  • Wow,...enjoyed watching your conversion of the A2. So now its done how much do you get out of a full charge? Really well done!!!

  • Nice audio track choice! I don't think YouTube will pull it since there's a link to both Amazon and iTunes to purchase the music... Here's Elizabeth Tjader's YouTube channel... Maybe you could get written permission to use the track: youtube (dot) com/ user / eatjader.

  • btw, you could attach a plastic sheet under the car for aerodynamics. the underside is actually very important and I think the 3L versions of A2 have that.

  • @DanFrederiksen there is a plastic underbelly and various kinds of trim that cover up the underside.

  • any reason to have the motor that high? wouldn't it be better if the half shafts were more level?

and what do you do for a living/education since you so fearlessly attacked the car wiring?

  • @DanFrederiksen Shafts and motor are just right when the car is on its wheels, the half shaft angle is exactly like any normal A2. Car wiring: well, the car side is just 12V DC so it is very simple (the negative side is almost all connected to the common earth, which in the A2 is in fact not often the chassis). As for the 300V side, just consider it is like your house - if you are happy to re-wire a room (following instructions) then you could do this.

  • @DanFrederiksen What do I do for a living? Not this... OK I fixed cars for a hobby and am pretty DIY oriented, but just gleaned all of the "how to" off the internet.

  • Last video on Nov 23, 2009; I hope all is well?

  • You ruined what would have been a very interesting series by adding that silly music.

I will not be watching the rest.

    *RATED ZERO*

  • @urbex2007 what a pity... try turning the volume down? No accounting for taste, is there ;-)

  • Nice job>>>to bad the car manufacturers still haven't done these yet in large quantities>Thanks for sharing

  • Great conversion! I am very interested in the design of the battery placement in your A2. Do you have any more info or a status on it?

  • 98 cells, 55 go under the space left by petrol tank and silencer, in two stainless steel boxes I have made up. Bolt up underneath. The other 43 go in a stainless steel box placed up front between the two arms that the engine mount is on, you can see the box in some of the videos. Just arranging the final configuration now, maybe done in a couple of weeks. Check out my Google Group AudiA2EV for more details.

  • Great info thanks! Can't wait to see future video's and pictures. I hope to convert an A2 in the future as well. I think it's the best conversion vehicle around.

  • Ik lees ook dat U een beetje Nederlands begrijpt. How cool is that!

  • First of congrats on the conversion. I have some questions.

What happened to the onboard computer, traction system and abs system?

  • First of all - thnx.

onboard computer - no offboard. Traction system - well, it is a completely different drive system, and the Azure Dynamics controller has no traction control. ABS: seems to work, but it is missing the movement sensor (EPS or something). When I hit the brakes hard on gravel, ABS does work.

  • The music ruins the video.

What do you do if you're out and the battery goes flat?

You would be better buying a diesel car to save money.

  • @urbex2007 er... that's the point of the music??? You think I like that kind of "jazz" :-))

What do you do if you are out in your car and you run out of diesel? I mean, completely empty? Did you do that? And who said I was trying to save money?

  • how much cost a full recharge of the batteries?

  • battery pack is 16kWh. Was costing around 3euro here in Italy, but since I have panels it actually makes me money (well... that's a long discussion, look into the economics of PV subsidies and you might see what I mean).

  • Dont know about diesels being cheaper ubrex, they would cost the same to convert to electric. 8^)

  • How do you charge?

  • Well, when I get my new charger... from a 16amp normal EU household socket, overnight.

  • Can you tell us something about

    approximate range limit,

the V-Max and the distributer of the parts and their costs.

    Thanks in advance.

  • @BhdRoussos short answer 100km, 105km/h, Azure Dynamics for motor and controller, Hi Power for batteries, check out my Google groups AudiA2Ev for full details.

  • Its the use of the marimba that does it for me !

  • soulfull !
