  • if you are going to make rice&beans you suppose to use GOYA RICE not Stop n Shop store brand rice, the rice you use makes a difference.

  • @deborahreal lmao!!

  • Wow...that is alot of rice for that size pot...its going to grow and overflow...and then...it will be gummy and pasty...not good..it needs more room to grow...

  • no cleaning of the rice...

  • I don't know about electric bro gas is way better.

i would eat it any way.

  • So why do we wash the rice anyway. I'm told were just washing out the vitamins which would make at least white rice worthless eating? I know that making it without washing it would suck though, I've tried it. Wish there was a was to make it without washing out the vitamins. Anyway, I love the way he says SOFRITO, Sazon, etc. LOL! I have to say, I've never quite seen PR done this way either. I don't think I could ever do this on an electric stove either.

  • we wash away the strach from the rice .

  • sdfsdf

  • that rice look mushy as hell

  • he did`nt wash the rice! why? all p.r. wash there rice!

  • I know, right!!! I would NEVER cook rice without washing it first! And I would NEVER use store bought Sofrito. Lol.

  • @AnianoJR i guess you didn't notice the Stop n Shop rice lol

  • Then you cook it at low heat for an additional 15 to 20 min. You can add ham like he said or pork but you have to cook that first and then add the sofrito and other ingredients.. At least that's the way I do it.

  • IzaakNlana: Personally I think Jose overflipped the rice. When you add the water at the end , you stir it to mix the rice and ingredients together, then you let it simmer at medium low heat, until almost all the water is soaked in the rice, then you flip it from the bottom up all around, you cover it , wait like 10 minutes, then you take a fork and sort of "stir" the rice but picking at it from bottom up all over to sort of loosen the rice.

  • good job .. but mines would be way better :)

  • Hey! Im just wondering if you are supposed to flip the rice with all types of rice & beans..My husband is puerto rican and I am italian so it took a VERY long time for me to become a pro at cooking the rice & beans but, I was never taught to flip it..I was always told to not touch it after you put the water in or it becomes very mushy..Is it possible to ask jose about this for me?? If so please let me know..Thanks so much!! That food looks great!!

  • Ive heard both. Im P.R. and my grandma flips hers ver 15 min. but my mom doesnt touch it until its done. I flip mines in the begining, and flip it towards the end when the water has boiled out. But i wouldnt flip it too much

  • That Puerto rican Pork looks delicious too!
