  • Love it! Awesome beat, harmonica, riff, drums, vocals, etc. Can anyone post the lyrics? I can't understand Mick in the second half of the song.

  • ahahaha the Stones are singing about freakin' rice krispies and they still rock. Mick can sing about anything and make it cool.

  • never liked the rolling stones ..and I still don't

  • @spellgrounds Would you feel differently about this if I told you that it took them 11 takes to record the commercial and Keith broke 11 strings in the process and there were 11 groupies in the studio?

  • A crackle in your FACE!!!

  • I wonder if the Stones could've done a similar commercial to this in the 1980s?

  • Love it, rockin hard for a bowl of them rice krispies

  • I'm so going to ask them to play this if I see them in concert

  • The Who did the same thing.

  • snap, crackle, SNIFF.

  • That was too F-ing cool!!

  • The hell? No English person better ever tell me the U.S. is overcommercialized again.

  • Too funny! Thanks for the post!! Surprised this isn't on their 40 Licks albumn!!

  • wow, I never heard this. This was when pop stars did commercials.

  • Thanks for posting that. I was beginning to think that I had dreamed that the Stones had done an advert for Rice Crispies - nobody else I know seems to remember it.

  • that's some fun jingle! =)

anyways, everything the stones did in the '60s is pure gold!

  • Everything for 400 pounds haha

  • @mckrd0 400 lbs was a lot of money back then...especially for about 30 or so seconds of work lol

  • @platter1000 Probably took them a day or so and yes, the average pay was drastically lower back then, indeed

  • super

  • It would be awesome if they brought this back for a new commercial. But nowadays the Rolling Stones would probably want a huge royalty check making it not worth it.

  • oh back when they were desperate for money lol

  • I don't think I've ever even HEARD of this commercial... Those crazy Rolling Stones. If they aren't singing about pre-frozen steaks, they're singing about breakfast cereal!

  • Their best song.

  • everybody knows Joy Flakes and Brown Sugar every day keeps the doctor away !! LOL thank u for posting . bises de Paris

  • They should have done a ad for Mars bars years later to take advantage of the Marianne Faithfull incident (longtime Stones fans will get the reference).

  • @elc1960 I do!!

  • @elc1960 I get the reference! (ha-ha)

  • POP ART!!!

  • Comment removed

  • now I feel like sprinkling cocaine all over my rice krispies... or a lil brown sugar whoo!

  • the good song

  • loooooooooooool

  • ah them were the days,

  • Does anybody know what ads Cream and the Yardbirds did?

  • @cozener1 How do you knnow they did any?

  • Fucking sellouts

  • Check out maa band :)

  • There were actually two of these adverts featuring The Stones. Believe it or not, I have an old VHS actually made at JWT with copies of both ads and the original script!

  • Correction, Manfreds did 54321, which was used for a vile choc-covered crispy bar ad.

  • uh huh its the Manfreds!

  • Brian really wailing on harmonica on this one, i like keef's funky guitar too.

  • The Yardbirds and Cream also did commercials like these.

  • I love the guy with the headphones!

  • You know whats weird, I was eating Rice Krispies and thought "I wonder what they're made of". So I went to wikipedia and found out The Rolling Stones sand this song, I never knew that LOL!

  • um they are made of rice...

  • LMAO! Who knew?

  • i love this very cool rockin with rice crispeis makes me wonder what keith ws putting in his rice crispies....lol

  • that makes me seriousy frustrated that is so annoying

  • Haha! That's priceless!

  • lol

  • Talk about pop music. Im gonna go pour me a bowl of snap, crackle and pop.

  • I like Hienz Baked Beans and Ordono and Medac :) get the refrences WHOlagins

  • this isnt the first bizarre thing they've done - just like when mick jagger pretended to be paul mccartney or something on 'The Rutles'. its brilliant - it shows a playful side to them.

  • lol that's awesome

  • For me it's not a sell out, because it's a cool song about Rice Krispies. If they sang about Rice Krispies to the tune of, say "Under My Thumb", that would be a sellout.

  • They make selling out cool.

  • cool !! Too bad more commercials didn't rock like this one, the song I mean, lol .

  • I read that it is a song written by Brian Jones

  • yeah, this was immediately preceding those "creative differences"...

Mick wanted to do Sticky Fingers and Brian wanted to do Frosted Flakes.

  • love em so much not even funny. long live the king KEITH RICHARDS!!!!!!!

