  • I'm glad i'm doing engineeirng

  • who is making it

  • TAKE MY MONEY NOW

  • wow ... this is great

  • it's 3 years later and nothing came out :(

  • @mooohacando

It takes a long time to develop something this complex for widespread commercial use. the good news is the prototype and concept are proven and work. I would say its now about making it into something convenient well polished and adaptable.

  • Homosexual activists understand the power of words.

Please visit my channel to watch a one-minute video clip in which popular atheist author Richard Dawkins admits that homosexual activists "hijacked the word 'gay'".

The word "homosexual" is more appropriate and accurate because it, unlike the word "gay", actually describes the behavior/attraction/relationship being discussed.

The word "gay" helps homosexual activists push their agenda.

  • I was just about to say that this is very similar to something ive seen on TED before, and then she mentions it.

  • Humans have something around 21 senses. Besides sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste, there is sense of tempurature, including drops and raises in temp. We have the ability to judge speeds of objects and whether they will hit us if we cross the street. We can sense tension in conversations. These are all senses.

  • Google wants his dick, lol

  • you folks need to take a break from patting yourselves on the back and ponder the consequences of this tech. Jesus Christ!

  • Connect all this information and tech with a cool eyepiece...so you've got the bluetooth earpiece and a bluetooth eyepiece. Also...might be pretty awesome to connect it to the nervous system or some system of control it remotely with just your mind...but that might take some time

  • @yaxeland yes there is a way. The camera senses the shape created by your hands and it takes a picture through your fingers. Not hard to understand... don't see why anyone wouldn't get it.

  • @eiryn24 yes and there's also a robotic arm being tested that moves by what you think. Also a brain implant. Tiny chip.

  • @KirbyPwnage wow! next thing we'll see is a C3PO walking next to stephen hawking!

  • Now if people got weird looks down the street when Hands Free came out.. expect to be taken to a mental hospital if you're one of the first to use one of these down the street o.0

  • God! This is awesome!

  • waitaminute... did she say brain implant? O_O

  • @eiryn24 YES SHE DID !

  • can't wait to see this combined with SIRI + those human like japanese robot.

  • i hope i will never heve to use it...

  • Personally, i'd rather have a sunglasses interface than surface projection. Anyway, i remember seing this and hope something like it will become avalible soon.

  • Too bad steve jobs isnt around to steal this technology and pass it off as his own as if he invented it himself. Thumbs up this comment :-D I want top comment.

  • @The6ChickMagnet Absolutely True... not just that gone forever creature but every brainwashed creature in this filthy value sytem of money...

  • I seriously don't know who clicked dislike..... wtf why would u dislike this? It's awesome!

  • 6:45 was as funny as it was scary

  • S s S S S s eaxces s sssssss acarrooss sssssss

  • can it also translate your voice into another language??

  • i can't wait until this becomes widespread and fully functional

  • we can finally use the force!

  • Wow, a sixth sense brain implant? That's definitely thinking outside the box

  • how could 70 people hate this it is awesome

  • Soon we'll be reading blank books with projections of word with this tech!

  • This is like eden of the east

  • Great invention.

  • FAKE...

  • @yaxeland If it was fake, would this ever be on TED? Think for a second.

  • @hck112 there is no way that a camera can see your face and then find all of your facebook and social networking postings and info. Its not possible.

  • @yaxeland *head-to-wall*

Do you know that face tracking tech has been using widely for more than 3 years now? Way before this little project on TED, Samsung laptops have been using this technology to replace Windows log-on system, it can recognize your face and hardly breakable. Japan used this tech in government security.

  • @hck112 Of course the camera has to be embedded into any transmitter or portable computer (a), from there the (a) can connect to the net or base server for information.

This project is still an experiment, so you can explain at 6:47 the (a) has memorized the Asian student's information, the camera just does it jobs by recognizing his face and match it to the existed info.

  • @yaxeland Research and read more before you assume some bullshits.

  • @hck112 I do admit that this would be a cool piece of technology, except that it is fake. There is NO POSSIBLE WAY that this device can take pictures just by the user putting there hands in front of the screen. It cannot just project the correct time by putting it against your hand. You are very gullible and it makes me laugh.

  • @yaxeland wow didn't see what I write? This project is still "an experiment". However there are 2 tech that you assumed up that they simply "can't" work... The projector isn't steady, heard of "auto screening tech" yet? Hand on the screen? "Advanced shape recognizing system", this widely use in multi interactive techs.

