It's physically impossible for a cats eyes to make out pictures on a TV, their eyes arn't built like ours. It can see the light that the TV omits and that's what the cat is interacting with. Cats do that stand up swatting thing all the time. If it was on another station he'd do the same thing

I Guess you could say I'm a cat expert and yes, cats see in a different spectrum then humans do. Cats are able to see a small percentage of images on a TV, for example, dogs will bark at other dogs on the TV {Stupid Dogs...}, Cats and dogs DO see the same spectrum btw, cats just aren't that noisy. Overall, it is very unlikely that a cat will interact with things on the TV but its so adorable that it might as well be, Go Kitty! :)
