dude, Chief justice Roberts made an obvious mistake, not Obama. He put "faithfully" in the wrong place and Obama waited for Roberts to correct himself.

The President did not wait until the Chief Justice had finished, notwithstanding, after listening to past oaths, in NONE of them the Justice says "so help YOU God", in all of they've said "so help ME God". After all, at the very beginning the Justices say "I X do solemnly swear..." not "YOU X solemnly swear...", there the Chief Justice messed up. However Obama recited correctly saying "so help ME God". Could it had been done on purpose, to make the President look bad from the very beginning?

The justice should have read it from a piece of paper if he couldn't remember it correctly! President Obama realized the justice had the words wrong when the justice said "I will execute the office of the presidncy faithfully" instead of "I will faithfully execute the office of the presidency'. Obama paused and waited for him to correct it and then proceeded apparently not wanting to make an issue out of it. The justice should write it down and read it word for word so he gets it right.

At first I thought it was Chief Roberts who made the first gaffe, but it was President Obama. I've watched about 6 of these now, and Roberts was right at first, it's "I (name) do solumnley swear", then the President recites it, after that confusion it all goes downhill until they both screw up.

Crowbar... You are correct! Besides that, Obama should have waited for an actual pause before replying. It's a pressure-filled moment either way and unfortunate that it happened even though I am not a fan of Socialism. His speech "sounded" good but it was essentially as all his others and that would be talking in platitudes. If he takes the teeth out of our tools to battle terrorism then the comments about how we will outlast the terrorists etc. then it is empty rhetoric.

Obama stumbled first when he started saying his name over Roberts before Roberts finished speaking the first complete line for Obama to repeat. Then from there it threw off Roberts who bobbled the next part which then left Obama perplexed; Ultimately leaving most parts of the oath flubbed up but it's still official... Actually, the chief justice is supposed to pause after the president recites his name, and than he pauses, but than interrupts him before he can finish. Watch other inaugurations.

I have seen oaths done both ways... Most done the way Roberts was doing it and there are videos out there that verify this. Obama jumped the gun but that has always his style when he gets questioned or is prompted to respond.

I will say this for Prs. Obama though, unlike Chief Justice Roberts, Obama seems to have actually read the oath. If he was as clueless as Chief Justice Roberts about the oath, Obama would have just repeated the mistakes without getting flustered.

That's true. I voted No on Prop 8 in California. Eventually, (hopefully very soon), Americans will wake up on that issue as well. I believe in equality for ALL. (Separation of church and state!) May today be the beginning of equality for all.
