@vupadown this is a very good tablet especially for the price. once u connect to the internet it will let u know an updatr is available (the update will make the tablet faster and the flash plugin in the browser more powerful. However the viewing angles are limited but the kick stand helps) and the ram is low (so u will have to close apps that u are not using quite often to free up the ram space). 1 good thing is The limited viewing angles helps with providing screen privacy in public places.
Im so glad that flash plays smooth after froyo wa updated. Every about the tablet is fine. The only thing that take some getting use to are the viewing angles. In landscape its easy to adjust but in portrait IT is a bit difficult. However for the price of $259 at microcenter or compusa itsa deal. Im happy so far. And it has no lag after the update. And the flash in the browser works really well. Im glad i bought one
People don't buy this. It was a good deal a year ago now there's better stuff in the market that's cheaper. Hell Archos 101 G9 is coming in a few weeks and it will be better then this.

I have an archos 43, same generation so I'll answer what I can. Yes, you can listen to music while doing other stuff, Android accepts multitasking. Yes, Flash works now, just make sure your firmware is up to date and download the Flash app.
As to webcam use, it can, Skype has an official app that is supposed to do it, but I never used it. I don't think there's an official msn app, but ebuddy is supposed to be able to do it (never tried it either).

This is the worst tablet of them all. I got this because it doessome things ipad cannot do but it is so frustrating when you scroll a page, so slow and the accelerometer is slower than the orbit of jupiter! Too bad! I tryed the the smmer version #5 and the full charge is 62% and hte touch was readly bad. @pikabko1 Archos 5 is 2+ years older than this and uses resistive screen among other thing. The 101 uses a multitouch capacitive screen. Completely different devices on all specs and hard to compare.

@TheGodshelper You can watch movies from the internal memory, but I don't think it supports hard disks. When you connect it to a PC it behaves like an external harddrive and you can copy your movies on it.
@FPRobber actually it can.. thats why its so good.. it has an internal usb host. so you can use any flash drive or hard disks, see and use whats inside it and even copy them to you sd or internal memory.. :)

They run a pretty standard release of Android, with little customization (it's a budget brand after all). I would keep an eye on XDA developers (search for it on google). I've seen the specs of this thing, and there is alot of headroom for improvements, and w/o a doubt, 2.3 and perhaps 3.0 will be ported/created by the community (or even Archos).

Today, Archos updated their tablets to Android 2.2 Floyo and there is no mention of Adobe Flash support. I feel like I'm going to be disappointed and end up paying for that flash support.
@bittertruthnavin first add one of apshares from the archos aps store then type in market and add one of the market copying aps (serveral work) once you have done this and found the one that works add the latest Dolphin hd browser then download flash from the market copy. hey presto flash installed and working.

android 2.2 is getting full flash. it was said at the google android developers conference that it will have full flash support that means from youtube videos in the browser to zynga games on facebook. it will run them all! love android and want a 10 inch tablet but havent seen a good smooth one yet so i can wait! and the galaxy tab is a joke. its not even smooth and the price is just not real.
The reason it's so cheap is that archos have spent no money to make the device a pleasent thing to hold in your hands. The device is probably very likely to break, which is why you spend more money on a more premium android product such as the Galaxy Tab which apart from being blazingly quick, is more reasonably sized at 7''.
And apart from the fact that every other touchscreen now is capacitive and unless your hands are huge, it will be a pain landscape typing with two hands because it's HUGE.

Today, Archos updated their tablets to Android 2.2 Floyo and there is no mention of Adobe Flash support. I feel like I'm going to be disappointed and end up paying for that flash support.

@bittertruthnavin first add one of apshares from the archos aps store then type in market and add one of the market copying aps (serveral work) once you have done this and found the one that works add the latest Dolphin hd browser then download flash from the market copy. hey presto flash installed and working.

android 2.2 is getting full flash. it was said at the google android developers conference that it will have full flash support that means from youtube videos in the browser to zynga games on facebook. it will run them all! love android and want a 10 inch tablet but havent seen a good smooth one yet so i can wait! and the galaxy tab is a joke. its not even smooth and the price is just not real.

The reason it's so cheap is that archos have spent no money to make the device a pleasent thing to hold in your hands. The device is probably very likely to break, which is why you spend more money on a more premium android product such as the Galaxy Tab which apart from being blazingly quick, is more reasonably sized at 7''.
And apart from the fact that every other touchscreen now is capacitive and unless your hands are huge, it will be a pain landscape typing with two hands because it's HUGE.

1) set the trend

@GBigb0ss hell yeas?! you can buy the officesuit app which lets you view and edit ms office docos, DOWNLOAD them straight from the archos' browser?! (lets see the iphone/touch/ipad do that!) you can extract zip files, you can also download and view pdfs and rtf's!

@Llyranon the online sellers here in Oz have it dated as preorder, due late december, however, it already came out in europe, and i phoned the local specialist electronic store, checking if they had it in stock, turns out theyre prolly expecting a shipment next week of gen 8 archos tablet products, including the 70 tab. check archos website, set your locale to Canada, from there click where to purchase to see which local stores are preordering...
