This was a great band. I saw them in a small club in North Houston. I was around 13 years old. My guitar teacher supplied them with Kustom amps for the gig, so he was the one who told us where they were playing. I was expecting some back up musicians to carry them like the inept Monkeys had to do, but they played their own instruments, sang harmony, just like The Beatles. I know it sounds corny, but I remember that really impressed me and my friends.
Hey guys!! I cannot believe my ears....Yes its me Toni Robberts once married to Ray. He was such a goof. I loved him to death I really think we were just way too young. Hey Ray if you are out there You still rock in my eyes..Hey Blackie, how are you and what have you been up to??
Another great song by a great group!! If memory serves me correctly, Curt List and Mike Bleike went to Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena, Texas. Could someone verify this and where are the guys today???
thanks for the post. yes we both went to Rayburn (69 graduates). sadly, curt took his own life in the mid-70's. Me (mike bleike) and the rest of The Sound Investment got back together in the 90's as Blackie and The Bullets..several videos of that reincarnation posted here. yes, most of us are still alive and kicking. looking forward to 40th SR reunion Aug 22 at South Shore Harbor.
Hey TomCat. I used to go to the Foley's Town Hall music show every Saturday morning or whenever they had it. I got to see The Union. They had a song called I Sit and Cry I live in Hou TX
That kid could sing...you should have heard him live! He would adlib like Christina Alguilera, Real R&B! my brother and I saw them live, when we were in our early teens.
Also,DO NOT buy vinyl singles from anybody JUST so they can press a "gray" CD
of "Don't Stop The Carnival". They are borderline bootleggers! (If you MUST have
the actual vinyl record, that's another matter.)
EMI currently owns the rights to Laurie Records masters. NOBODY has ever re-issued The Sound Investment recordings on CD or download.

I demand to know why in the hell their main song, "Don't Stop The Carnival", was
removed.
That song is UNAVAILABLE anywhere except for a couple of VINYL copies, and therefore is considered Fair Use.
I am a former Houstonian who was a teenager in the Sixties, and have memories
of hearing that song on KNUZ (or maybe even KFMK,KRBE) or something.
Thought that "Don't Stop The Carnival" had an organ part similar to Jackie Wilson's "I'll Be Satisfied"? LOL!

@Fini2010 Hey, who was your guitar teacher. We also bought matching Kustom 200 amps, but I can't remember where.

What ever happened to Ray Salazar?
Did The Sound Investment kick him out?
Did The Sound Investment ever have any more hits without him?
I saw them at Foleys on the 9th floor, Town Hall and at the rinky dink in houston texas...late sixties.

Ray actually ended up committing suicide.
The group continued on with my stepdad Ron Coleman.
I do believe they had another hit- When I See You Go By
