I want to join the RMC but I'm costrophobic and I'm being deadly serious here, I would stop breathing in those tunnels, I'm very costrophobic I take the stairs to the top of a 15 story building than a lift. Would this affect me, leading to me failed the selection course??
@19ashton94 you do the edurance test on day two of the prmc now instead of gym test two then if you pass you'll probably start having to practice it around week 26 of training i think.
This is nothing compared to mine! I got home yesterday. there is alot more training after the tunnnels and you piggy back a man up a massive hill twice. and you cannot stand still, alot of crawling! but we didnt do as much in the gym as the last part. I loved it. passed with an A grade! buzzing!!
in my POC (potensial officers course) we had to go under water in peters pool for 5 seconds. was so fucking cold. still it was one of the best experiences of my life :)
ive been and dine the look at life course at the CTC , real good eye opener if your thinking about a carear in the Royal Marines , if your thinking of doing a college course before hand i recoment the uniformed public services course , keeps your fitness and awareness up ! just wating now till i can go in myself !
alright lads ive just completed royal marines training its hard but just stick in and you'll pass, the waiting time depends entirely on how quickly you want to join the whole process from completing the application form, to the PRMC and finally basic training was realitivly quick for me probably 3-4 months.
big respect to you mate. im hoping to join. i went for the army and got to selection but the shit i saw there...how are the recruits? are they grunts like the army or what?
alright mate! am 16 now but i wanna do it after college at 18. was hopin to do the look at life course at 17 though. could you give us some info on how you went about it and the time scale? cheers mate! Respect on passing out aswell!
im 15 and am going to join the royal marines i went on the website and it says you have to be between 15 9months and 33 so if i join at 15 9i months does that mean i do the prmc straight away or do i have to go to a college or something as i would not be 16 please reply any information would be gratefull. :)
am same age as u i went careers office other day n they give u a form to send off when u do that they give you a date to go to liverpool when you have finished school and are 16 then u go liverpool to do excersises n a bleep test then they give you a date for your prmc
wha happens is cause it takes so long for the whole process to take place by the time you start ur training ull be 17 and you can join n serve but you wont do active duty(tours of duty) till your 18
@CaptinCam0 I don't think they change it much if at all over the years tho be honest, but there is stuff that you don't seem to find out on here :/ thanks for the reply though
@dannyuknewcastle best of luck mate! I've got my second medical coming up soon, had to lose a few extra pounds lol... Looking at all this though, I can't wait to get stuck in!
@mrshredstarZ I did mate and passed lol. cant believe it was years ago haha. Left the corps tho coz of family reasons. Might get back in in a few years.
@mrshredstarZ thats what i thought mate and nailed it. just be determined and youl pass. they look for alot of determination, you dont have to be the fittest, but if you never give up and keep going then they will like the look of u
@mrshredstarZ nope ur right. even just after a few weeks they will smash that attitude into u. even now when im running myself lol i dont stop until iv finished what i set out to do. it will be the same for you mate, even now ith training dont give up and with the determination test on PRMC you will fly through it with the right set mind
@mebecallum Yeah I passed. Made it to training and had to drop out after a couple of months coz of family reasons, planning on going back in the near future though.
@dannyuknewcastle would you have any advice to a 14 year old marine wanna-be then? I'm doing some running and finding it so difficult that it's embarrising, and some marines only take the piss so i was wonderin if you could help a little?
Hi Partner, As I write this is on the train on the way back from PRMC'S when I've spoken to him he says how hard its been!! He has passed though so will be off to training soon...So proud of him but totally petrified of what he is getting himself into. RIP to those Marines killed this week...forever in our hearts xxx
im 16 and just got given my written test, hope to be doing all this in the next couple of months, big thing ive wanted 2 do for years and i aint going to give up at any point
frog766 - id probably say if youre fit already, then work on musclues and upper body strength, then try a few obstacles (over walls, crawling under tunnels etc).
Unless you can crack level 16 on a bleep test-do 100 press ups in a oner and 16 pull ups, then you can improve!I reccommend 300 spartan workout for awesome upper body strength and good cardio.
Train your runs @10k & fartlek. For weights I would practice pulling an upturned horse or weights on a mat with a long rope- whilst lying face down on bench-this will simulate bottom field rope(or versaclimber)
Don't train with weight-after you pass go to the hills with a bergen of say 50 lbs.
i am 15 and have started training i hope to be sponsored through university and join as an officer when i am 18i am not worried about the physical side as i will be training hard for 3 years it is the academic and mental side i have good willpower and i think my academic abilities will be sufficient but i can only hope and train my god damn hardest
Good to hear your going to join! Just in case you don't know, being an officer is about twice as hard! it's 15 months training, your expected to run the same distance in a shorter time and at the end of the day you have to do admin work unlike the normal RMC's. Also if you can, get a degree, you will enter the RMC's at about 22 and you will earn twice the starting salary of a normal RMC. Hope this helps.
yeah royal marine officer training is a lympstone, sandhurst is just for the army, i think they train the officers near the men so that they have closer bonds with the men
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I went on the POV. Loved it. However, the only thing putting me off joining is the idea of killing people which is what it's all geared towards. Caaradery and physical challenge is awsome though.
dont worry about killin people because u will finally realise its either the person that wants to kill u goes home or u go home plus ur adrenaling and training will kick in so u might find it more fun and exciting, sounds sick now but look back at what they did to us
@BassettAlmighty Well its not you idiot, the adrenaline kicks in during the stress of fear, meaning that it can get exciting because your starring death in the face quite literally. People can get addicted to the battlefield, theres no other rush in this world like getting shot, people have actually stated that its 'better than crack' so for you to say its a 'mong statement' your being the mong if i'm honest, you need to realise that people do this job because theres an element of enjoyment.
to be honest as long as you train hard before and really want it you'l be fine. just dont quit. there were 3 16 year olds at our prmc i think. start training march 10th
Yes you are allowed however from speaking to a royal marine at the AFCO you may have to wait upto 6 months. By the way, if offered they allow to to become involved in a 'taster' day a week before the PRMC to see if you are physically fit and apparently they force you to do a bit more than required on the actual day.
im 14 and my dads in the marines adn ive done the endurance course be4 , it absolutely nackers you, peters pool is absolutely freezing and the bogs u have to get thorugh are honking .... hopin to be and officer sooooon !!!
Mickey, my sons down there at the moment. Just recovering from a broken metatarsal ( no he's not a footballer lol )going back into week 15 after summer leave. If your not really fit all ready, I'd put off going and do some more training at home first, running sit ups, push ups etc. If not it could lead to disappointment. All the best duds

