KEF-s: too much sensivity. Has too much directivity and unnaturally REAL sound. A engineers WET dream with a really flat response.
Mordaunts: a bit damped, but neutral speakers. A bit shallow vocals, but that is down to the recording.
I, personally, would go with the mordaunts. warmer sound and somewhat damped, you can listen to them for a longer period. KEF-s will make your ears hurt with all that sensitivity.
This test is biased. The combination of voice and acoustic guitar will not expose the small speaker's lack of deep bass or dynamic abilities. The big KEFs were just cruising here. Try some more challenging material (e.g. big drums, double bass, piano or organ) and the truth will come out. If you only have 500 quid to spend on speakers and listen to lots of rock or orchestral classics, you will NOT be happy with the small speakers.
@10Countto i know its an old comment but i have a pair of these along side the bigger brother mezzo 8's but i when i played led zeplin through them the noise was breath taking honestly these speakers are truly brilliant.
"Perfect" is the ultimate thing for that individual who sees it to be "perfect" for him/her. I think perfect can vary. You are implying to them saying perfect loudspeaker and obviously think that "perfect" is better than any other loudspeaker, nothing can't beat "perfect".
Still... I hate when companies say they are the "best"... I mean, look at Bose... They pretty much say they are the best, but everyone knows they are actually one of the worst.
A lot of these "high end" speakers are mostly high priced because of looks... Not always for audio quality. B&O stuff is very expensive, but not usually the best quality.
You usually pay more for pretty speakers, than the quality of them.
You think it'd be a stupid waste to buy these for rear surrounds instead of using the Mezzo 1's ? I already have the Mezzo 6 on order and just wondering if I'd be best with the best lol
Just been to test the Mezzo 2s and bought a pair there and then! The dealer only had one pair left. Said he's sold ten this week alone! They are the most amazing stand-mount speaker I have ever heard! Can't wait to run 'em in!!

I have the mezzo 6 floor standers. Crazy me for thinking of upgrading them so soon for the mezzo 8 and placing the 6's for rear surrounds.
I'm sure I'd be just as happy with mezzo 2's all round but the mezzo 8's look too awesome to ignore.
Another fault is I've still only got a dinky little Cambridge Azure AV unit powering my mezzo 6's :'(
AV units are improving at such a rate, I plan for it to be the last thing I upgrade.

I love how they say the "Perfect Loudspeaker"... There is no such thing as a perfect loudspeaker. Impossible.

But, to each their own, right?
