This show is like any other ghost show, but the main distinguishing difference between this show and others is that this show doesn't actually make an effort to look fake, that would be, as you say, bad acting. Watch Yvette Fielding for example on Most Haunted (now no longer running), she faked pretty much every single 'ghostly encounter' her and her crew ever had.

When I started to watch Ghost adventures, I got to a point when I started to saw things and imagine things because I was just so into it. Then I decided to stop watching GA for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks things were back to normal and it still are. These guys really encourage me not to be scared of ghosts. They're freaking awesome!