  • according to keef rice crispies refer to cristaline colombian sherbet

  • OMG AWESOME!

  • win

  • I love this song....

  • wooo rolling stones.

  • "........riiiice krispiesss!"

  • Hahaha that's awesome.

  • So cool!!!

  • We sure could use an advert like this today, where we have wimpy synthesizer versions of Beatles songs selling us merchandise.

  • Awesome riffs and harmonica!

  • the only song brian jones ever got writing credit for

  • I didn"t know the rolling stones made a song about rice krispies

  • Whoa........when was this from? I never knew the Stones ever did commercials like this!

  • is this the Pure (Welcome To) Jungle?

  • route 66

  • best cereal commercial

  • The bad boys of rock and roll doing something like that???

  • They bad: They do what they want mutherfucker...

  • How much do I love this? LOTS!!

  • NICE!

  • i like "SNAP CRACKLE POP makes the world go round" better

  • Brian rocks. Cheers.

  • WOW! I'm blown away!

  • i keep seeing comments about keith's guitar work and i agree that it's pretty tasty but also listen for brian jones harmonica...you can hear the r&b influence that made all of their early ('64 and '65 pre-satisfaction) records so great.

  • huy los rockeros malosos en un komercial kasi infantil k rarooooooo

  • so cool - they were a little shy about this for a long time. The BBC will not play it

  • Greatest cereal commercial ever.

  • wake up in the morning there's a crackle in your face

  • I first saw this one on another Web site and couldn't believe it--the lost Rice Krispies Stones commercial! Definitely the coolest cereal ad ever made.

  • Brian jones composed the tune his idea, he would of been great doing soundtracks

  • Man, this jingle rocks! The Rolling Stones forever!

  • That Mick Jaggar must still have his First Communion money....he was raking it in years ago...

  • This was in the latest issue of Uncut on page 113.

  • Snap-Crackle-STONES! Terrific video. Thanks for posting!

  • In the second part of the"song"appears the

genius of Keith Richards rhythm guitar

  • That's Keith all right, doing his Chuck Berry thing.

  • the rice krispies blues

  • Great find! Brian Jones co-wrote this with the J. Walter Thompson ad agency and the Stones were paid 400 pounds for this ad. It was only shown in the United Kingdom.

  • This is a real find! The Stones sound like the "Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World" on this one. Actually, Brian Jones co-wrote this jingle with the J. Walter Thompson ad agency (who had Rice Krispies as a client) for the princely sum of 400 pounds. It was only shown in the United Kingdom in '64 which is why no one from the States can remember seeing this when it was shown.

  • thanks, nice bit of info

  • @maris61in61 it's credited to Jones but was actually written as a group effort.

  • @maris61in61 oh my gosh! you must be like in your 50's haha! only people your age KNOW the nicks and crannies of such great detail of bands and other things! thats awesome!

  • This is a real treat for Stones fans. The band should add this clip to their next concert DVD as an extra.

  • This is the stuff DVD bonus track dreams are made of!! Thanks for posting this! Great stuff!

  • This isn't as bad as the time Pink Floyd used "Great Gig In The Sky" to promote Dole Bananas. I do have that commercial on DVD. I couldn't believe Pink Floyd sold out for a banana ad. But yes, Stones make me wanna buy Rice Krispies now. Cute ad.

  • You should hear the Stones do their

    "Sugar Smacks" jingle.

"Strung out every morning, just layin' in the sack, you think I'm only resting - but you don't know jack - the only thing I'm wantin' is just a little snack - a tasty little morsel of my sugar smacks!"

    Sincerely,

    The Legendary Danny O'Doul

  • I don't know if this ever was broadcast. I was 12 at the time, and I don't remember it. The Stones were still a bit underground in the States at that time, but my friends and I were already into them.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • having the Stones promote Rice Krispies would DEFINATELY get me to buy! There couldn't be anyone better to endorse!!

  • awesome commercial! great for stones fans that have the munchies!

  • Did they do this for Michael Cohl?

  • Cool commercial, I'm eating rice krispies right now LOL

  • I LOVE RICE CHRISPIES

  • Yeah, I've got a Rolling Stones EP from the same era and it sounds pretty similar.

  • So I guess The Monkees weren't the only ones to do cereal commercials...

  • OK so its not the most Rock and Roll thing in the world to do a advert for a cereal.

