  • We can choose to live in the past, or we can choose to live in the present and look toward the future. I prefer doing the latter, and I also prefer NOT being the only state in the union without a state song.

  • I like all the effort and it's well written. That said, it's a waste of time.

I, like many, say if we can't have Carry Me Back to Ol Virginny then let us have no song atall.

  • Hi Carol, it's a very nice song and you are to be commended for it. I am partial to Carry Me Back to ol Virginny, which is still the best song I've heard. One suggestion in your lyrics. You state that Virginia is "democracy's cradle" and to some extent this is true, but to be clear, Virginia like the rest of the country rejected the establishment of a pure democracy and instituted a Representative Republic instead. The words strike me as a bit too PC, but as I said it is a very nice song.

  • "Carry Me Back" is the Virginia state song emeritus. Virginia does not currently have a state song, which is why I composed "Virginia, Ever Enshrined." I would like for it someday to be selected as the new state song.

  • Wow! what a beautiful song. I also wrote a song about Virginia. It is called, "I Love Virginia, but Virginia don't love me." It is a funny song about my first bear encounter. It is on YouTube. I certainly have to do a more serious song because I am in love with Virginia. I have been there three times. I am planning to move there in a year or two. Your song is very touching and I like how you acknowledge the rich history and natural beauty that Virginia has. Great song!

  • This isn't the state song of Virginia, the Virginia State Song is Carry Me Back To Old Virginny.

  • I really like it!

  • My Heart Will Always Be In Virginia Forever!! I attended Oak Hill Academy In Mouth Of Wilson,Va from 1999-2002 where I graduated in 02! Also My Dad Lives There in Fairfax County!

    I will never Forget Virginia!!

I Went back for my 6 Year Reunion this year in May and when it was time to leave I was all in tears I did not want to leave!

I am now a true Virginian at heart! Now and Forever!
