@Zeroethorder The comment was about the shooting spot, not the firearm. However, that rig is easily capable of accuracy at a mile. What makes you think it is not? After two sight in shots we were hitting a 12" diameter target easily at 1000 yards. I wouldn't expect it to hold 1 minute of angle at a mile, but a 45 gallon drum should be easy. I've taken the .223 to 1000 and a .308 to 1200. Some have taken a basic .223 rig to 1 mile. No reason why a high end .338 Lap can't do it.
@Zeroethorder It can shoot to a mile no problem, but any .338's effective range is less than that. Now, if you were just playing then you can try to hit stuff at a mile, but if you had one shot, you'd better make sure you have every variable accounted for.
@Taud This setup is expensive, but a big .338 boomer does not have to be. I could build a 338 Edge off a Savage action for under $1000 before optics. Cost per round isn't too insane if you reload.
@sillyak my budget really isnt there right now for 1$ or more per bullet, i enjoy a wicked bolt action but 9mm and 22lr is what i can afford at the moment
i wouldnt know a thing about building off an action or reloading at the moment, once i move out of the city something long range would make sense and ill probly get into it
"Shooting far" yes
"Longer than a mile possible" not even close

@MrSenaid2010 I do live in Alberta. Won't say exactly where it is as I don't want a bunch of people there. It's close to the 40 though.
