I think the problem with the first season of TNG is that they got too far away from TOS. They completely lost TOS's humility. Sure Kirk was arrogant but he knew that he was flawed and he admitted his mistakes.
Picard on the other hand, was an insufferable arrogant ass all the time. He was lecturing Q about how friggin' awesome humans were.
Plus they made things way too casual. Sure there's the whole utopian vision but come on, a starship is still a massive dangerous machine.
i actully loved code of honner my favorite episode! jk. but the frist time i saw it it was not nearly as awful as i remberd it being now that i saw sfdbris review it. which is ironic concidering i had a really lame exprence and was only sitting through that episode because i wanted to watch something after and thought because i was watching tv frist i could continue watching tv but no my mom decided to kick me off to watch her stupid show. plus she totaly missunderstood the episode.
I had a notion to rewatch Star Trek a few weeks ago. I decided to go chronologically and start with Enterprise. I gave up after 4 episodes (Disc 1). I am now mulling just re-watching DS9
its kind of ironic, how star trek began.... as exploring space.. kinda like hippies in space..
eventually becoming militaristic.. where in voyager if ya break the rules the captain will fire at you.... its that militaristic thinking, .. i dont think ppl understand... just how freedom is lost in the future.. the only person with any real freedom is the captain.. and everyone else is just there for the ride
@Geekvolution Initially they were going to come back to it. The only reason They dropped the neural parasides was the amount of negative feedback mail from adult fans, who had kids tuning in on the show as well. The dark atmosphere and Remmick's death were the reasons. General resonce of the networks airing the show to that episode was similar.Conspiracy was the only TNG episode to recieve a discretion for graphic violence in Canada.
@Geekvolution Skin of Evil and the death of Tasha Yar/what if Tasha hadn't died etc could potentially be worthy of its own video. As for Conspiracy, one of the DS9 novels set after the What you leave behind... covered the return of those creatures in some detail.
Captain Logan, I was wondering if you have ever considered doing a Trek Movie Rewind? I would be really interested in you your opinions on them; Or maybe even certain episodes. That would also be cool. Thanks :)
@predator959 If SFDebris and others weren't already doing really great series on those, I probably would, but I don't have a lot to add in a more formal, critical analysis that hasn't already been said.
@Geekvolution thats actully what seems to be stoping alot of reviewers from reviewing certain things. and well i dont buy it. i also dont buy the excuse oh i have no real interest in it or the time to get interested in it and branch out. or heck the nostial critic giving his 10 top movies he wont review because he actully does like them. however i will say i am glad sfrbis is going to be branching out into stargate. cuz i was thinking about doing that myself.
@thewewguy8t88 The problem for me is that if I see a fantastic and in-depth review, I don't neccessarily want to reveiw it myself because I don't want to just hit all the same notes. Also, if I totally agree with a reviewer nd he makes most or all of the points I would have, my putting out a review of the same movie would be redundant.
Although, since I've set out to review every superhero movie with Rewind I do have to do that sometimes.
@Geekvolution you do have a really good point and honestly i understand what can be said that has not been said before about so many movies sometimes. the reason i said what i said though was well i have seen people mange to review the same things several times and give their own personal spin on things. but i do understand it can be really hard at times to revirew certain things.
The one thing that always stands out about Season 1 is Data and how different he is from later Data. He grins sometimes and occasionally cracks a joke.
I never watched this series but have been wanting to since I've finally developing an interest thanks to the 09 movie!
Well, I don't know about flat out hating children but I know a lot of people who don't like being around kids and find them very annoying! Me I'm just uncomfortable around other people's kids!
I think my favourite two episodes are probably Code of honour and The nutrual zone. I really liked how in Code of honour they showed what the cultures of the Klingons is like, and now that the federation has made peace with the Klingons that made it even more meaningful I'd say. Worf was probably like vice chef of security. Such a thing? Lol. I also like how The nutural zone showed how the Romulans have developed their ships much more.
For today’s TV shows, to me, starting off with a mediocre first season is unacceptable. The series needs to start great and end great as much as it can. With so many shows now available you have to be critical about which show is for you.
-Sarah says Wesley Crusher didnt work Season 1, I say the little P'taq NEVER worked. Like I said on one of your other videos, kill him off early and give Beverly some character development.
-"Is he Ebenezer Scrooge?" - i laughed, he did play Scrooge in a telemovie of A Christmas Carol one time.
-Conspiracy - wish they had followed it up.
-Arsenal of Freedom - as far as Season 1 epsiodes go its very good.
12:50 You'd be surprised. I know people in their 20's that act that way around children. Regarding Wesley, I do agree that they should have had his character written better and I wish that they would have gone with the original idea of Crusher having a daughter named Leslie instead of a son. It seemed in the first couple of episodes, they crossed out Leslie's name and put in Wesley.
I liked season 1 Picard , he was a total asshole and Riker was meant to be his lighter side and voice of reason . Unfortunately Riker was a doosh bag and no one likes Jazz music .
@TheComixkid2099 lol unfortunately, no. We'll see what happens in the next couple weeks- there's a glitch I've read about where you can't get your unlimited time back until you have the same number of videos you had before you removed any. So after we're passed 666 again, maybe it'll return. And no, the irony of that number is not lost on me :)

@Geekvolution: After watching Season 1 of TNG, did both of you expect Data to become a popular character on the show?

To paraphrase SFDebris' many lovely reviews...
Picard panders to Crusher because he wants to get in his mother's pants.

Here is a Question for the Treksperts...Is it a good idea for Khan to be in the new Star Trek Reboot, Or should Khan be in the new movie...

Ok Logan, Does Riker look better with beard or without it...That to me is the hardest part to watch is seeing Riker without a beard.
