, as I did.
Also, btw this is Ali Darwish,'doitdeviant' (my previous username), I created a new profile.
thanks! yes if tooth is dirty, you can rinse with milk or HBSS, and put back in -- doctors will give the patient antibiotics, so you won't have to worry about infection
Thats good to know, I don't do dangerous sports but I am clumsy enough to fall :). By the way isn't more likely that the tooth gets chipped which is probably worse because that doesn't re-attach.

will the hospital reattach the tooth for you or do you have to call your dentist?
iamaGod357 2 years ago
re: iamaGod357. it depends on which hospital and where. at children's hospital of boston, they will put in splints for you. hope this helps!
