  • I can't wait to get my 2001 Silverado 1500 LT EXT'd Cab LM7 5.3 4x4. I have been driving it on the queen 2 highway between Lacombe and Red Deer in Alberta, Canada. 0-60 is a nice, smooth, strong and heathy 8.6 secs. It really can pull, with a LOT of rear wheel slip. But I should be careful with the acceleration it hurts your money, gas, oil consumtion and wishbones.

  • Let me guess that engine light were ICP sensor that wasn't meet oil pressure enough? I had 00 F350 with over 217K miles it been abused by construction company.

    What mileage you average? I get 15-18 depend road condition.

  • i love excursions but ford should have stayed with the 7.3 international ever since they made their own they have been through 3 engines now on the 4th in just 17 years and each one ended with problems except the 7.3 which wasn't half bad gm (now government motors has only had the 6.6 but with little differences and dodge with each engine getting better over time not worse and any diesel that red lines after 3 grand ain't a true diesel that would kill it if it was a real diesel

  • @joeyf504327 Actually the 6.0 and 6.4 that followed the 7.3 were also built by Navistar International. Only the newest 6.7 is built in house by Ford. Although I completely agree that the 7.3 was the best of the bunch!

  • @BudleighSaltertonBoy thats what they say but really it was built and designed by Ford under International name the only thing in common with the International 7.3 I6 and the Ford 7.3 V8 was that they are both 7.3L thats it they used the Internationals in their bigger trucks(f-550 and up) but replaced them with Cummins so atleast they know not to put their "powerstroke" in a truck that needs a reliable engine

  • @foxracing279 no they weren't, they used to have a International 7.3L I6 but then Ford made their 7.3L V8 diesel, so yeah they were built by Ford plus the 6.7l has only 16:1 COMPRESSION!! the lowest i have ever seen in a diesel, i'm surprised that the diesel can even ignite, no wonder why they say theres nothing like trying to cold start a ford, every time i hear a powerjoke i think its a gas but then i see the dumb badge on the side of the "truck" and relize that its a ford "diesel"

My 6.0 is putting out nearly the same torque figures with about twice you horsepower rating. Turbos and sticks do wonders to trucks.

  • @foxracing279 the International bus i ride every day has a 466 CI I6 diesel which puts a out 260 hp and 700 ftlb tq and it has a huge muffler but at least it sounds like a diesel and with a a GCWR of over 20,000 lbs it could hual a ford any day

  • @joeyf504327 The only Powerstroke built by ford is the 6.7L. The motors between the 7.3 and the 6.7 were built by Navistar, and Ford is/was in a major lawsuit against them.

  • @hrhr31 Up until 1994.5 all 7.3 diesels were mechanically indirect injected (idi) They had a factory turbo option beginning in 1993. The IdI engines weren't near as powerful as the Power Stroke series. As far as reliability I would not be scared of a 7.3 Stroker at all. They can't b beat. I drive a 6.0 PSD and love it but they are a lot more maintenance. They get a bad rap but with the right modifications they can be very reliable.

  • the 7.3 doesnt get the best mpg. they are great for towing and work. if you keep clean oil and good fuel filters they will fun fo as long as you want. it all depends on what you are going to be doing with it. im guessing he is getting around 15mpg.

  • @kwaky2005 It doesn't have a self destruction sequence. Every new motor has their problems. Buy an 05 and up 6.0l. It's bulletproof. I have one with Banks Six gun w/ the speedloader, Banks exhaust, and a Banks intake. Believe me, it's an awesome motor.

  • My dad has a 02 ford superduty crewcab that has been straight piped, it has a super chip in it, K&N cold air intake and i believe it has a upgraded intercooler, it also 4-6 inch exhaust all the way back, and now its putting out about 550 HP and 1000 Torque at the rear wheels
