The 458 is an amazing machine, it costs more than my house. But it's not my type of car, I jump my STI because it's fun and I can laugh it off. I don't think I could do that with the 458 and wouldn't feel right doing it even if I could afford to.

Fishtail? Please upload a chase video, I didn't feel that at all. I had the A/C running on accident during most of the day.

When you can afford one, believe me, you will push to its limits. Same as someone with no money will think STI is an expensive car so he would baby it when you are pushing hard. By the way, I'lll upload the video but let's stop with this BS. I'm 40 & I've been at car forums since 1995 & I've probably argued with at least 500 people just like what we are doing. Don't know how old you are but I'm already fed up with this so I'd rather stop. The conversation will NEVER go anywhere. It will keep going I'm better... No, I'm better.... I'm right... No I'm right... Unless there is a system where someone is proven to be right or better, the conversation will never end! ;-)

Your point is: I'm a better driver than you. Even with the STI, I could beat your Ferrari. Thus, I'm better and my car is better. Even if I had the money to afford one, I would never buy it. Kudos for your Ferrari but no thanks for me.

My point is: My car is far better than your STI. Why does anyone even argue with that? Plus, I wasn't doing hardly anything at all but just watching STI having a hard time keeping up with the Ferrari when I'm only doing 70 percent of it.

I did end up going off on a turn afterwards, this is what happens when you forget which turns are where. The video wasn't cut, I only had a 2G SD in the GoPro. I have no clue how to edit.

Pushing too hard? I would say hardly as I have over 10k miles on the R1Rs and had no cupping or any abnormal wear on the tires. I am still driving on those tires. 30 laps and your tires are bald on a new car?

I'm not here to argue, the corner speeds tell the story; the straight speeds on the 458 are amazing.

No reason to argue but my car is now new. It's 1 year old and I drove more than 3000 miles, which is a lot for this kind of car. And I drive pretty harsh so my tires don't last too long. So, it was pretty worn before running 30 laps. Hope you didn't take the wrong way. I wasn't trying to condescend you or your car in any way. I was simply stating the facts that "OTHERS" (maybe including yourself) could think we were both gunning the cars.

If we had the exact same cars, then you and I could be a good match so no doubt about your driving skills. But just wanted to brag that 458 is one of the greatest cars that are far better than regular cars. You get to drive one and you will readily notice.

Believe me... I wasn't fan of these fancy super expensive cars. The cars I had were: 2008 Viper, 2008 Z06 (590WHP); 2003 EVO (400HP); 03 Mustang Cobra (450WHP); 2005 STI... but I wanted to try the expensive cars so went up to Cayman S, then 911 Turbo, then F430 and then 911 Turbo S and finally the 458. Geez, the F430 is no comparison to a 458. Other cars that I had in the past were just simple toys.... Anyway, we shall meet later when we get a chance...

And to add to all the comments, the Ferrari 458 Italia is a great car. No doubt about that. It's more comfortable to drive everyday than my 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S. It's roomy. It offers nice view front and back. Sounds great. It's the greatest track car and the same time I could very comfortably drive to the track and back home (180 miles each way) and not suffer from any discomfort or back pain. It was expensive ($330K) but it was very much well worth it!

It's so funny to see how facts can be distorted so much. I am the 458 driver in the video and please allow me to clarify a few facts

Fact 1 - I already ran about 30 hot laps that day before this session. My tires were almost bald didn't have enough traction so I was only doing about 70% of its potential.

Fact 2 - Given Fact 1, saw an STI following closely to me so was quite interesting seeing what he could do so was pacing along with him.

Fact 3 - Wanted to see how he would do in front of him so I let him pass.

Fact 4 - After passing me,...

Fact 4 - ... I kept on tailgating and he was pushing way to hard and he went off the track so I passed him again and that was the end of the game. Hope he didn't go off the track but oh well.

Fact 5 - It's funny he cut the video right before he went off the track so nobody could see what happened next.

Fact 6 - To most viewers, this video only gave wrong impression of what really happened so I wanted to give a heads up of what actually was going on there.

Nice video though. I'm a huge Ferrari freak and I have an STI 428whp/405wtq I wish it was me at the track with that 458 Italia :)

@elirentz- ah, we are talking about different things. I agree that the 458 should walk all over an STi on that course. I was saying the driver was at his limit and even all that money can't fix that.

Anyone thinking a stage 2 STi with bolt ons on that course would match a 458 is higher than giraffe pussy. Certain portions, yes, all of it, no.

@littlewhitewagon I'm not trying to get in an argument about this but either the driver was scared to turn in at full speed or he was doing it on purpose and just letting the tail out on the exit of the corner. I'm an STi owner and I love them too but the 458 with a decent driver will crush all but a fully decked out race subie with 450+ whp. There's no way a stage 2 STI would keep up with equal drivers pushing both cars no matter what suspension mods it has.

that is really impressive for a stage 2 sti with suspension/wheels/tires/pads! must feel good to keep up with (and eventually pass) a car as impressive as the 458 italia

One of the most important things left out of the list... Evasive Motorsports precision alignment. Settings are everything.