  • @yaxeland Saying "no possible way" is an excuse for "I don't want to do it because it's not 'cool'."

As long as this little piece of tech is useful to the world, it will be develop and maintain on by people.

  • @hck112 that makes no sense at all. I did say that it would be cool, just not possible. This technology is not around yet, maybe it will be but it IS NOT at the moment, this is fake.

  • @yaxeland watch?v=YrtANPtnhyg&feature=relmfu

  • @yaxeland Technology is allready here, but improve this thing would be costly, and in my opinion might not work allways in a wanting way. And i don't think it will be poppular anyway.

  • @yaxeland lol, just because you're unaware of where technology is already at doesn't mean you should go around acting like a retard who thinks he knows everything

  • @wigglezwow The funny thing is, this technology ISN'T here because this fake devise is still a prototype.

  • @yaxeland go and search SixthSense technology

  • This is so fake! WOW

  • Indians should be proud, being about 1% of the US population and having only been in the country since the 80s, and still contributing so much to the evolution of modern technology. im not surprised anymore that indian-americans have an average IQ of 122,which is insane.

in the future expect india to be the most powerful and influential country

  • @IndoManiac90 why should indians be proud, this is fake

  • @yaxeland

its not fake at all dude

  • cool but will it blend ?

  • @bboyafro1 Failed, you can't blend light and waves.

  • Why would India be proud? He's going to make the software open source. The whole world should be proud.

  • INDIA MUST BE AND SHOULD BE PROUND OF THIS STUDNET..SIMPLY BRILLIANT1

  • What is funny is that most folks watching this truly believe that this tech will be offered to the world. The population must be cut by 90% before they get the world they "the elite" want. Good Luck Folks.

  • @TheyDidThis When the touch screen technology and mobile internet was first introduced, it was a far off concept.

What about now? Quit being such a pessimist and just enjoy the ride.

  • @TheyDidThis When sister project of Kinect was Nathan first came out, people like you laughed at it because of "impossible" things. Tons of mag and newspaper said impossible to track full body motion. How's about now? Possible now? And how many people like you are using this tech now?

  • this isn't really an important invention or anything. It's just another tech toy like Ipod touch that has some cool features. They aren't showing anything that will be particularity revolutionary or important like some of the speeches of Bill Gates on education or diseases in poor countries. As i see it, it's just another tech that they're trying to make popular and get support so they can finish making it. I bet Ipod touch looked like very cool tech when it was made, but is it important? nope.

  • @artashes999 u sound like a jealous lil f@g

  • @nepalihercules wtf does jealousy have to do with anything I am saying??? Have you even watched any other TED videos?? Most of them are about how to improve the world unlike this crap. This video might as well be an advertisement. now if you can counter my argument instead of saying retarded crap, I'll be happy to change my mind.

  • @artashes999

    Just shut the fuck up.

  • @omegapoint777 nice argument.

  • @artashes999 They state that it's relatively inexpensive to construct and Mistry claimed he was going to make all the software open sourced allowing it to be accessible to almost anyone.

  • It has been 2 years. When will i be able to buy one of these?

  • @ImAllFact its already out, where have u been living?

  • @nepalihercules In my house? DUH.

  • it will only ever be as accurate and flexible as the data it has access to. In laziness, you lessen the desire to actually have awareness of the world before you that would be essential to have, in case the data is lacking. It needs 3D object scanning capabilities so you can scan in and log information, similar to a wiki network. But being digital, there is an inherent concern for privacy and data security, as well as false information. Tourism will be better with it though, add in GPS!

  • rip mobile phones.

  • I honestly think this new device will really change the world. Especially if they are able to implant this into your brain, that's just crazy.

  • PRANAV MISTRYS SIX SENS GOOD.....SHAILESH SURTI RTO AHMEDABAD

  • i want one so bad

  • so useless. the only difference from the other one is you can stare at a wall and do your shit.

wow great. so you can organize your porn vids on a public wall.

  • wait.............i can use this to cheet in school and get high grades, google

  • Why would i need this?

  • this device suckss!!! how is the Japaneses got like a decade ago Docomos!? a phone which basically took the place of the pc's I'm willing to get 1 once I get to Japan!!!

  • I swear to god, when this comes out, I'm going to get it as soon as I can and then I shall have it...and...I will feel like...Oh my god...OH MY GOD! Indescribable.

