I knew i hated doctors!!! I just get this feeling sometimes.. like they don't always know what they are doing. I'm not saying all are like that.. but there is a good amount out there that are.. (or should i say bad amount?)
This is very sad and Im so glad that the babies are okay. I am a first yr nursing student and I have jsut completed Medications. We get drilled into us about doing the double checks and with pediatrics its 3 checks. In our exam if we forget to do the rights and checks it is an instant fail. So this nurse should have know better. I know everyone makes mistakes but to make a mistake and not tell anyone is worse
I'm pleased the children have survived but I'm angry that people in the US (not in this video) berate our (UK) NHS citing medical malpractice, waiting lists etc, etc. Doesn't this show that even private healthcare can go wrong? I've just had 5* surgery on the NHS. I'm fixed and it took only 7 weeks to get the surgery whereas a person I know in US is STILL waiting for same op 10 months later! No healthcare plan is perfect.
There are many horror stories about Cedars-Sinai Hospital. I had spine surgery there, and the surgeon; J. Patrick Johnson, operated on the wrong level, and on the wrong side. then covered it up. I required additional surgery. I pray the Quaid twins have no long term medical issues
@WeedMIC it's because theres many cases of lawsuits against doctors and hospitals due to careless mistakes. If a doctor makes a mistake and realizes the legal system could make a case to take his license away, or course he will try to cover it up. not saying its right, but theres corruption too
This is absurd! I'm about to have my next baby in a few months, and this kinda crap scares me to death! (Course it's only gonna get worse if we socialize health care!)

ok this is all I have to say. Medicine IS AN ART AND IT IS A PRACTICE. So it doesn't matter whether you are at the poor people's clinic or a Celebrity doctor, if they are not careful, they can fluff up big time!
You would think that someone could be able to sue but that is usually not the case since Bush and his administration have made it almost impossible to do so. My sister almost died as a result of medication she was allergic to that they knew she was and infection that they neglected, we went in the middle of the night to get her. The new hospital said she would have been dead withing 48 hrs due to neglect and we cannot sue anyone because of the law in the state that it happened.
Rodneykingman - Mistakes do not happen only at hospitals. There are certain situations that a midwife would not be able to handle that could result in injury or even death. Your line of thinking is rather flawed.
Doctors and Nurses are paid huge amounts and one of the reasons is to cover their malpractice insurance. The arrogance that Drs have is amazing, they call it PRACTICE because that is what they do, PRACTICE. There are no guantees but people could alteast be careful. The medical field is never routine, even little things could be life a death. The only LOGICAL thing said here is to reduce the length of the shift which is a radical amount of time to ask someone to be alert.

In general they are not paid huge amounts of money, hence the lack of staffing which leads to insanely long working hours. It baffles me when you compare the income of some film star to someone that saves a life on a regular basis. Film star screws up "Ratake".......Dr Screws up "Sued". Please pay these people what they deserve.
Yeah im sure if you paid them more, it wouldn't have happened. We should start paying them "huge" amounts of money from the money trees in your backyard then nothing bad will ever happen again.
I never said it wouldn't of happened, or happen again. Im saying that Better income = More Staff = Less working hours = Less mistakes...simple logic that anyone with active brain cells can follow.
I feel for the parents that have lost their babies to medical mistakes. The medical staff should know their limits, either from being burned out or exhausted when working. Especially the NICU nurses should know that mistakes can happen and for that reason they should triple check any medication that is given to these little babies. I can not believe that someone said that twins should be born at home, gosh what happens if a C-section is needed because one of the twins is in stress!
I am happy to hear that the little guys are doing well. This is a parent's nightmare. My thoughts and prayers are for all of you in your time of stress. Thank you for speaking out for patient's rights.
how can you blame the Quaids for giving birth at a HOSPITAL
you're a dipshit with no heart, god i feel bad for those twins, and that stupid nurse in trained to not make mistakes how can you confuse the dosage by that much?
instead of judging them for going to a Hospital, why dont you grow a heart
ok...so ya sayin they are idiots for giving birth at a hospital? you must be a scientologist? maybe its the mothers fault for makin a noise while giving birth? you're a freakin idiot.
its a horrible incident that could've happened to anyone, and Anywhere

I really hate to say it but it must be said. It is only the Quaids fault that this happened. I was home birthed with a midwife as was my 2 brothers and sister. 80% of the people I hang out with were home birthed and 90-95% of the "new parents" I know either have had their children at home or are consulting with a midwife in preparation for so. There are over 4000 new mid wives trained in the US alone each year. The AMA consistently makes lethal or near lethal mistakes. What else us there to say?
What about the people who go to a hospital to give borth? Are they at fault as well? How would you feel if one of your family members lost a baby while in the hospital? Would you say it was the persons fault? This is flat out the fault of the hospital staff who did not take the time to follow proper procedures.
ok but that doesn't mean 100% should be trained to have home birth do to some issues that people don't have the right treatment that they have to have that HOSPITAL does so how is that he's fauilt I don't get it, it's the staff fault for not looking at the label for what they injusted on the twins and there are worse things then that I know about the united states HOSPITAL that are so fucked up.
Great kids to f*** up on. You mess up, and the Quaids will slander you nationally.

Potent drug with confusing labeling,"most frequently incorrectly administered"creating"a lot of overdoses"
Neither hospitals management requested nor drug companies initiate on it's own safety or labeling improvements
Three (3) system failures in a hospital
Two(2) days not telling the parents
Two(2) days of the Hospital telling the parents the babies were "doing fine"
Executives with lawyers & staff waiting on parents to arrive to drop the"news"
Blame nurses,doctors, or executives?
