I'm trying to learn how to group from this video, hoping for 2 bits of advice:
1) How do you know when to make the move to a power pill? I understand most of the grouping techniques, and when to use each one, but I never know when I should go to a pill once they're grouped.
2)What is the asymmetrical move to send one of them through the tunnel and the other around the top? (Also; when you say half a length, do you mean like at 3:04ish (except blue and pink switched)?)

Would like to see it done on a slower level, because by this stage everything's so fast and pixel-perfect.

Very good. It is very frustrating when trying for a perfect game and you miss a key or when your hand slips and you bite it. My highest is 5180 short of a perfect game. Grouping is handy when a pattern goes awry. I try to stick to patterns so I keep my time down.
My high score's just over 2 million points. I had a perfect game until the 157th level (there are 256), when I made a wrong turn. I didn't lose a life, but the key disappeared, so I lost the perfect. I ended the game immediately out of frustration.
There aren't any places I know of that describe how to group the ghosts... I taught myself by watching somebody else's gameplay, and by practicing a lot.
I'm still trying to find video of how the world record holders eat all the ghosts on the higher levels when they only turn blue for one frame or whatever... doesn't video or something exist of how to do this?
You're looking at it. There are six levels in which the ghosts turn blue for roughly one second; this is one of them. It's just hard to tell, because I eat them all.
On the "higher" levels - 21 through 255 - the ghosts actually don't turn blue at all. Which is harder to deal with in some ways, but actually easier for getting perfect scores on each level.
Finally a solution for when a pattern goes wrong, that is what stops me from trying a perfect score and just play patterns randomly by savestate. Great vision on the Clyde part!
did u notice that the orangey ghost wasnt chasing him at one point

you can hide there but only if you meet certain criteria in the game... google "pacman hiding spot"

Correct, because there aren't any ghosts to be eaten. After level 20, the ghosts only change direction when an energizer is eaten.