  • cant wait to see it on the market :)

  • really amazing ...keep it up Pranav

  • all SUBSCIRBE TO MY uTUBE page 4 free Cod5 10th prestige lobby

  • super genius!

  • Projecting info on the other person,... they got to be joking. This concept will never work in my opinion. It has to be discreet.

  • Comment removed

  • but how does it know that he's in the liberay, or that its a paper he's reading, or what flight your taking..

its SUPER clever and i love the idea

  • Patti Maes, Karl Sims and other MIT Staff use Ambient Technology account to procure human research subjects

  • Are these going to be for sale in the near future???

  • @piegames1 in 10 years they said :)

  • oh my gosh

  • very impressive~

  • super cool!! :) prond of u man..!

  • @Worfox1 keep making excuses moron...the fact is that indians are intelligent!!

  • The future's so bright, I gotta wear (augmented reality) shades... :D

  • omg that is awesome!

  • as the future catches u

  • what Ormen said is true,,,, my god , Problems everywhere

  • This looks awesome!

  • Man I want one!!!

  • Pranav

  • Really Amazing technology focused on future generation ,I am to Implement to use of new technology like this one of them is sensor I too like it , But go head to take a cup of coffe with ur own world Amazing Pranab Gohead

  • Really Amazing technology focused on future generation ,I am to Implement to use of new technology like this one of them is sensor I too like it , But go head to take a cup of coffe with ur own world Amazing Pranab Gohead !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't think the future will be for this device or we will use it but still cool thing

  • hats off to his hardwork...

  • i think in future we dont even need to think much abt anything. why not switch our brain calculators off for ever. This device seems innovative but wouldnt it make us look perverted on the road making hand gestures at people and things. All it seems to be doing is reducing our time to reach the phone hardly. It could be better if it can project crisp clear images and videos.

  • Super farked up invasion of privacy?

This is one of those technologies that should NEVER have been invented!! There's just way too many opportunities for abuse, especially at 6:47... NOT COOL!

  • I am a fairly private person, but I dont see a problem with this. If you don't have a social networking page then the system has no info about you, but if you do then anyone can go online and look it up anyway. I assume privacy settings will apply to these devices as well, seeing as how it uses the internet.

  • looooooooooooool

    6.47

  • Why they do not show one single presentation on this stage, So this invention is giving fake information. And they did not start its marketing from 2010..

The presentation is a game.. A fake game

  • Pranav you are a role model. This makes me proud to be an Indian. I wish every software student will enjoy this invention.

  • Very Proud of you Pranav!!!!!!! Good Luck!!!

  • get these guys more money

  • LOL the video is labled "Pattie Maes: Unveiling game-changing wearable tech" ... ...Game changing? I think the concept goes way beyond gaming.

  • @janX9 it isn't referring to gaming, it's talking about like, the eternal game, or something.

  • oh...my bad.

  • Now no-lifes will have a reason to go out. =D

  • Thanks a lot to that teatcher & her genous student from India with his wonderful technology

  • go India Go..

  • Am Very proud of Pranav for introdusing This Technology

  • d guy is amazing!!

INDIA MUST BE PROUD OF HIM..

wonderful technology, just lik in minority report movie..

sooner in future, every1 will be having such thing!

  • @kimberlycrystal21 nationalism is the cancer of society.

  • @kimberlycrystal21 fuck off poser. Are you here to claim your credit for the Sixth Sense.

  • @ciberwarrior WTF! I DNT GET WAT UR TEL'N!

oh anyway y wud i evn bother u!!! asshole !!!

  • @kimberlycrystal21 what it has do with india, you dumb ass bitch.

  • @kimberlycrystal21 we are. and we're hoping for more. :)

  • A motion controller for the PC is being developed using Sixth Sense technology...I saw it on display at CES2010, a guy was demoing it playing Left4Dead 2.

  • we use to make a picture like this when we were kids. The technology made it true.

  • ur an idiot

  • Indian techi rocks.......

    Proud of u fella.......

    The Future is South.

  • one problem...what about trying to use it in the sun? we won't be able to see anything!!

  • this stuff defiantly seems useful and all, and very impressive

but like there are still starving people in this world. it's amazing how the human race refuses to cooperate ya know

  • Cool, but..... I don't want like some girlfriend's dad to meet me for the first time and look on my shirt and see like, 2 girls one cup, and all the other messed up stuff i've looked up on the internet, you know?