To all the people saying if you've had asthma you won't get in, that is a mistake. Go to the RM website and you will find that aslong as you have been asthma free for four years you can join.
Sorry mate, i'll say negative. i'm an ex-para and they are no way gonna take on an asthma sufferer. you could lie but you will probably get found out early.
it depends on the medical history. Im applying for the army and I suffered from light asthma as a child and it hasnt bothered me for years. My doctor confirmed that my last treatment was around 10 years ago and they were fine about it. They told me as long as I hadnt suffered from it over the last four years it would be fine, but thats the army. Go down to the Navy Careers and ask one of them about it.
the staff are respectful of recruits. the Royal Marine policy is to respect to all men. that's why officers and recruits train together. unlike the army where there is segregation.
They should do this kinda thing at school. Maybe not as extreme but the fat fuckers we have at my school it would be good, might have to widen the tunnels mind. I also plan to do this kinda thing and i same age,.
there is a PRMC every 2 weeks mate (usually tuesday to friday) and the paper tests - known as the psychometric tests - are not easy but their not really hard either if you have basic maths and english. the paper tests r in about 5 sections with about 8mins each
I want to join the RMC but I'm costrophobic and I'm being deadly serious here, I would stop breathing in those tunnels, I'm very costrophobic I take the stairs to the top of a 15 story building than a lift. Would this affect me, leading to me failed the selection course??

They told me as long as I hadnt suffered from it over the last four years it would be fine, but thats the army. Go down to the Navy Careers and ask one of them about it.

wow thats tough lol kudos to those who passed! the DI's seem reallllly nice compared to us marine DI's

the staff are respectful of recruits. the Royal Marine policy is to respect to all men. that's why officers and recruits train together. unlike the army where there is segregation.

They should do this kinda thing at school. Maybe not as extreme but the fat fuckers we have at my school it would be good, might have to widen the tunnels mind. I also plan to do this kinda thing and i same age,.

how often do they do the prmc and what are the paper tests like
mike539 5 years ago
Find out from your local carriers office, they do it all year around. If you go in for the presentation they will answer all your questions

there is a PRMC every 2 weeks mate (usually tuesday to friday) and the paper tests - known as the psychometric tests - are not easy but their not really hard either if you have basic maths and english. the paper tests r in about 5 sections with about 8mins each