The track, however is great and unfortunately, as several other comments have said, it is indeed better than anything they've done recently.

  • This is the only song Brian Jones was ever officially credited with writing.

  • You are kidding, thats a real shame-

  • this was back in the day when the Beatles had a cartoon, and Andy Panda had a mega hit singing about Milky Way Bars. It was a friendly rivalry between the three. But always Beatles,Andy Panda Stones,in that order. Good times great tunes

  • I heard that Andy Panda did a maypo add

  • Remember that creepy add, when Shear Phenonenom stuck Barbie Dolls up their butts?

  • Nobody was trying to imitate the Stones until a year later. Only the Stones sounded like the Stones in '63, and they were inexpensive enough at the time to not require substitutes. Keep in mind we're listening to a 20 year old Mick, and a 19 year old Keith.

  • This of course was during the era when the Beatles had a cartoon and Andy Panda had a huge smash singing about Milky Way Bars. Back then it was always Beatles,Andy Panda, Stones. In that order.Good Times, great tunes.

  • I'm not totally convinced that this is really the Stones, it would be very out of character, even in 63.

  • they recorded the song at the time, under the conditions that they would not be revealed as the artists.

and if youve heard enough of the stones you can easily tell this is jaggers voice.

  • i've listened to the *BOYS* for 35 years. That's Mick!!!

  • Sure that's them. Play this alongside "Route 66" or "Carol" from their first album. Same sound. And there's no mistaking Jagger's voice, especially at the end. The Stones have talked about this spot in interviews a few times...at least Keith has.

  • Discovered a couple of YouTube rock 'n' roll nuggets on successive days:

Yesterday, it was a Florida Department of Education clip starring college freshman Jim Morrison. Check it out (YouTube title: "Jim Morrison in high school").

Today, the Rolling Stones singing on a Rice Krispies commercial.

    What could possibly be next?

  • well, there's always that Frank Zappa Cream O' Wheat ad......

  • This is the best commercial jingle ive ever heard...and their new stuff is good, but how would that guy know...he thinks an Ibanez is a quality guitar apparently

  • well its better than any of their new stuff

  • Us old geezers know that this was aired in C.1964. They weren't as particular in those days.

  • snap

  • i love krispies, i love the stones, BEAT IT!

  • i wish rice krispies whould air this ad again on regular tv

  • They played this LIVE in concert the other night.

  • AWESOME! This should definitely be re-aired.

  • best rice krispies commercial ever wieh they would re air it

  • Look closely there could be a family resemblence in one of "Krispies"

  • Have you ever seen Garth Brooks condom comercial?? Pee yew!!! That was a GREAT Stones clip and thanks a million!!!!

  • just plain damn funny...stones hawking cereal. There is something more to this story. way more.

  • they only recorded the song on the condition that nobody would reveal it was the stones who recorded it :]

is that what you mean by 'something more'?

  • yes but also how did they get the stones to do this to begin with? was it money, contractual agreements, a favor,or what?

  • i have no idea.

maybe one of the stones had a certain fondness of rice krispies :P

  • yes, perhaps but I doubt it. I believe it had something to do with an appearance on a popular music show that had Rice Krispies as a major sponsor.

  • This was broadcast in 1963, before they hit it big. It may have been recorded in 1962. They needed the money.

  • Not at all - the Stones were already hitmakers. Would Kellogg's and an advertising company bother with an unknown band?

  • They were unkown in the US, (where all the real money was) until well into '64, (Beatles played Ed Sullivan Feb '64, w/no Stones yet in sight), & didn't yet have any big hits even in the UK.

  • Keep in mind, this was just small-time ad. Up until the mid-90s, ad producers -lived- in the sound studios, trying different projects every day for companies like Kellogg's. This wasn't Kellogg's idea, just a tape played for them, that they accepted as something "the kids might like". The Stones got very little for it.

  • I was just about to become a huge Stones fan, (14 when this ad was made), living in Chicago, (which was one of the 1st US cities to catch fire for the Stones). This ad would've been the -beginning- of all of the excitement, except that none of us ever heard it, because it didn't play here.

  • Brian alone got writer's credit, (splitting it with the ad agency, J Walter Thompson), by signing the contracts when the other Stones weren't around: One of the many such things he did back then that the other Stones never forgave him for.

  • my favorite rice krispies commercial.

  • Thanks for reposting this---leave it up, will ya, YouTube?
