Dieses Konzert wurde bisher leider sehr vernachlässigt- nur wenige Pianisten unterziehen sich der Mühe, dies einzustudieren- Vielleicht muss der Laie 5 mal das Gesamte Werk hören aber dann könnte es auch ihn packen. Für mich steht es auf dem gleichen Niveau wie die Rachmaninow Konzerte-
This has got to be one of the most thankless piano concerti ever written. It is so much harder than it sounds! If you have the opportunity, take a look at the piano part. Gigantic chordal masses, serpentine part writing, cross-rhythms, hand-contorting harmony changes. Add to that the fact that you have to have tremendous stamina and power to project the sound over the thick orchestral accompaniment. Yet it's beautiful if you give Reger a chance. His music is tough on first hearing.