  • @Ormen175 I would reconfiguration my private section on Facebook so people can´t see all my tags. Use this 6th sense technology with facebook and youtube would be awesome.

  • @Ormen175 well you get to look on your gf's dad's t-shirt too :)

  • Although its extra Tech... its amazing...

especially the image shooting function :)...

    the guy is genious...

  • This would also end up being in home computer capabilties of course which I could definately look forward to. For example, the scene in that new Gamer movie where the kid walks in a giant dome like room, plops down on his been bag, looks up to the ceiling, he manipulates the all the various screens with simple hand gestures. Allot of the scenes from the Gamer movie shows many ways that this new type of technology would definitely be a huge leap in our times.

  • That's hella cool!

  • fuck

    ing

    awesome.

    the future is here.

  • Should have been more appropriately called 7th sense. Since we already know what sixth sense is.

Great Job- Pattie Maes & her team

  • Can't you just ask the person you counter who he is instead of googling him/her? That said it looks cool.

  • Brain Implant??????????? WTF

  • Best and Fast way to generate 6th sense is to loose 1 out of 5.....

  • What do you mean by that?

  • well actually i mean to say that, as every one knows Human body actually react according to 5 senses(hearing, smelling, touch, view and taste) if any one out of these stop working either temporarily or permanently, replaces with that so called 6th sense but its totally depend on human body that how fast and easily accept the new power of sense,(continue)

  • I accept that many people would think this is crazy, but a similar a sixth sense exists already (one that provides information on optimal decisions and intangible perceptions). In our modern lives we are not attuned to it, and are predisposed to disbelieve our gut feeling if we do sense it. Hopefully in the years to come, more research and attention will be focussed towards helping people develop it as a realiable form of guidance.

  • abe chutiye isme racisdt ki baat kahan se aayi

  • too tiring, easier to move a finger a few mm to get all the info i need on a laptop

  • (part 1) Well, the problem is that that takes time, and it is tiring. If bringing your computer or smartphone with you, it will take time to Google something, to take a picture or to write something down. Your computer have to start up, you have to stretch in a weird way to bring out your smartphone out of your pocket, you've gotta press a lot of buttons and so forth. With this thing, all this would be less time- and space consuming.

I can see the future in this thing.

  • (ctd) similar to Kidney transplant if body rejects to accept it after transplantation it becomes totally useless. May be i am talking stupid but i think being a science student i have a point. And i can even discuss more on this topic but youtube is saying,"Number of characters over the limit:190", so anyways do reply about my point of view. Thanks

  • Yeah, I'm totally with you on that one. I'm just curious how that's relevant to this video.

  • (part 2) I mean, imagine cameras, projectors and computers getting even smaller, faster and better. Then this thing will be unstoppable. Maybe you'll wear this like a button on your shirt someday. Wouldn't that be awesome?

    Well, I know I can't wait!

  • are you guys off your rockers or what? racist more like

just cus he brown he looks like another brown guy cus all brown guys look the same?

  • hey dude ... who talked about colours ?

(you.... guess who's the racist then)

as i said i thought it was all fake ...

do me a favour and stop insulting people you know shit about them !

  • it just seemed racist to me, and the conspiracy theory sounded ludicrous

while I still think the theory is ludicrous, I just google image searched both of them and you are right, they look pretty similar I guess.

Maybe one day with my 6th sense technology I can get a profile on you to see that you are not racist before I accuse you.

And you can use your device to face detect people for cross referencing to see if they match.

    That would be cool.

    Sorry for being rude, dude.

  • dude i just thougth they look alike ... this whole think seemed incredible so i thought they were kidding ... then the other guy told me its not fake ... so i said ok ..i just thought it was... thats all.

and i thougt your comment was an over-reacted one.

its ok man ... no problem ...cool !!!

  • doesnt anyone else think this will eventually be used in a totalitarian state.....

  • not long before the mark of the beast the chip on your forhead or right hand wake up people

  • A 6th sense brain implant, are you fucking kidding me??? And she closes the presentation with this statement, as if it is the ultimate goal and technological achievement.

If you combine this 6th sense technology with the neural-interface technology that is also currently in development (there are YouTube videos of that as well), then the Thought Police of our very near future will be fully-armed in their mass-control of the sheeple.
