I love Puerto Rican style rice! But who are these white peopel asking all the dumb questions and pronouncing everything wrong? And did that lady really just suggest putting hot dogs in it?! ugghghg, wtf.
bitch i should fuck you up for fucking up the rice....warning white people pls dont try this at home, this wak as dude doesnt know how to do rice.......gummy as riceeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
@famaelkabernicola81 thats pretty ignorant, befor u decide on what white people should be doing know that im white and make arroz con gandules all the time and i DO know what im doin..pfft typical judgin white people cookin off ONE video some douch made. fuck outta here
Wow...that is alot of rice for that size pot...its going to grow and overflow...and then...it will be gummy and pasty...not good..it needs more room to grow...
So why do we wash the rice anyway. I'm told were just washing out the vitamins which would make at least white rice worthless eating? I know that making it without washing it would suck though, I've tried it. Wish there was a was to make it without washing out the vitamins. Anyway, I love the way he says SOFRITO, Sazon, etc. LOL! I have to say, I've never quite seen PR done this way either. I don't think I could ever do this on an electric stove either.
Then you cook it at low heat for an additional 15 to 20 min. You can add ham like he said or pork but you have to cook that first and then add the sofrito and other ingredients.. At least that's the way I do it.
IzaakNlana: Personally I think Jose overflipped the rice. When you add the water at the end , you stir it to mix the rice and ingredients together, then you let it simmer at medium low heat, until almost all the water is soaked in the rice, then you flip it from the bottom up all around, you cover it , wait like 10 minutes, then you take a fork and sort of "stir" the rice but picking at it from bottom up all over to sort of loosen the rice.
Hey! Im just wondering if you are supposed to flip the rice with all types of rice & beans..My husband is puerto rican and I am italian so it took a VERY long time for me to become a pro at cooking the rice & beans but, I was never taught to flip it..I was always told to not touch it after you put the water in or it becomes very mushy..Is it possible to ask jose about this for me?? If so please let me know..Thanks so much!! That food looks great!!
Ive heard both. Im P.R. and my grandma flips hers ver 15 min. but my mom doesnt touch it until its done. I flip mines in the begining, and flip it towards the end when the water has boiled out. But i wouldnt flip it too much
i think the rice maybe over mixed!
