Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! That's the worst piece of Kathak I have seen in a long time. Also what's unique about Kathak is that the dancer often leads the accompanying tabla player, they play off each other. In this case, an absolute waste. The dance piece had no complexity, no grace.

@utsavmohanlakhera The quality of a aTabla player is that he can adjust to the person he is accompanying. I agree Zakir has dumbed it down to her level. This is why I love and respect him so much because he does not show off.

Oof--such an uneducated comment! Just because someone is from another background doesn't mean that they shouldn't or can't be better! FYI, there are many amazing non-Italian singers famous for Italian opera! Have you ever heard of Marilyn Horne, Beverly Sills or Placido Domingo--none of them are Italian.

it depends on how important is pronuciation in an art form, in opera singing pronuciation is hardly ditinguishable -I'm Italian. Anyway foreign opera singers who have a better pronunc. sound better to me

costume of danser is not giving visual delite that lifts performance of artist. it is just study not an concert

i really like the dancer's care free approach to the dance but what really would enhance it in my opinion is an uplift of the spine thereby improving the posture and ofcourse the ever-true factor of constant riaz.

the only thing i am unhappy about is the footage, covering the tabla player where it should have been the dancer. that's rather unfair.

As for zakir ji's experties there is no doubt:every one is aware of it :-)

wife of a great master of Tabla, student of great kathak dancer, she is good in rhythm and Padant. ofcourse a rare vedio. but it would be more better if she had chosen the costume and other outfits apropiate for the performance.

cant compare the tabla to the dancing. i think the only kathak dancer that is equivalent in skill to ustad Zakir hussain is birju maraj . but this is kind of sweet in that he plays for his wife..

Obviously you never seen Chitresh Das. When Zakir and Chitresh performed in the 70's they were a perfect match for each other and they are both still amazing. Birju is good with Zakir, but you should see Chitrish.
