I'm not gonna lie to ya but in here in Ireland teens is good weather and we're very lucky if it's twenties I'm often in weather worse :P Ireland is crazy weather wise 1 second it's calm or warm next it's cold and rainy or gale force winds and rain yeah anyways enjoy riding your nice bike ... what bike is it anyways ?
@rickyd8 batteries naturally lose charge over time, especially if you leave them sitting on concrete. ive seen a brand new battery sit on concrete for just a few weeks and it wouldnt hold a charge anymore. also overcharging a battery will destroy its life time, so i wouldnt constantly keep it on a charger, store it properly and charge it a few days before you ride.
all u got to do is drain the tank no headaches and for tires get a jack and lift the bike off its tires and ur done. also change ur motor oil and fuel filter.
hey i just got my first bike few weeks ago and winter is coming up my plan is just to start the bike up every few days for a 5 10 mins and roll it around for a few mins cause i dont wanna actually store the bike
if you leave tires inflated move the bike around every now and then so they don't get flat spots on them cause it can happen, i prefer to put my battery inside during the cold months cause it makes them last longer, most people i talk to that leave it on a charger have to replace it more
Another note.. If you're in an area where you could experience rodent issues, plug up the holes with some rags (air intake, exhaust) so they don't build nests. I also spray some powdered cayenne pepper all over the hoses and wiring (and hose that off in the spring), as mice, rats and chipmunks (to name some) can gnaw through the wires, brake lines etc etc etc.
-Stabiliser and tender are definitely good ideas.
-If you're storing a bike for over a month, it's a good idea to put it up on stands so the tires don't develop a flat spot.
-When lubing the chain, it's a good idea to overdo it, just to make sure all of the surfaces are covered. No fling issues while it's standing.
-Some people also do an oil change (put in crappy dino oil in the winter, not use it, put in synthetic in the spring) but that's because in Canada, bikes get left for 3-4-5 months.
Dude I have a 07 Candy Plasma Blue 650R I live down in texas so we pretty much dont have to do any off this it was 70 degrees here today i rode mine all day lol but why would you deflate the tires that seems like they would dry rot really fast if you start it every couple of days and let it run it will be fine just for you own knowledge lol aswell as the battery you dont need to charge it if you start it and let it run
Perfect. The bike started right up and runs great. I'm having a blast. I didn't keep the cover on too much. I had to go out and look at it and shine it up. It was winterized for about 5 or 6 weeks total.

@rickyd8 allowing your battery to sit will shorten its life.

Don't be lazy. You will do more harm to the bike than good. Bikes aren't meant to be started just to run 5 to 10 mins. Winterize it!
